@@jamec7329 I started this trip in NYC. On the 25th, I drove to Santa Monica, then to Las Vegas, where I dropped the rental car off and stayed for the rest of the week before flying back to Virginia, where I live.
@@HyperActive7 Not much as my company paid for my stay in Vegas as I was there for business, and I don't care for gambling (although I may occasionally play cash hold 'em).
Just wanted to pop in and says thanks for your real time road trip from NY. Thanks for not playing music in the background. Very relaxing and beautiful. Looking forward to more trips!
Ok, this goes to the top of my list of favorite videos; ones that I will watch again. The beautiful sunrise over the mountains was a treat. The highway from Cortez was wonderful, though it got a little wonky near the Utah border. The change in the landscape is amazing. Did you experience the change in elevation? This is a keeper! Bravo, Uncle Coolie! Bravo! Seeing the sky change from dark to light was a treat also. What was that sound at the traffic light in Durango, CO, Uncle Coolie? 🤣
Thank you! I got to experience the elevations because I brought my Garmin GPS navigation which showed the elevations at all time. This day and the previous day (driving across the Great Plains) were the two days that I enjoyed the most of this trip, although I enjoyed all five days very much.
I lived in Colorado for 10 years and loved driving throughout the state- some of the most beautiful scenery in the US. Once again you've made me feel as though I was taking the trip with you. Looking forward to the next one.
Wow, that was a cold morning and again fantastic scenery. Over 10000 ft! Unbelievable that they built such a good road there. I guess that at that altitude the gasoline consumption was also very high. Once because of the slope and then also because of the little oxygen. In any case, a great experience to drive this fantastic road. Thank you for letting us be part of it!
Going through the four corners region of the west is some true scenic gem few film and I've been to Grand Canyon a couple of times, so it was nice to see part of the park and the fact the view hasn't changed much since I was there several years ago.
Awesome! I first visited the Grand Canyon back in the 1980s when I a little kid, and this was the 3rd time visiting (the 2nd was in my CA-NY video from 2017).
Hey! You are a SAINT man. These videos really help me sleep and it's very interesting what other parts of the US look like. Keep up the good work dude. 👍 I love the real time road trips
Do you move cars from place to place as a job or do you do this just for the channel? I am surprised that I have been watching some of these, they are kind of hypnotic.
I do these for pleasure. I had to travel to Las Vegas for work for a week, so I decided to drive out and fly back. I just drove to Santa Monica before driving back to Las Vegas.
Boy, the Harpin Curve is quite something... I wonder how scary realy is during a snowy night. Thanks for the vid! Just wondering: the roads you took around the CO-NM border, you knew them already, I imagine.
I agree. Several of these roads would be too scary in bad weather. Yes, I planned the route through Utah instead of through 4 Corners because I wanted to see Forrest Gump Hill.
How do you plan for overnight hotel stay on your cross continental driving trip? And dealing with fatigue is another thing I want to ask, I mean the longest distance I ever drove is about 1000 miles away from my home, it was exhausting experience.
I plan my trips in advance. I map out (using Google Maps, among others) to determine how much driving I can get in one day, and I plan my overnight stops accordingly. I'd do the same, in your case, and consider which freeways/roads to take, which parks/rest stops to spend time at, etc. I usually book my hotels, flights, rental cars, etc, at least 3-5 weeks in advance.
Thanks! I have to travel to the west coast for work this spring, so, naturally, I'm going to incorporate a road trip into it. I just haven't planned the routing yet though.
You should look into becoming a Pilot given the number of miles you fly. Then hire a plane for these trips. When you take into account your lost labour hours it'll more than cover the cost of it compared to driving.
Thank you! I want to get the last part--Kingman to Santa Monica--uploaded, along with the San Antonio to Herndon, VA real time videos before I do my next big road trip, which will be in May.
That's Forrest Gump Hill, even though this scene appeared in several movies that came out years before Forrest Gump, such as National Lampoon's Vacation.
I've passed through Richmond so many times, and I have two separate trips' videos uploaded already (my east coast road trip, and my Miami to Virginia 2021 trip). I'll keep this in mind for a future trip though.
Thank you! I would love to do the US-66 route, but that route is no longer continuous, so a lot of detours would have to be taken, but I still plan to do it at some point.
It's not my camera. I keep track of the temperatures shown on the dashboard, about every 15-30 minutes. The camera has a temperature sensor, but it won't work inside a car, unless I just want to record the temperature inside the car.
The sun coming up over at the fields is beautiful
I enjoyed that too.
That is why Colorado is awesome.
Unclecoolie is amazing done so much traveling with him.
All over America and into canada.
Just the most memorable virtual trips you could ever do.
Hi unclecoolie hope you're well finishing up the pan American highway from Alaska to Peru when weather permits which isn't much this time of year😥lol

What should to do If a car breaks down in the desert on empty road?
Probably panic. Actually, I'd just call the rental car company. But there were spots that barely had any cellular signal.

at 2:30:22 two strange things in the air, what are they?
I think they were hot air balloons.
