      What i do is chop up the first few seconds of the beat usually where the chord plays and put it in Quick Sampler and itll kinda show you the Root Note. Its not always right but helps start looking for it 😂

      Tbh it’s usually the first note of the main bass note and then set into minor. But I’m sure they are working on a key finder because it would only make sense to have it

      That’s what people say and I didn’t read any dev notes about it. But to my ear, it sounds smoother.

  • @TheRyanKellner
    @TheRyanKellner ปีที่แล้ว +7

    To clarify, there are 3 reasons I can think of to still use Antares Artist/Pro versions (from what I can see):
    1. Logic’s pitch correction does not have a low latency mode. This means while recording, there is latency when monitoring. Logic’s “low latency mode” 95% of the time turns pitch correction off.
    2. I have found the “Flex-Tune” knob on the artist & pro versions of antares incredibly useful; especially when trying to make higher retune speeds sound natural. As far as I can tell, the “tolerance knob” on the new logic pitch correction acts more like the “humanize” knob in Antares. This essentially looks like Autotune EFX with no “low latency” functionality for live tracking.
    3. Antares has the signature algorithm and sound that the masses have come to know. Yes, Logic’s pitch correction, waves tune realtime, and slate’s metatune all sound VERY comparable. However for myself, antares just adds something creamy to the tonality of the sound that sounds polished and professional.

      Yeah you don’t need to buy any other plug-ins but you need to buy a newer computer or mess with that patch to upgrade Smh I’ll stick to Fl 21.2

    • @Skrenja
      @Skrenja ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MajikMuzqI disagree. These additions are great but there's still a few third plugins that are pretty necessary for electronic music production.
      Beat breaker is a good addition but it's kind of limited in functionality compared to something like Effectix 2 or MRythmimizer.
      The new pitch corrector is cool, but still doesn't sound good on stereo sources, nor does it have a low latency mode. Also, while Flex Pitch can get the job done, it's still _completely_ outclassed by Melodyne.
      There's also _still_ no quality multiband compressor (with width parameters and sidechaining) built into logic, nor is there any dynamic EQ plugin (besides the mastering assistant.) The multipressor is extremely outdated and needs an overhaul.
      The adaptive limiter still sucks/ sounds super harsh when compared to any quality mastering limiter and most of the stock distortion plugins are pretty lacklustre too.
      Logic still doesn't have a plugin search function or good way to organize samples.
      Logic also lacks a plugin like iZotope RX to remove vocals and other things from samples with AI.
      We're getting _close_ to not needing extra plugins in logic -- but we're not quite there yet. Sure, most of these issues can be fixed with free third party plugins but the point still stands.

    If you want the T-pain auto tune sound, then I'm sure logic auto tune is fine to use. I'd like to hear if it beats Melodyne, for subtle tuning. Logic needs searchable plugins, yes a folder can be made with favourites, searchable feature would simply be better and is not hard to implement, should be basic standard stuff. Time stretching in logic still sounds terrible, bubbly artefacts. Snappier response with the use of cores is needed, none of this low latency button rubbish, the whole point of a snappier system is so you don't have to start turning off plugins or freezing tracks, not in this day in age, with systems being so powerful. Pro tools is the only other DAW, which has these power management issues. Studio One is super reliable and stable, as well as Ableton, however, if you grow up using a system, then I tend to stick to it. Logic still has some features which I prefer, instant buss routing is super timesaver.

      @Baywood  ปีที่แล้ว +2

  • @Bradleybrookwood
    @Bradleybrookwood ปีที่แล้ว

    Well that pitch correction sounds way more natural than in previous versions of logic. Did they finally make it zero latency to where you can have pitch correction turned on and you can record without delay? Waves audio says that their pitch correction is zero latency or something to wear if there was latency you wouldn't even notice it but even still it makes the fan on my laptop Speed up like crazy.

    • @Baywood
      @Baywood  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree! something sounds smoother to me. but I still believe you will have latency if you record with this

    • @Bradleybrookwood
      @Bradleybrookwood ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Baywood is the latency bad enough that you could actually hear a delay or is it similar to the waves tune plug-in where you probably won't hear very much latency so they say. Is it true that the waves tune plug-in has zero latency or are they just puffing?

    • @Skrenja
      @Skrenja ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BradleybrookwoodOn my M2 Mini and using a buffer size of 32 and sample rate of 96khz, the latency isn't unusable while recording with just pitch correction itself. It's a little laggy, but useable enough to perform with it on. However, don't expect to record in real time with autotune and a whole vocal chain after it, unless you're using low latency plugins exclusively. The latency combined with other plugins really adds up.

    • @Bradleybrookwood
      @Bradleybrookwood ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Skrenja so what are all the different low latency plug-ins? Our compressors and noise gates and limiters considered low latency in logic? If I were to use the pitch correction and logic 10.6 and just have that as the only plug-in, would there still be any delay or would it be zero latency?

    • @Skrenja
      @Skrenja ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bradleybrookwood I am not sure which plugins in particular cause the most latency, but usually 3rd party plugins are the worst for it. Excluding limiters and pitch related stuff, Apple's built in plugins tend to introduce minimal latency. Try enabling "low latency mode" and see what gets disabled throughout the project. You can then remove those plugins before recording (expect for the pitch correction.) Make sure you turn low latency back off before you record, otherwise pitch correction will stay disabled. Also make sure you're recording at the lowest possible buffer size your computer can handle without the project freezing or making popping noises.
      Like I said, with just pitch correction on, you should be okay to record. A little latency, but it's not unusable. A compressor and a Logic EQ will also probably be fine, just don't go crazy with adding a million plugins.

    @baywood Question for you: I followed some of your other videos and manually corrected some vocals with flexpitch and those are fully quantized to the notes but when I run this pitch correction over the top of that (just to confirm) there are still parts that give me the autotune and it sounds awful. I have confirmed the key is the same for both but I am still getting a few notes that just sound like a robot. Other than simply re-tracking the vocal, any tips/suggestions here?

    • @Baywood
      @Baywood  ปีที่แล้ว

      How does it sound with out Flex Pitch and just the pitch correction?

    • @wadegurnett
      @wadegurnett ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Baywood Just the Pitch Correction sounds worse than with the Flex Pitch. Where the FP + PC had some slight robotic sounds, the just PC sounds fine most of the time but has some really awful peaks. The just FP sounds more natural but because I knew the original take had some pitchy areas, so I ran it through pitch correction, just to be safe. I also shopped our the vocal to a producer and he thought it needed slight pitch correction (which made me question the work I did). When he sent it back, it sounded worse than this-like he just ran it through waves without even listening back. I know the FP is in key and hitting the right notes, so maybe I should just trust those and go with it - I like the more natural sound for this track.
      Thanks for the video and the response.
