Do you not run a bead of silicone down the wall behind the aluminium bracket?

    0. Make sure the shower tray is truly levelled. 1. perhaps before when you mark the drill holes and when you drill holes, put a little masking tape - that way the diamond bit will not slip when you are drilling in and damage the tiles. 2. Best practice to get second person to hold hoover so that you can hold the drilling machine in case it slips off your hand and damages customer's tiles or worse you drop off on the shower tray and cause more damage. (I am glad you mention this in the video), really good tips on bottom silicon sealing. Good tip again on putting down floor protective to not damage anything. May be best to buy shower tray of this type which comes with pre-built hole for fitting the end of the glass unit than you drilling the whole which voids the warranty of the tray. Good video overall not bad at all.

Hi, great video! Quick question..... When you screw the wall profile to the wall do you find that the bottom of the profile which meets the silicone can stick out a little which means that it's not completely flush to the wall? If that's the case how do you rectify that?

Hi I have a 12mm glass screens which are 15 years old. Originally they were set on top of some plastic seals that prevent water escaping under the glass.
IS THAT NO LONGER THE CASE?
I’ve removed panels and repealed tray etc, should I LEAVE OUT THE PLASTIC SEALS AND SET GLASS DIRECTLY TO THE TRAY?
    Is this the new standard?

Great job. Would it have been possible to turn the channel upside down so the pilot holes would be on the exterior of the shower for fixing and putting screw covers on, therefore leaving the wet side of the channel free of any extra holes/obstacles to aid in waterproofing and cleaning?? Just a thought.

You can Robert but that was an Eastbrook screen and if there had been any problems it would have invalidated the warranty. The instructions specify the screws being on the inside and only one silicone bead on the outside of the screen. I know what you mean though

I was told to put masking tape onto the tiles first, then pencil onto the tape, to stop the drill bit potentially sliding off the pencil mark, that worked well for me when I drilled for the shower head holder. Maybe professionals don't need that extra, but it's good for diy'ers like me?

What do you with the bottom edge of the screen? I'm looking to install a screen in a very similar manner soon, mine will have an over head t bar. But there is no mention of what do on the bottom edge in contact with the shower tray.

    • @jesshothersall
      @jesshothersall ปีที่แล้ว

I wondered that too. The screen we've bought has a rubber seal along the bottom edge of ours, he didn't mention it, but without using a rubber seal or silicone sealant surely the water will seep through? How can it not? I'd have thought silicone here would be more important than in the rawlplugs, as the water is pointing away from them, and will definitely be splashing down at the bottom

A few tips from another professional.
Get a 6mm round diamond bit for the tile drilling, much better than the spear tip ones.
As well as the silicone into the screw holes, run a bead along the extrusion where it meets the wall.
Instead of drilling the shower base, use Polyurethane or a flexible polymer adhesive like Tek7.
If the shower tray has an upturn behind the tiles, don't silicone between the base and bottom of tiles. The water that seeps through the grout and behind the tiles can't run into the tray otherwise.

This may be a bit of a stretch but i live in a rental and I am trying to create a temporary shower screen for my tub that uses two shower curtains. One goes across the length the other across the width. (L-shaped) Is there any material that can be used temporarily instead of glass and that I could attach and remove when I move out? (my idea was treated wood strips for wall and tub surround with plexiglass or sailboat window material)?

    • @NoraDesmond897

Not really Denise but there is nothing wrong with leaving a shower curtain on a rail in place for when the next person moves in. One neat curtain hanging from a rail running the length of the bath will do the job.
