Assalam alaykum dear sister, Alhamdulillah for your video on this subject. I was a current student of his for a year and a half, and was completely stunned when the institute sent out an email to all students explaining his absence without much detail. However, in our Telegram group for students to discuss school related issues and reciting circles, students began to give details they saw on social media. We received basic info from the institute later and had several adhoc zoom meetings to address how to cope with this unexpected news. I decided to change to a female Tajweed/Quran teacher and am very happy with my choice. I met him in person when he came to my city/country for a seminar that he was lecturing in. As a new Muslim, I gave more trust to any Muslim person thinking we all fear Allah as we aught to, and they can be trusted…what a lesson I have experienced first hand. Alhamdulillah for this video, I have learned so much from you and your advice is spot on, helping me to learn what a healthy relationship is and what it is not. Jazakallah Khairan and May Allah bless you with health and to make your videos seen by those who need to see them, Ameen 💓

Thank you for your comment, I'm glad my work is helping you alhamdulilah. Unfortunately innocent reverts are a prime target for Muslim narcissists who take advantage of their lack of knowledge and naivety when it comes to the pious presentation of some people. I pray a lot more reverts wake up to this and understand that there are lots of corrupt Muslims out there they need to avoid being around and learning from.

May Allah keep you steadfast in becoming our shining beacon and loudspeaker in calling out of the epidemic of narcissistic evils in our ummah, destroying our Deen like cancer with trails of victims through generations, Allaahul musta'an.
SubhaanAllaah this speaks to my soul louder, clearer and in much better understanding in my own situation, jazaakiLlaahu kheyr Dr Mona ❤ I'm a born Muslim and was married for over 22 years to a beautiful and a very humble Muslim revert until he returned to Allah, Allahu yarhamu. I found my beautiful Deen again when I was with him, learnt from my late husband's pure love of Islam and the brethren, that it is not just rituals and dogmas, but a whole and only way of life. He taught me to never judge other Muslims and was really saddened by the divisiness and sectarianism in the ummah.
In Allah's Wisdom and Mercy for me, still in my grieving, He Azza wa Jall put in my path a born Muslim Egyptian man. This man who I taught could be my teacher and companion in strengthening the Deen was the epitome of religious and covert narcissist. The amount of ghiba, judgement and hatred towards other Muslims and the criticism behind the other brothers/sisters' back from his mouth were so painful to listen to. When I tried to express my discomfort and my own opinion, I was accused of being naive and was too sheltered in my life not to be exposed to 'evils' or shayatheen as he called them. Looking back, i understand now, evil attracts evil, subhaanAllaah.
The trauma and PTSD that I'm still battling from my short interactions with him is nothing compared to the fact that I almost lost my love of Islam and ummah due to everyday being cursed and threatened with jahannam if I was to say anything of his controlling behaviours, was told that my shalah, reading Qur'an and fasting were for nothing if he's not pleased with me.
The beautiful Islam became the ugly and rigid Islam. The unforgiving and nil empathy attitude towards others, the hatred towards women, 'the feminists', and scholars who defended women were mind boggling, Allaahul musta'an.
AlhamduliLlaah I'm now free from his clutch. I'm one of his survivors, as he always says that he's the victim of his string of exes, and he moved on quickly and revert women are his target.

Alhamdulilah, thank you so much, I'm so happy you find the podcasts helpful. Reverts in particular really need to be aware of this serious problem. My PhD was about this and how the horrid behaviour of so many narc Muslims (primarily staunch narc salafis - men and women) drove reverts out of Islam.
Thank you for your dua, may Allah bless you :)

Someone said it!!! I have been frustrated and have questioned all that for years that is being mentioned. When 100s of comments are praising such people, I am on the other end of the screen, thinking that the masses at once lost their God-given gift-mind and critical thinking capabilities. Even a child with a basic understanding can see all the facades better than the followers of such people and the ones drolling over. It's mind numbingly disgusting .

Unfortunately, many people don't read, seek knowledge or use their own brains, because of laziness and end up asking those who aren't qualified to answer or give incorrect information. People ask others a lot about things they can easily read about themselves. There are plenty of books available in Amazon and Islamic book stores that are easy to read and authored by authentic scholars about fiqh and other matters.

Assalamualaikum sister!!! Yes I see this all the time. In my country Islamic teachings have been absolutely distorted... Islamic schools claiming to be islamic no longer teach quran and sunnah. Everything from islamic terrorism and false scholars have traumatized me to the point where reading Quran and hadith drives me insane.
Praying 5 times a day is now only done just as a formality / purely so people could brag about it... meanwhile they spread misinformation about Allah and His Prophet (S.A.W.), and so much bid'ah, shirk and completely made up teachings were created.
    For example...
    - scholars ask their students to do weird things, like walk in weird ways, they're taught not to question anything,
    - they often sell water that has been prayed upon or recited salawat upon, they sell miswak they have used themselves,
    - sell misbah beads for hundreds of dollars
    - people who claim to be descendants of the Prophet (S.A.W) but aren't...
    - make studying science haram... claim that studying mathematics and physics and biology is haram because it's "worldly knowledge" (how do you build a mosque without studying architecture?),
    - debate whether or not this madhab reduces one's faith
    - and Islamic schools that actually study arabic-language books, but never the quran and hadith.
    - when they do use quran and hadith, they use the wrong interpretation of verses, and the hadith is weak or even fabricated...
    - waste food during ramadhan, and slaughter goats/cows/whatever during eid in inhumane ways
And other things that even as a kid drove me insane... And now I know why... Alhamdulillah I found real islamic knowledge from knowledgeable scholars who have done their work. Jazakallah khair sister... Thanks again for saying what needs to be said. May Allah (S.W.T.) bless you in dunya and akhirah!!!

