Nice find. Hyalite does NOT like coming big enough and clean enough for many statement stones. Let alone the glowing in the daylight grade! Good and matching cut on it.
Predator.Beatz - the glow comes from a long wave or short wave uv light source. Not only that but this particular source will glow in daylight from the uv from sunlight. That being said, I do not believe that these have much (if any) phosphorescence.
Ok that would be useful for a gurren lagann drill core necklace because it glows in the anime and if you cut that in a drill shape and attach it to the holder with a string it would work for cosplay

Hi Steve. I was reading that alpha particles of radiation can damage the eye's cornea. I hope there are safety measures available to protect your eyes when inspecting the rough, and during faceting, etc. How does the radiation from Hyalite Opal compare with the residuals emitted from other irradiated gems such as Morganite, some Tourmalines, Topazes, Pearls, Quartzes, colored Diamonds, and certain Zircons and some Sapphires? (Gee, I think those are pretty much some of the most popular gemstones!?!)
Sorry I am not an expert in this area and can’t answer with any authority. I have not read anything to make me feel these gems will put us at risk. It is good to know whether London blue topaz has been stored for 6 months before release to the market as it had residual radiation from atomic pile irradiation. I will look into alpha particles and the retina.

Cutting is a concern. Radiation emission is very low so wearing is of little concern. We put a gold plate between it and the skin when we have made jewelry. Mostly alpha and beta low penetrating radiation.

These are daylight fluorescent meaning U. V. light outside is enough to make the glow. Some are green from indoor home lighting which has low amounts of U. V. And of coarse the u. V. Flashlight make them go crazy green.
@@Moregems So this will glow green in daylight but will it still look green under incandescent light? I see some rough listed on eBay that are shades of beige/brown except in UV light. My concern is about this will look if set in a piece of jewelry, or is it not used for that purpose?
