Pushing the sleeping guard works well for Beckett’s character: the East India Company had its own armed forces, and as Beckett did say, when goods don’t cross borders, armies will. Beckett is displeased with the ineffectuality of the Royal Navy and its armed forces, and so won’t trust them.
4:26 is a favorite of mine. James tells Will that Jack "just wants Elizabeth for himself," and Jack doesn't even deny it! He just retorts, "Pot. Kettle. Black." The 'pot calling the kettle black' is an expression for when someone is being a mouthy hypocrite. Jack was essentially calling James out for ALSO wanting Elizabeth for himself just as much as Jack and Will did at the time.
@@EliRetroVHS642 On the one hand, yes, Jack’s goal is to get rid of Jones, but on the other hand, if Jack hadn’t desired Elizabeth, he wouldn’t have been killed by the Kraken. Norrington, too, might feel some envy toward young Turner, who took his fiancée, leaving him with no choice but to follow a path of ambition. So, besides the obvious object they’re fighting over (the key), there might be something more going on. It seems the creators decided not to emphasize the love triangle, but the viewer can still pick up on the subtext or interpret the events however they like. (This is a good movie, and that's why they cut a lot out, so they wouldn’t spoon-feed every scene and leave room for thought)

The story of the priest should have been left in. Not only is it great on its own, but the fact that out of all the empty islands in the Caribbean, Davy Jones chose to bury his heart on that one makes it even better
3:26 When Jack and Gibbs realize Will was working for Beckett, Jack puts his left hand on his right forearm, right over the letter “P” branded on him by Beckett himself. It reinforces Beckett’s earlier mentioning of both he and Jack “left their mark on the other” to Will when he picks up a pirate brand in his office. Also, Jack has an expression of pain on his face, as if he’s reliving that moment. Also, in the original Liar’s Dice game, Will’s and Jones’ rolls are the complete opposite. Will has four sixes and one three, and Jones has four threes and one six. A perfect mirror.
It's a cool scene but I understand why they cut it. It just feels a little weird and out of context. Davy Jones and his story for this film was over already once he discovered the heart was missing from the chest. It's just kind of pointless to show him again. The scene also feels kind of goofy, but I really don't know why that is.
But with this scene some context to worlds end would have made more sense. I always thought that scene where becket brought the heart aboard the dutchmen was the first time jones was ordered to do things but this last scene proved that it wasnt
They should've kept it in, but only have us see the Dutchman. If they didn't do the close ups of the crew and just had everything else, it'd be perfect
@@jarofdirt8359 I feel like Norrington getting his career back adds better closure to his part in this movie and sets up well for the next one, but after that, everything from Norrington asking to stab the heart to the end with the map being filled in feels unnecessary
