Goat Format was right when I was starting to play the game as a serious Duelist and even I learned a lot from this discussion. Having spent the last few years witnessing how toxic the modern meta has become, I've turned to Goat Format for nostalgia and simpler times. My gratitude for this video!
Your story is so similar to alot of people! Thanks for checking us out and watching! There is so much goat to be played online and irl the rabbit hole goes deep!
My first starter deck was the old Pegasus deck, which was more or less all I had until the Dragon's Roar / Zombie Madness Structure Decks were released. I was adamant about getting the Dragon deck at the time, but even then, I was awful at customization and card ratios. Nowadays, I realize that the "dream deck" I wanted for Goat Format would have never seen any sort of success, so I made sure to change my strategies entirely.

Very solid and informative video! Thank you for doing this a while ago! I definitely learned a few things and understand how certain timings/windows work. The Sinister Serpent as reoccurring discard fodder within the Standby phase for multiple discard traps blew my mind! Will refer to this in the future for sure!
Shhh you're not supposed to tell them our secrets!
I vibe that PBS outro ❤ growing up with no cable and finishing up an episode of Nova, this hits hard and brings back the old memories.
only the real ones know about that outro! it true these vids wouldnt be possible without viewers like you
important content! ~ @Cameron u should do more video!
Man Cameron is more handsome than I remember 😎👍
Great video. I learned a ton! Thanks!
Awesome video! Really needed some of these calls.
The duo ruling IRL is a harder issue in my opinion. You can tell cards with a curl vs foil bend vs commons when players fan there hand out. Which then becomes not truly random; wish there was a more set in stone policy for irl.
IRL i will roll most times its just way faster to communicate
@@GoatFormat My locals switched to D20 dice for practically everything because a few of our local players can drop roll D6's.
Thanks for the video guys!! This format is so dope 🐐
Thank you chaps for this very helpful resource.
Funny to me that at 29:50 he says you can't activate an effect that will do nothing. But at the beginning he talks about how fail-to-find exists in goat. Activating Thunder Dragon to do nothing!
Thank you guys for this video! What I was running into at ycs Pasadena was that players used quick play spells during damage step. When I declared an attack, they would activate royal decree and scapegoat during damage step lol
You don't enter the damage step immediately after an attack is declared. You can activate cards like Royal Decree and Scapegoat in the battle step before proceeding to the damage step.
27:17 Konami doesn't seem to know their own rules sometimes still, it hasn't changed 😅
Basic ruling question i need clarification on: my opponent activates heavy storm, I chain call of the haunted targeting sangan -> chain resolves.
Now, do i get to search with sangan or Not?
Yes. Sangan is summoned by COTH at chain link 2, Heavy Storm destroys COTH at chain link 1. Sangan is destroyed by COTH's effect simultaneously and then activates in a new chain.
A reason for all of these rulings in the first place is due to the fact that judges didn’t know what they were doing. Hard facts
ruling question, if a monster that was previously snatched then it was booked then re flipped up, got snatched again then snatched a 3rd time & heavy storm was played what happens?
If you're saying it was the owner who snatched it back the second time, it'll go back to the opponent of the owner if snatch is destroyed.
Can you confirm for me about cards like BLS, and Chaos Sorcerer, and even XYZ Dragon Cannon, whether or not they can be special summoned from the grave or from being banished; because their original text said can ONLY be summoned by banishing a Light and Dark vs. the reprinted versions of those cards they say FIRST?
You can premature or call or return a bls or ritual or fusion or whatever as long as it was summoned correctly the first time. Unless it says otherwise
love the video. more pls
9:20-9:30 But can't holding the Dustshoot until your opponent summons a monster be a cheat maneuver too? Because then you're activating the Dustshoot with the knowledge of what the opponent was going to do in their turn, which may affect the decision of which monster you choose to send back.
It seems to me like using phase buttons is the only way to use Dustshoot completely fairly, and that the gamestate is kinda fundamentally broken if you don't. If you gun Dustshoot, your opponent might say they wanted to activate MST. If you don't gun Dustshoot and wait until they make a play, you're getting more information than you should have.
Everyone should be using phase buttons. If people are trying to play cards illegally in the draw phase and give away information because of it, that's their own fault.
@@TKGriffiths Agreed, phase buttons should be required to be used, not optional.
