I feel for you ,I`m happy to pay the price when I find something I want at a garage sale. But when I try to have one people come buy only wanting to pay 10-20 % of my asking price. What makes me mad is that a lot of those people are buying to resell on line, I don`t have a garage sale to make these kind of people more money. The last few I had what didn`t sell went to a dumpster. It was much more satisfying than letting a reseller make extra profit.
Silas , You should stop reading these comments all together. You are doing the right thing with your yard and your channel. There are to many negative people out there and you should not waste your energy on them. They will start to suck your inner self dry. Keep up the positive vibes you give!!

Humorous. I remember when those square bodies were first made and was walking down the sidewalk one day and thinking, "WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MODERN!!!!!!!!!!! " LOL!!!!
That was a very fair price you was asking for those parts. And your time is worth something. I don’t think people realize how much it cost to run a business. Exspecialy the business you are in. Another great video. Thanks for taking the time to share with all of us. I hope you and your family have a wonderful vacation. Just love your videos keep them coming.

You go, Silas! You tell 'em! People can be such thieves with regard to other peoples' stuff. People just understand how little time you have to get so much of that stuff done and it takes your labor to remove parts. If someone wants a steal, they should buy a whole car themselves and part it out and see what you go through! I liked the ending with music playing while the video of the cars being loaded was being shown. Hope you have a safe time away and thank you for being YOU!
It would be different if you were running a pick-a-part in addition to your crushing operation, but in your neck of the wood, this doesn’t pencil out. PS - you have a great attitude and a great TH-cam channel.
I love it when you can look through the vehicles. I truly understand that you just don't have time to do that with each vehicle but it sure makes you wonder what gets missed. Don't worry about the naysayers, they don't walk a mile in your busy shoes. I so wish I was as smart as the armchair experts! 😄 Glad you and your family got to get some time away. Hope all went well and you had a safe, great time. Love the videos. Stay safe and GOD bless

No, You are awesome. The people in your town are not cheap , They are thrifty . I like your channel because , some might say your job is boring or whatever , You make it exciting , you get to work with/for your dad , you do value your time as you should. Plus you share it on youtube.
$5 for an alternator and bracket? Just for the heck of it, I looked it up on the LKQ Pick A Part price list. An alternator is $28.34, with a $10 core charge. The customer wanted to pay less than a reasonable core charge for one. They didn't have a price listed for a bracket, so guessing from some other parts, I'd say about $8 for one. This is a self-service place. The customer pays $3 for an entry fee, then gets to hoof it up and down the rows to find what is wanted. The customer gets out the tools, and pulls the part. I hope that you had a great time in Costa Rica.
You ever think about doing a video with your dad or does he not want to be on camera? I love when you reminisce about growing up in this business. Would like to hear it from your father’s side also.

You should get one of those 5 gallon glass, water jugs to put all the change you find, into. Once you get a lot of change, get it counted, and use it to take your kids on a vacation, even for two or three days, would make them feel great. My husband and I did it, and took our 4 kids to universal studios in Florida! We got a 3-day pass that was good for a lifetime. We went twice one year and a couple years later, went again. They absolutely loved it!!!
Thank you for the time and the effort you put in these videos. I learn some things and it's all relatively interesting to me. I resell but not as broad as what you've done. Looking to expand in the near future, I just finally blew the motor up in one of my cars and was surprised to see what parts are selling for. Mind you,it's just one car and it's not killing my time or business parting it out. I definitely understand why you don't get into that too often. You take care buddy
I really enjoyed your searching the cars for treasures and money. It seems that there was some profit to be found after all. I thought that you were the owner of the big salvage yard and operation that you worked at. But I can say that your dad has a pretty good employee working for him and helping to keep things running smoothly.
Wallet w/money but nothing else. I had one when I was about 8 yrs old. Wallet was a gift at Christmas and I put the few dollars in it. It's a kids wallet.😎
I enjoyed this video because of the loading of the cars and the tours of some of the junk cars. I also happen to like the music you choose. Great video
I have customers get pissy with me over a diagnostic fee I charge them. Now if I just listen to the car and tell you what's wrong. That will be a freebie. But if I have to pull out any tools, and my $5000.00 scanner. Now I have to get paid. Sure you can go to a parts store, and they will scan your car for free. But they also want to sell you parts that might not fix the problem. Now paying me to scan the car. Well.... I'll tell you what the codes say, what they mean, and how they may co-mingle with each other to pin point a problem that has nothing to do with any of those codes. Something that the parts store can't do. Good work is never cheap, and cheap work is never good. Time is money, and my time is very valuable. Glad to see that you think the same way.

No Silas! You are awesome. I remember back when Canada had pennies. As everyone knows, Canada eliminated the penny right around the time we legalized pot, not sure if the two are related. You never hear a Canadian say "penny for your thoughts" because who even has one? No penny, but we have a $200 coin, which will cost you $2000 to buy. Stuff used to make sense.
