As Gels mentioned, CF is very light and strong. Please keep in mind that most aftermarket CF parts are covered fiberglass. I think for a daily driver, a carbon fiber stock shaped or vented hood and a small wing spoiler are enough to give the car some flare and make it stand out without it looking too ridiculous. Once you get to the carbon fiber doors, fenders, body kits, etc, then it gets expensive not only cuz they're expensive in and of themselves but also cuz carbon fiber is a lot more expensive to paint if you decide to paint those body panels. For what it would cost to paint all those panels, you could get the car wrapped with a really cool design.
As working in the Aerospace industry it has lost some “wow factor” for me but I do love the look of a satin 2x2 weave which looks amazing. You do have to watch for delamination when working/using it. Usually cracks in CF is down to material science. About 90% of "CF hoods" on the market aren't CF, they are fiberglass hoods with a carbon fiber skin. Fiberglass has a higher expansion/contraction rate than carbon fiber. What happens when you laminate 2 different materials with different exp/con rates? It flexes and bows, fibers (carbon) breaks and the resin becomes stressed and eventually cracks. There are also different ways of "curing" resin. I does make me sad that most CF parts you see online are fiberglass+CF wrap+clear coat. I wonder if it is purely cost prohibitive or some other factor that leads to this.
Pure carbon fibre will need autoclave (high pressure oven) which is not cheap. Also with bigger parts like car hood you need vacuum infusion of which the consumables (vacuum bag and tape) is not cheap and PITA. With just wrapping, you coat the resin by hand and dry at room temperature.
I can remove and install all my carbon fiber exterior panels without any help. I kept all my factory pieces to swap out for harsher weather conditions and to persevere and treat the CF parts when not installed. Plus, the CF parts can be painted. These are a plus worth mentioning in my opinion.

Correct me if I’m wrong , but does the carbon fiber change colors for a certain amount of time ? Especially in a really hot sun?
Yes it will fade to a yellowish sheen unless you spend a shitton on clearcoating haha
You can find some very light carbon fiber parts not only CF , surely not strong as carbon used in racing but still functional. I have rear spoiler on M3 and front spliter both light as feather but I wouldn't hit it with hamer that's for sure .
Question is do you need it at all , I got it just because it looks cool with factory carbon roof .
I have a fiberglass 06-09 Cadillac STS V hood on my car. I was surprised it weighed so much more and was so much thicker then the steel hood that was on the car.
wowwowowowowow, ZX stole? The headlights on the EB110 say Nissan on them. Google it ;)
Yeah lol the diablo stole them as well from nissan. I don't really care though tbh, they look really neat
Why do I feel like the 2000’s car scene is coming back??
MONEYHOESCARSANDCLOTHES😂
Carbon is good and all until it starts to crack or the clear starts to fade....but I do think it’s worth it on a full racecar when it’s on a showcar why even worry about weight reduction.
Can u guys do a video on carbon fibre wheels
If you want the look you could just wrap with the carbon fiber look I don't know if the price matches up or is cheaper then just getting the carbon fiber. The s2000 I have is wrapped but I bought the car after the car was done.
Have an 06 mustang as my first car and when i bought it the hood was so bad i just replaced it with a carbon fiber hood because repainting it would be the same price as getting the cf one
*adds carbon fiber wrap*
😂
It’s nice until it cracks and shatters on impact that would have done little but scratch a plastic version of it.
I love it but not on my daily that lives on the highway 😭
Such a rip moment when it happens 😅
So has anyone heard of carbon roof for an NC Miata with the retractable hard top?
This might come in handy for relocating engine in the boot by reducing the strain on the rear axle via weight reduction parts
Make a video
So you want a lexus ls400
Personally i feel if you're doing carbon for esthetics they i say just go for carbon wrap. And if for weight reduction yoy best go the whole 9yards and might aswell diet too loool u know what they say.. Weight reduction starts at home lol full race mode
Even the best carbon vinyl doesnt look the same. It's all personal preference. I've had carbon vinyl wrapped parts and ended up buying real carbon because it looks so much better.
@@brainbenton1270 thanks for you insight. Yea dude i guess its all personal preference. I was probably thinking in a cost effective mannor. However if you've got the money goo for it.
So we not going to talk about how that outro instrumental slaps !? 👀ok
I have a 2011 g37s manual coupe and I would like to know where I could get real carbon fiber parts to replace the OEM parts? I have been looking but the only ones I have found are covers to put on top of the OEM parts. I am looking for real carbon fiber parts.
Graphene up next 😂
I'm getting one for my coyote swapped new edge mustang and I'm thinking about getting a wrx wagon if I do fenders bumper and hood will be because it looks awesome
Maybe next we'll have carbon nanotube car parts.
cf for the win!
The Ferrari F40 was the first car to be made out of carbon...
I would love to send you a picture of my RSX it has hood hatch doors seats from seibon and I love it definitely a difference
How do I send pics
I honestly want to swap my hood and trunk out for carbon fiber OE looking ones despite them being 700+ dollars a piece, but what exact care do I need to do for them?
You can go one more by applying clear bra over it and then the ceramic coating. The gel coating on cf are known to fade over time especially with the hood being beaten by the sun's rays.
Ceramic coating, or alot of clearcoat on each piece. So expect to spend 1000 a piece if not more considering the process. Also, once you get those pieces it's a slippery slope to the 400 dollar front lip, 700 dollar side skirts, and the 600 dollar rear diffuser😂😂
Yea I remember they made a car nothing but carbon fiber it was a few million I think.
I'm here!
Okay, what If I want a carbon fiber body panel or hood or what ever, but I dont like the look of it its just ehh not my style and doesnt fit my car. Can I wrap the carbon fiber afterwards? I want the weight reduction of the carbon fiber with out the look
You can get it wrapped or painted over to match your exterior color.
That exit sign is huanting me 👻
GOOD STUFF!
I am getting CF hood for my Stang 07.
Yay! I'm not the only one who says curbber furbber!!! xD
Fitment industries and donut media collab when?
Dude yes please.👀🙏🏼
Isnt also one of the downsides with carbon fiber parts is water can get baked under the layer?
Shout out to Allstate for buying me my Seibon hood on my Miata! 😄🤙🏽
How did that happen
@@superevilnine9 Long story short... Guy backed over my car and ruined the entire hood, bumper etc. Allstate adjuster came out to look at it and estimate the damage. Because it's 26 yrs old none are really in the scrap yard and parts like that especially. So they quoted me a new OEM hood $730 from Mazda (discontinued of course) and I asked him does it have to be a aluminum hood or can I do aftermarket? So I looked up a Seibon hood and found it at a better price and we quoted it with that lol. Saved me enough $$$ from having the car totaled out too!
What are your thoughts about the Acura TSX?
It's not as finicky as the TSA
PAKTRA PRODUCTIONS The wha?
@@GloobaTSX the Travel Security Agency which can arrest you up for bringing shampoo on an airplane, if you think it's a bomb 🤯

@LuckyCharms777 I don't know *_how the hell_* I got that wrong 🥴
love seeing my car within the first 3 seconds of the vid ((;;;
Where can I get real carbon fiber
“Removable carbon ruff”
This comment didn't get a like from fitment industries
Nice intro
Does carbon fiber cars rust? Or they look like new all the time?
Might help if you watched the video or you would understand that carbon fiber has no iron in it. Rust is iron oxide. Come on, dude.
Don’t they use cf in gt3 racing?
I mean maybe!?
