No one is cosplaying anyone in particular. All members came with their own style and character, making the perfect combination. Their clothes are not 100% traditional, but a fusion with modern. Each band member has preferences and adds their personality in the design. Sometimes more traditional, sometimes less, but always there. Just last year their designer said she didn't use kimono fabric for a first time. The band has some anime openings and endings, movie ost, tv and commercial participation. They won contests, judge others, have their other bands and solo projects. The pick that Beni uses for the shamisen has nothing to do with a fan. This must be some legend or misinterpretation. It' a big thick pick called bachi. The other big string instrument is koto, the Japanese equivalent of the Chinese guzheng and the Korean gayageum. We call is harp, but it turns out it's a zither. The koto has smaller version that is also used in Wagakki band. Also, did someone mention the vocalist is using shigin in her singing? It's a way of reciting traditional poems, but she incorporates that in the vocals. In some songs Yuko (vo) is doing the actual shigin, like in "Akatsuki no ito". "Sun wheel" and "Bou getsu" has that too. Wagakki band is actually formed after the vocalist Yuko, the shakuhachi player Daisuke and koto player Kiyoshi had a band called Hanafugetsu. They (obviously) also played traditional music, but it's more mellow. Yuko also plays piano there. Soon after, Yugo decided to add more instruments and try something new. And here they are. Hanafugetsu are still active though, in between the Wagakki free time.
Awesome reaction once again! It is always good to see your family in having fun with you! So really hope we will see them more in the channel with your bearded face! Wagakki is a cool thing to learn. Have not heard of them before seeing them here on your channel, but they are a really cool group and really digging this stuff! Thanks for show it to us!
the traditional drums = wadaiko, played by kurona the traditional "guitar" = tsugaru shamisen (or just shamisen), played by beni ninigawa the bamboo flute = shakuhachi, played by daisuke kaminaga the horizontal harp = koto, played by kiyoshi ibukuro wagakki bands singer, yuko suzuhana, does play in another folk band together with kiyoshi and daisuke, that band is called hanafugetsu, as well as doing a solo jpop/jrock career
Nice reaction 👍👍! That fan shaped pick Beni is using on the shamisen is called a bachi. The high end(rare) ones are made of tortoise shell and are very expensive and they wear out from constant playing. 🤘🤘🤘
Great reaction! I'm so glad that you liked Wagakki-Band and reacted twice continuously!! though there are a lot of great songs of them, i think 'Senbonzakura' is the best one to get into them! 'Sun Wheel (日輪)' and 'Bring me to life with Amy Lee' are highly recommended, too! Really looking forward to your next reaction to Wagakki-Band!!
Niceeee ! Another wagakki band reaction with daughter 😄 Maybe time for you to check out their music video,, try : "Senbonzakura" wich is their most popular song "Ignite" that has more modern sound and heavy "Sun whell" their newest stuff that was incredible awesome or "Yuki Kageboushi" personally one of my favourite bcz the fantastic music and the shamisen beni is really2 shine on this song 😍😅 Thank you
Hey... I just checked out all of your Babymetal reactions. In Karate you were talking about European crowds at festivals. I really would like to see you react to "Blind Guardian - The Bard's Song / Valhalla" live in Wacken. From what I get you're into crowd interaction and such... Those 2 songs (1 video) might blow your mind in that regard. Also... Blind Guardian is awesome ;)
Always love seeing traditional stuff get mixed in. This does make me think of how much I would love to see your reaction or your daughter's reaction to The Hu. Mongolian folk metal with traditional instruments blended in and throat singing. So good.
The cosplay guys name is Wasabi, and not only that during concert and for MVs he tends to be topless and have something written that corresponds to the song or the concert.
OSN trying to explain Kabuki theater with (our shared) limited understanding of it ... priceless. "He's not squatting to look weird." Sorry, y'all, and welcome to the USA ROFL
@@OldSkuleNerd when he have that mask, he is considered to act as a traditional monster, a little creepy or mysterious one but not scary one, so he usually add more acting into the play
It would be great to have daddy like you. My father likes Celine Dion, on the other hand I like wagakkiband, lovebites , and band-made. We haven't talked for so long about music.
'Wagakki Band' is a Super-Band. All are master of their craft and they have more talents (like other instruments, teaching, ...) 5 of the members leading their own band/projects in which 4 do also vocals in those. Also Yuko Suzuhana (the singer) teaches the Shigin singing (recite japanese poems). She won a national championship some years ago. 😉Funfact: She also does sword dance and back in the day Samurai had to learn those Shigin (poem) It was part of their education. I don't know how you got the idea that they traditionally use fan to strum the strings of the instrument but actually I've never seen anybody plays shamisen(japanese banjo thing)with fan but they use bachi(the fan like pick the girl holds in the video).btw, I'm a native japanese so probably I'm right about it. and one more thing, in kabuki they paint faces but never waer masks I think you are thinking of form of art older than kabuki which we call "No". thank you I love your reactions especially for Babymetal.

Yeah, one of my favourite japanese bands! It's not cosplay, it's traditional jaoanese style mixed with visual kei (japanese subculture and music wave). ;) You should react another japanese band The Gazette, my favourite banf ever, I love them so much. Can you react them? If you want something heavy, please react "Deux" live version from Dogma tour final concert 2016. They have songs in many rock and metal genres, also amazing ballads, I recommend ballad "Sono Koe wa Moroku" live from Ninth tour final concert 2019, amazing song.
It's cool to see a father and daughter doing this together. I lost my father about a year ago, and the only music we ever agreed on was Buddy Holly. I would have loved for him to have been willing to listen to any of my music with an open mind, but alas, it ever happened. Noh and Kabuki are two different things. The mask is a Noh mask, as are the ones that WWE'S Asuka wears. Also, I don't see Cloud Strife. I just see a Japanese guy with blonde hair. I don't recall Cloud ever officially looking Asian. Lastly, I took a drink every time the word "traditionally" was said, and now my liver looks like Swiss cheese and works as poorly as a socialist government. Oof!
technically its a Noh mask(rather than Kabuki, even more older). the shamisen(japanese banjo-ish instrument) is using a large fan shaped-pick. "wagakki"=means japanese instruments. too bad you didnt do Band-Maid, like one of the more poppy ones.
not the best video for first impression, it is a 2 part pure instrumental to show off their individual skills, a thing for fans to explorer the band She should really watch the previous video, that is much easier to enjoy as others recommend, Senbonzakura is definitely great to watch too, the music video is very beautiful, but for a reaction, please use live version to avoid copyright stuff

From what I get you're into crowd interaction and such... Those 2 songs (1 video) might blow your mind in that regard.

Bard's Song would be a good example of being popular enough to not have to sing your songs at festivals yourself anymore.

Good choice. The instrument you were describing is called a shimasen. Check out The Shimasen Girls.
