Okay so as someone who's played all 3 games I can say that it's mainly the stories that are similar in splatoon 1 to 2 and I'm a splatoon 1 glazer. Splatoon 2 utilizes more of the octarian gimmicks such as invisible floors that were 1 offs in most splatoon 1 levels. Also splatoon 2 story had more replay ability due to the player being able to use each weapon class unlike with splatoon 1 which if you didn't have amiibo you could only use a shooter and even with amiibos you could only use a charger or a roller in certain levels. Also the octoling mission from 1 and 2 are different. Splatoon 1 has you run from 1 side of the map to the other to grab 1 zapfish, while 2 has you looking for 8 mini zapfish across the map. The bosses are all different especially when you have to fight them with different weapons unlike in splatoon 1 where the strategy was shoot forward and win. Splatoon 1 didn't have base armor so if you got shot you just died and of cource the octavio fight.

That is true but most of them gameplay in each game aside from Side Order is very similar but I see what you mean.
