    Still tempted to get the A1 when it comes out for sale on its own.

      I think it’s a good value at $299.

      @@ristinnovations that's what I thought - and I don't really need to be able to print in multiple colours.

    There is a Micro SD slot on the Bambu X1 printers. It’s on the right lower side of the main screen. It can print from SD card, LAN, or cloud (default).

    • @ristinnovations

      Yes, I agree there is a Micro SD slot on the side of the screen, but my complaint was that Bambu Lab did not include a Micro SD card with the printer so I had to buy one separately before I could record any time lapses. The good news is that they include a Micro SD card with their new A1 Mini printers.

      Ah I misunderstood and understand. Yes for the price it would be pretty easy to throw a $20 SD card in.

    Multicolor print options that DOESN'T make a lot of waste are those with just a very few layers with color, for instance on the top and/or the bottom of your model.
    • ANY kind of multicolor signs, nametags etc come out beautifully with just very little waste
    • The possibility of putting a logo or so in the bottom of any print in a different color.. is another good option.
    For bit more advanced printing: The AMS allows you to put a few layers of PETG on top of your support structures.. without ANY clearance to your PLA model (or vice versa). This makes the support much easier to remove, and also can make your model look much nicer where it was supported.
    Just felt like adding this 😊

    • @ristinnovations

      Yes I do agree with your point that if there only a few layers of other colors like your example of a logo that doesn’t generate much filament waste. I haven’t tried your idea of using PETG as a “interface” on top of supports. I’ll have to try that. Thanks for your comment!😊

    • @oljobo

      @@ristinnovations Yes, it's even a separate setting for the material choice for that support interface in the slicer 😊

    • @oljobo

      @@ristinnovations .. also for the •base• of the support, in case you are using inside-model support. 😊 And remember NO clerance necessary then 😊. Zdistance =0 and also interface spacing can be 0 (if you want)

    I see some Festool track hanging. Do you think this would be up to handling most of the shop improvements/doodads one would find useful in a home woodshop? Storage aids and ESPECIALLY shopvac DC fittings? For the latter, is TPU the best material?
    The incompatibility between the AMS Lite and their CoreXY machines is really disappointing.

    • @ristinnovations

      The Festool track saw is a very versatile system for cutting sheet goods, especially for cutting large sheets of plywood into more manageable pieces. I have 3D printed some dust collection fittings in PLA which have worked well. If you need the flexibility of certain hose connections, then TPU would be your best choice. Regarding Bambu's AMS Lite versus AMS for their Core XY printers I'm sure they have their design reasons, but I haven't seen any details from Bambu on why they are not compatible. Thanks for your comment.

    I have the A1 Mini, and it is an amazing printer, very fast and the prints are very nice.
    I don’t agree with your. Omment about the noise. I have a Creality K1 and I guess the noise level is similar to the X1 from Bambu Lab. It is extremely noisy, it is hard to work in the same room. However the A1 Mini is very quiet, you can barely her the motors, and even the fans are fairly quiet, I have no,problem working just close to the printer.

    • @ristinnovations

      I agree the steppers are quiet, but I guess we will have to agree to disagree on the part cooling fan noise. I do appreciate your comments and I’m glad you are enjoying your A1.

    Why do presenters keep talking about the A1 Mini as a starter printer more than a very good printer for small and or multi color prints. I just used my X1 to make a toothbrush holder that hooks on to my wall mounted soap dish. I wish I had the A1 for that. ( Obviously that was a CAD model.)

    • @ristinnovations

      I do agree the A1 is a great printer for small parts (and multi-color). It’s not just a starter printer; I could see it in print farms, but my comment about it being a good beginner/starter printer is it’s low price point and its user-friendly features. Thanks for your comment.

      But isn't Orca Slicer based on Bambu Studio... wouldn't that mean they are keeping their slicer open source? Or is Open Source to you an All or Nothing thing?
