This is a "FREE to play" game. No one calls things "free" that you need to bust out your wallet as a pre-requisite for. The only exception is the premium pass, but that is a weird one that requires you to bust out the wallet and then cancel it. This is a discount, plain and simple.

Flairs are kind of weak sauce. You can only see them when YOU PLAY THE CARD. Then they go away. I was hoping for persistent effects that make the cards look cooler on the battlefield

That would solve the issue of players not wanting to waste dupes on flairs while still allowing them to acquire and use the flairs

The flairs for the card face are great for binders and display boards. The battle ones are cool for battle, but they’re usually really small and easily missed. My favorite is the flaming swirl, because you can see it distinctly and it looks nice. Some of the little sparkle bursts are so negligible.
I love the promo pack events; I make it a personal challenge to get the chase card in all 9 languages! Was able to do it with Lapras...took 46 packs though. Good video will be watching every Wednesday.
personally, i dislike the distracting flair effects. the standard card art and sound effects are good enough for me, both for admiring my collection, and for battling. all extra copies beyond the 2 i need in my collection i will save them for trading in 2025. 🙂
The new haunter is actually very good, being able to go first and evolve into promo haunter is actually scary because it can oneshot stuff like exeggcute, diglett, staryu, caterpie and more, with gio it’s 70% of the Pokémon. and even if you don’t run promo haunter, the opponent doesn’t know if your gastly evolved into old or new haunter, leading to suboptimal plays from your opponent. I played a lot of seaking, it’s bssically the same thing I won so many games with just 1 attack and they concede. in my opinion promo haunter is a big buff for any gengar deck
i like the regular effects better. not because they look cooler but the battle effects cant be displayed in binders and albums. if they fixed that then the battle effects would probably be cooler. great vids dude, used your butterfree deck which might be the most fun i've had playing and frustrating other people into conceding! bless up.

We should be able to apply both Cosmetic and Battle flairs to a pokémon, rather than having to pick one or the other. Battle flairs look cooler, but after the card hits the board, it's just a flair-less card and you wish you had the Cosmetic. Also, having to unlock them by order (even hiding them until you unlock the first) feels unnecessary.

Literally couldn't care less about flair. The only reason I even bother getting any is to get rid of some of my bulk cards. If they add some flair that actually looks good it might be worth it, but for now it is complete trash.
I wouldn’t even compare the two at all. Spending money on a game is much different than card collecting it’s more like unlocking cards just as u would unlock characters in a different video game and collecting real Pokémon cards is a whole different hobby imo

That isn’t to say that they should have the same amount of cards as paid players but rather that they shouldn’t be falling too far behind because they aren’t interested in spending money on the game. Remember that many who play this game are children. Not only that but by severely restricting free to play players abilities to open packs on new sets, they are potentially risking a huge portion of their player base simply quitting or switching to a different game. Games like these should have more rewards available for players who want to put in time to get more packs. Opening packs is one of the fun parts of this game and by limiting the ability of their player to acquire packs through putting in time, they might end up only playing for a few minutes a day just to open the two free packs. Right now the rewards for winning Pokémon battles are extremely lack luster (or often just literally nothing) and if they want to keep people actually playing their game, they need to offer an actual reason to want to do it.

I use flair on common cards like zebstrika when i have too many & 1 with other language, if i want to put it in an album 😂

An important thing to point out is there is paid and unpaid gold. They're not treated the same in the game. So read carefully to maximize your money.
