Jack Lemmon is the greatest actor ever. He was literally dying when he made this film, yet gave perhaps his greatest acting performance. The absolute master of dramatic/comedic acting.

jeremiah orr I didn’t realize Jack Lemmon was sick himself filming this. He did look sick. For a legendary actor of major motion pictures this last performance as Morrie may have been his best role ever.

Steven Koren, he died a couple years after this came out, but it was a long battle with cancer that did it. He was newly diagnosed, but I believe already terminal when he was doing this movie. Sort of ironic, huh?

1:26:20 I am watching it now, at 10:45 am, on January 22, 2018, after reading the book before the holidays. and I`m crying with my laptop in front of me, and my mother tells me: "The Book never made you cry, and nobody could make you cry, yet a movie on TH-cam made you cry... wow."
It`s true, I have to admit...
I have bipolar depression, ADHD, ODD, and they told me I have Mild Autism.
Nothing in the world could make me cry...
Then I watched the film for Tuesday`s with Morrie, after reading the book, and I cried.
I`m fifteen years old, and I cried in front of my step mom.
She didn`t hug me, she let me cry.
She told me: "You`re a baby... what`s wrong with you? You were fine a second ago."
She saw the movie I was watching, and she told me to shut it off if it made me upset.
When she left the room, I kept watching it.
It ended, and I let all the stress on my shoulders fade away.
I cried more than I ever have, due to friends lost and Mentors who changed my life,
Or even family walking out on me.
that's my story, and this is my lesson to you...
Even though you could have everything wrong with you,
Even though you`re the most stressed out person sometimes,
Even though they called you things,
and even when people tell you "You`re a teenager, grow up..."
It`s okay to cry over moments like those I saw in Tuesdays With Morrie.
God Bless whoever posted this video.
And God Bless Morrie and Mitch,
Although they are not yet together in heaven,
They are still connected in Mitch`s heart
And to all teens out there,
Always cry when you`re hurt, even if there is nobody to hug you.

You are most definitely right! It is ok to cry, as it's hard to get over things if you don't. Also, it shows you are human and I'm sorry your stepmom couldn't understand why you were crying. I watched this movie as a senior in high school and it gave me a great perspective on life and how we need to live. Don't hold grudges and always forgive as that's what we need to move on. It also taught me to never miss out on that key moment just because of fear or rejection. Go for it because you never know when you'll get that chance again. Live life to the fullest and keep your chin up Cartez Sister. Don't be afraid to cry and thank you for your lesson to us. Good luck.

We were actually required to read this book in our school because it's an assignment in English Class. I have the book version of Tuesdays with Morrie but as a lazy person, I decided to search if there was a movie about it and ended up here.
Usually, I'm not really a big fan of movies and novels, but this masterpiece is just very different. Every time I see Morrie struggling, I end up with tears in mine. I have learned the value of forgiveness and the fact that Mitch and Morrie did not see each other for 16 years because Mitch is a really busy person makes it just so heartbreaking because 16 years is a really long time and he only saw Morrie when he was already dying.
I will never forget these quotes that Morrie said:
"Death ends a life, not a relationship"
"We should love one another or die"
Kudos to the actors. It made the movie feel like it was not scripted and it all came from the heart. Also, RIP Morrie Schwartz, these quotes of yours will never be forgotten.

My son died from ALS in 2019, this cruel disease is beyond the meaning of cruel as it progresses , but it gave us a few years of spending more time together than we had in 20 yrs because he had to quit work and need constant care so we spent a lot of time together and got to share many thoughts and leave nothing to regrets. This movie is so much more personal to me now and Jack is incredible in it.

He’s gone now, but I was blessed to see him after I was grown and speak to him shortly before he died. I will always love him and remember the lessons that had nothing to do with the subject he taught.

I literally cried so much my eyes hurt when I read the book. Now the words are put in motion, I don't know how my eyes and heart would react. But my tissues are ready.
Edit: Done watching the film. I still cried a lot, but not as much as I cried while reading the book. I also noticed some parts in the movie that didn't match the ones in the book, but maybe it's just me lol. One thing I was expecting, and was surprised not to see, though, was the scene where Morrie told Mitch (non-verbatim) "If I ever had a third son, I want it to be you."
All in all, it was a good film, still. It's a masterpiece. The book changed my life forever, and I recommend you don't skip reading it. Thank you so much for bringing it to life! Sir Morrie Schwartz will never be forgotten.

I read the book when I was 14. It had a great impact on me back then. I had to stop reading a lot of times to cry. 13 years later, I watched the movie and cried again! I realised how I was trying to be “strong” while growing up and appeared to be insensitive sometimes because I didn’t want to look weak.

How true this story is… we all have a Morrie in our lives! We need that! A special person. My Jackie was that to me! Father / grandfather I needed in my life … I live in Canada and jack is in the USA … I made a regular trip to see him! Covid interfered but FaceTime and phone took over … this is a move that’s top 10 in my heart!!! 2 great actors Hank Azaria and Jack Lemmon. Lovely true life story!

There are so many people in this comment section who tell their own beautiful and moving story and why they find this movie so great.
And here I am, looking for a film where Hank Azaria plays a nice character because I've been having nightmares for 9 years now thanks to his performance as Kahmunrah in Night at the Museum 2.
EDIT: This is a masterpiece... And this makes me think of my dad who passed away last year, at age 77. He lost his battle against lug cancer and I'm happy I know this movie now. It makes me realize he didn't receive love as a child, and somehow, in his cold way, he gave me love anyway. I think our strength comes from the love we get...

i sobbed multiple times i mean the movie makes the answers to life seem simple while embracing and accepting our own fears that make loving hard. morrie teaches so many crucial lessons on how to live life, forgive and move on, take that chance and listen to your heart, etc we all need that teacher who doesn't give up even if we don't understand, and i loved how we got to see morrie talk about a darker side, about his dad and how he should've seen into his heart and that "hunger leaves no choice for the citizen and police." i physically felt his pangs of guilt, but i think it makes it more realistic. endless thanks to all the people that made this movie possible!!

My friend suggested that I should read the book but unfortunately the pdf didn't work so I came here and watched the move . It's actually great even though I'm exhausted the story kept me and I couldn't stop watching. The thing that talked to me the most is when morrie said death doesn't end relationship even though we're set apart with our loved one's they're memory their lesson their smile remains in our heart and mind and the fact we keep it to the end of the world is marvelous. And the funny thing is I'm planning to read the book too.
