Speaking as a veteran graphic designer and a recent full-time freelancer, I can attest that Ania’s take is solid and reflective of the realities, good and bad, of this profession. I still love this job.

A lot of these frustrations I felt so alone so it's very refreshing hearing that I'm not the only one. Please keep up with your videos, they're very informative.

I definitely agree with the whole "taking advantage of creative people" section!! Especially the part where you said it takes so much brain power!!! UGH and they won't understand when explain that to them. Cause I'm the same!! I need to take a day off after a full day of designing

I relate so much with what you said in the end about getting a degree and then stopping designing for a while 🥺💖

I worked as a graphic designer for 10yrs both in-house and freelance. I love watching designer journeys like yours because it still resonates with me even though its no longer my profession as I’m now pursuing what I love which is illustration and animation. What you said in 6:49 reminds me of a professor in college who told me that when you do graphic design you tend to become “A jack of all trades but a master of none” because there’s just so many things expected of the profession unless you break off the mold which can be risky as well..

Yeah I absolutely love typography but it is frustrating to choose one. I also have an added frustration with the special letters Turkish alphabet has, üişçö... When I finally find the perfect font with free licence aaannddd... no special letters...

Hahaha oh no.. I can totally imagine that finding typefaces in another language/alphabet other than English is even worse :') i'm sorry about that.

sometimes this is a good way to spark some sort of creativity but often you dont have time to modify and customize 😢

I think i am uncreative because i can't come up with anything good what can i do to become crative? Is it just a thing you have to be born with?

it comes with time, build your musle by looking at a lot of beautiful things (not only design wise, but art, architecture) and do something small everyday.

I'm an aspiring designer. I dislike graphic designer as they're sought after design professional but there is so much gatekeeping, low progression, preference of women over men and lack of defined management strategies in my region and want pump dump work. I'm a industrial design/ product design graduate and many people don't know what I can contribute to the industry. No one wanted to hire me for entry level jobs. Since I was unemployed, I decided to apply for foreign uni for design. I got multiple rejections when applying for reputed design masters abroad even after stating I need holistic experience in statement of purpose. Right now I got admission to masters in interaction design for a public university in Sweden which evaluated my inclination for course based on my graduate portfolio which was formal and minimal and I provided my IELTS score of 6.5. Meanwhile I learnt a lot of design tools through Udemy and makes me wonder if I can learn everything or I can become a designer in this madness😮. I'm thinking about game design/new media as they are big fields and graphic design feels miniscule in front of this domain😂
