Chalk Streams are a favorite of mine this is how I fish them. I've been given some picture of 30lb Pike from this river in the past (a very rare fish)
One of my favourite rigs for Pike fishing is the live bait paternoster I show how to fish it and soon there will be another video on how to tie them.

Great video. A '30lb River Pike' is indeed the ultimate target. I think in the last 10 years for sure, that 30lb club has not had too many entries as its getting harder and harder on the rivers and drains. My River PB is just shy of 27lb so the hunt for the 30 is on going. Tight lines sir

I had the pleasure of weighing my fishing buddies 28lb14oz from the same River and we stared getting numerous 20s over a 5 year period and felt the 30 would come, but then it all went the wrong way sadly. I have even resorted to fishing stillwaters this season on waters that have known heads of Pike.

Thank you for putting this up. It's been a wait, but worth it. I like your take on the paternoster rig which I understand allows the bait fish more "freedom" than with a fixed "T" swivel set up. What size bait do you find most effective with this rig? Would I be correct in thinking the bait would be hooked in the tail root?

Sorry about the wait😂 on rivers I nick them in the noise on a bigger bait noise and dorsal. Still waters dorsal and pec👍 bigger baits will catch you bigger fish😉