Ruling question: I have TER with one equipped monster on my side of the field. Can my opponent activate and resolve Snatch Steal? My (little) confusion is that TER says "equip max. 1".
yes, you can snatch steal a TER with a monster equipped to it by its own effect
Another scenario quit interesting is mind controlling a set monster that was SS by cyber jar
What about this?
You can change its position on the same turn it was Summoned if it was your opponent's monster
if an opponent , nighmare wheels , my set monster, can i flip it the turn after to defense posis face up ?
No it can’t read nightmare wheel
You can't manually change the battle position of a card affected by Nightmare Wheel. You can still change it with card effects like Tsukuyomi or Desert Sunlight.
Do you read?
in db they should allow goat only judges.
I need some clarification on how Royal Opression works in goat. I was told it can be flipped in response to a summon and used to negate that same summon. I always thought it must be face up first before you are able to use the effect to negate a summon. Plz help. TIA
But what does pot of greed do?
I may need a 30 part series to uncover this
Our friend Marik gonna answer your question be grateful!

What if an opponent won't move on with the game even tho you linked them an official ruling? Is there anything you can do?
@MiezMiez has the correct answer here. Best you can do is call a judge. Best-case scenario, the judge hands you a DQ victory and your opponent gets kicked from the standings. Worst-case, the judge just forces your opponent to accept the ruling and you keep playing. Either way, you don't lose.
The Serp rule threw me off.
Can someone explain jar of greed and mst if u mst my jar do I get the effect ?
If the Jar of Greed was set this turn and your opponent activates their set MST to target your facedown Jar in your end phase of that same turn,
you can't activate the Jar because it's the turn you set it still.
If it's in the following turn and Jar had been set for a turn, you are free to chain Jar to MST and get the effect.
Can I Use Deck Devastation Virus tributing a Fuisiler Dragon that I Just Set With effect??
In Goat Format, no because UDE said so.
I was about to get back in the Game because Goat Format but this sounds so complicates
So if I understood it correctly: TT must always be CL1?
No, TT can be any chain link in response to a summon, as the entire chain exist in response to it (This is the natural result of chain link 1 BLS with priority, chain link 2 TT). But if you summon a monster and the opponent has no response, then both players passing priority means that there is no longer an open window to use TT.
@Cameron Saunders Oh okay thank you. I was thinking TT as CL1 because of the missed timing opportunities like with that different dimension card.
Ok i got a question.
ULTIMATE OFFERING!
It wasnt erratad until 2006!
Does this mean you can use its effects to summon during your own battle phase? Based on the text of the card there is absolutely no reason you shouldnt be able to. Unless it was a translation error??
Theres no reason you shouldn’t be able to otk with chick the yellow and ultimate offering.
It was known to work the way it was later errata'd to say during goat format despite the card text not accurately describing how the card functions at the time. You can find this to be the case with other cards like Necrovalley or Sasuke Samurai #4 where the card text doesn't accurately describe how the card functions, but the rulings tell you how they work.
2 set Saku opp has solemn. Opp atk, I saku. Opp solemns. Can I saku 2nd?
Also does this work with the 2nd saku being a BoM?
No because the attack declaration window is over.
You can activate book of moon after solemn
Would you side with the Duo player if the person getting Duo'd hasn't shuffled their hand the entire game?
If you're saying the hand isn't in a shuffled state (for example they drew a card for turn on the previous turn and the Duo player knows that card is still on the far left) and the Duo player clicks a card, I don't consider that a valid random selection.
If Duo is activated turn 1 none of that applies though, they drew 5 cards simultaneously from a shuffled deck so the hand is clearly in a shuffled state.
if duo hits first night assailant with no flips in gy, and then I discard MoF for duo, can I return MoF with night assailant effect??
Yes. It doesn't activate or select a target until Duo has resolved fully, by which point Faith will be in the graveyard as a valid target.
People calling modern toxic when delinquent duo exists in Goat is wild
Jose 14:20 😂
Sprit Reaper and Snatch Steal, finally a situation where MST negates 😂
AYE YO CAN SOMEONE HIT ME WITH THAT TL:DR? FOR THE TIME CONSCIENCE, BAND TOGETHER AND UNITE FOR MY PERSONAL BENEFIT.
Eddison rated pls :)
Checking decks with knock it's just gross and lame :D
Oh now i know where my confusion comes from battle replay. In 2006 they changed it when i was still playing competatively in my head if battle replay happens and you attack with different monster can the original attack and for me yes and no was both correct answers and confused myself now i know why :D
