Blanks were for an m1 Garand in the stripper clip. The bigger ones that had black tips were 30-06 or 8mm Mauser ammo that was armor piercing.

Depends on the year they were made. WW2 & Korean conflict most likely but some time in the late 50s (‘58 I believe) they weren’t. I’ve shot a bunch of the old LC stuff through my M1 without any problems.

  • @thewolfhunter

The live rounds that you found inn the box with the black tips are 30-06 armor piercing rounds. If you look on the back of the case it will tell you when they were manufactured and where they were made..If you see LC it stands for Lake City which is a small arms ammunition manufacturer for the government.then you should see two numbers which stands for year IE: 52 means 1952..
Most likely for a M1 Garand.
The clip(not magazine)you found loaded with red tips blanks is for a M1 Garand...
The .38spl. ammo you found on the floor that you thought were blanks are actual .38spl Waddcutters which are used for target shooting.when they his a paper target they leave a perfect circle in the target.

Those first rounds in the video you thought were blanks. Not the rifle rounds with the red caps but the 38 or 357s look like wad cutters, i couldnt tell but its one of the two calibers. Wadcutters have a (bullet) seated flush to the top of the case an are a pretty nasty round that you don't see much anymore. I wanted to let you know if you give them to someone. Someone would be very unpleasantly surprised if they shot one off thinking it was a blank. Lol. Good vid

I'm a reloader and shooter and some of these comments are cracking me up. BTW, by far the most valuable thing in that house was an original M1 Garand blank firing adapter. You can get a reproduction for dirt cheap but originals are big bucks. As for any of the .30-06 ammo being really valuable well I guess that's all subjective, AP goes for $2 a piece on gunbroker reloaders can hit it for half of that the regular ball ammo goes for .75 cents a round but a reloader can do it way cheaper. In the world of larger caliber centerfire ammo that's not too bad. 😎

empty brass is worth sometimes ten cents each,,,,,and lots of what they thought was blanks was wadd cutters,,,,lots of AP there at about a dollar each,,,,id have skimmed through it all and taken every little bit and looked for the loading press, dies, primers, powder and components

It looked like the loaded bullets with the black tips were maybe 308 armour piercing and the shells with red paint inside again looked like 30-06 blanks or grenade launcher rounds because that was a Garande clip.

Someone owns it. City or county for unpaid taxes, bank for unpaid mortgage or owners heirs just havent been there to fix up. In any case, it doesnt sound like he has gotten permission to be there. If he removes anything he really puts himself in jeopardy especially after video proof of him on youtube.

@@bill45colt Yes. sory. explosive ammunition from the mausera was painted in black and green or black and red. The whole black projectile was incendiary ammunition in Europe anyway. And what is in the movie has the black end of the bullet. An interesting find. You would have to shoot to see what it is for sure. Greetings.

Here's a though look at medicine it usually only has a 2 years expiration date. For example if the date says 2000, it was probably bough in 1998.
