The Black Betty video is a timeless peice of art made before big time production was a MTV requirement. An old farmhouse yard, a couple cute groupies, a few of the coolest bikes going, mix in a Leadbelly tune and some of the hottest guitar licks ever and 45 years later its still magic.
Myke Scavone needs to watch TH-cam and see that “ Black Betty” is watched by so many people of all ethnic backgrounds! It’s truly amazing and such a loved Song!
We're from the same town, North Plainfield NJ. I remember going to Binghamton, NY with his brother and a few friends in the middle of a snow storm to see his band Sauce. Had a great time. Great memories.

Nice interview. I was very sad when I learned that the Doughboys are no longer performing together. If someone asked me to name my top ten favorite bands, the Doughboys would definitely be one of them.

I always looked at Billy Bartlett as a guitar slinger! Saw him a lot of weekends in Oxford Ohio at the Boars Head! Heard Black Betty a year or two before it became famous. At that time Billy was the quickest lead player in the business. I heard Billy lived in Liberty In. That is where I live. Ironically I never knew that. I was going to try and look him up but unfortunately I heard he passed. He is still one of the greatest in my mind. RIP
@@sandykayepresents-abreatho9146 Yes he was. We also worked at a florist together and we were the only long hairs in the whole school but Myke did not get harassed like I did. He was much cooler than me even though we both played harmonica. haha.

Bill Bartlett, 77 years old, died peacefully at home on August 20, 2022. While he knew that his neurological disease would eventually win, he fought it full on for many years with his determined commitment and vigor.
Hi. Elegidily, I'm not one hundred percent sure, but I may know the mother of the singer who sang lead in Ram Jam for ol Black Betty. She has a picture of Myke Scavone in her room. She says, pointing to allegidly, Myke Scavones picture and says Myke was a friend of hers in another time. Allegedly she's Joni Mitchell. Myke might remember her. He should visit her as well as the interviewer if you like cats. One of the guys in Ram Jam who is in Ol Black Betty video looks similar to the former legend lead singer of Queen.
Dreadfully sorry, but if four geezers called Starstruck hadn't cut the song Black Betty in 1975 in Cleveland, Ohio, I rather doubt Mr. Scavone would be interviewed here.

It has been almost 20 years since I've seen my friend Pastor Myke. I don't think I would have recognized him.