Thank you for your comment brother, unfortunately, as I mentioned, many of the so-called scholars, were college rejects who weren's even religious, so they took the opportunity to project their outlook of Islam onto everyone else. They were raised to believe Allah is tyrannical, difficult, unjust and unloving, so they taught that to their families, schools and communities. It's corrupt knowledge and mindsets that get passed down into generations, because they never found a love for Allah, but they found a way to control and take advantage of people using fear.
You will know who they are because they never speak with any wisdom, they just shout, spew venom and just enjoy making life hard and judge people to make them feel less as Muslims, when they don't look, act or speak like them. They are the Khawarij for sure.

Why once again Mufti Menk Saheb stands out. In one of his recent sermons, he went onto say how everyone should do their own learning and checking even on himself. One of the benefits of an Empathic Scholar of which are very few. I have found it is better to stick to a few you know. About 2 or 3 maximum and what I have always tried to do.
It is also important as I noticed recently how some can pick and choose out of different jurisprudence when we are supposed to follow 1 of the 4. By way of example, I believe in Saudi Arabia it is predominantly Hanbali School of Religious Law so then for all matters they should follow that rather pick some of the matters to suit out from say the Hanafi School of Religious Law which I follow.
An example of Islamic Dawah from my own Mosque. Where they rather use the Mosque to harm and loitering around and not let others perform acts of worship when in the first instance they would turn up at our homes to do Islamic Dawah.
The best was one claiming he does the work of Allah(SWT) then using the prayer hall of the House of Allah(SWT) on trying to get me to go against Allah(SWT) on my long-term arthritis condition. He said to not take my weekly injections because they do experiments on us. When my religion teaches me to take the medication and then pray to Allah(SWT) for cure. And doing both is the tawakkul in Allah(SWT).
Stay Safe out there. Vultures can only increase due to the world becoming more Narcissistic. If we fall in the wrong hands then we can ruin our good deeds and goal to get to Paradise. Lots of Mosque Drop Outs and Youth Dossers even in my town have started taken over the running of our Mosques. Subsequently, to undertake lots of Devil and Criminal Acts in the House of Allah(SWT) to facilitate their own ego having been intimidated by us who chose not to be Mosque Drop Outs and Youth Dossers.

Mufti Menk is one of the very few empathic scholars out there. Many staunch Salafis don't consider him to be a scholar, but he is, as he studied all 5 points in the list provided. We will have scholars in every generation who come with new knowledge, because times and societies are changing, but they're rejected, because they aren't Sheikh Al Uthaymeen etc and they are kinder and more loving in their dawah. Narcs hate this, because they want everyone to suffer under the rule of their own kind.
The only reason why scholars said to pick 1 madhab is for cultural reasons, otherwise their fiqh is all correct. Fiqh can change and this is something narc Salafis reject, which is why they apply blanket rules to all and make people's lives hard.
I am seeing more and more narcs take over mosques and they have become business hubs run by people who are obsessed with having power and status.

@@themuslimnarcissistbook JazakAllah Khair for your detailed input. I just love Mufi Menk Saheb having followed him for years. He is always smiling, displays his sense of humour, makes and effort to connect to every generation, can be terse when required, and explains in such an easy way which makes it easier for all to digest and implement the learning. He called out some scholars in my own town indirectly i.e. Nepotism in our Mosques. One of our Scholars rather referred to him living in another country which was a crass comment.
I know in my own town when we had smaller Mosques as old buildings the worship and people was on a greater level. They were to be replaced with big new Mosques but the worship and people went significantly downhill.
We had a situation not long ago. A revert took the Shahadah which was so lovely. But then the Mosque Committee took a photo on the event without his permission and went running to the local newspaper. The newspaper paid the Mosque £25 and printed the story. It was saddening on how the revert had not told his own family and neighbourhood and a lot of harm came his way. He had to complain to the regulatory body i.e. IOPC and the newspaper defended their actions saying it was the Mosque that supplied them with the details and how they paid the £25 fee. So in this example, even the Mosque had earned haram £25 which could have been spent on the Mosque.

@@themuslimnarcissistbook I know, so sad. No one else besides me would speak out.
On the flip side, there was another revert who was doing his learning through us during the month of Ramadhan. He inadvertently walked into the Mosque and specifically into the ablution area with his shoes. A few of them got together and kicked him out of the Mosque when our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) allowed far bigger. It was only me again that spoke out. Suffice to say, the revert never returned.
Obviously, the same Mosque Committee did not go running to the same local newspaper with that story.
At the same time, one of the Members was jumping up and down in the prayer hall and siding with what the wrong doers did. He was supposed to side with the revert. Suffice to say, the member could not return to the Mosque in the same way again and lost his ability to talk. Folk don't want to understand how angels can curse in prayer areas of Mosques if we are doing the work of the devil.

Even the so-called religious in-laws relatives have just ripped off our inheritance in the guise of Islam. And whoever condemn them are condemned to hell, as if Allah is their weapon.
