      @@kingjames2226 the best way to explain Portuguese demonstratives is to imagine yourself in the shop asking a shop assistant for information about chosen products. From your perspective, every product, which is close to you is this and these (este, esta, estes, estas), everything which is close to shop assistant for you it will be that and those (esse, essa, esses, essas) and everything which will be far from you both it will be aquele, aquela, aqueles and aquelas - English translation is still that, those, but it applies to things which are with a great distance for you and your speaking partner. So nessa época (em+essa=nessa) means at that time/moment, century/period; naquela época (em+aquela=naquela) means at that time/moment/century/period (but naquela época/tempo/altura is a time, which is really long ago for you or people in general). I was trying to explain it as simple as possibe. I hope it makes sense for you. Cumprimentos
