I wish the traffic and roads in Hertfordshire area made more than 50bhp viable. Slow motorists, speed limits and heavy traffic means whatever you drive its limited by the cars in front. Quieter parts of the UK would definitely make a fun car fun. In my area its just frustrating. People add pop bang maps to sound fast in the 5mph drag to work.
You talking about the civic gearbox jumping out of third took me right back to 1974 and my first car, 1500GT Mk1 Cortina, which did exactly that but, at that time, quick and sooooo much fun, get the same grins now from my 2014 Fiesta ST3 Mountune. Great video as always, thank you😊
Not sure how you get to fun for under £5000 without mentioning the Mazda MX-5! I know rust can also be an issue, but I reckon for fun the car (which may even have below 150bhp ) could blow those out of the park!
I work with someone who had an audi a5 2 l tfsi. It was from 2009 i think and was near 100k miles. It started to use lots of oil so he looked into it and was told the engine was knackered. He found out that from i think was 2008 to 2011 the 2.0 l tfsi engine wearing itself out is very common.
Such a great channel I’m new to UK and still learning how to buy a used car and this channel is amazing! Can you please recommend any good choices if the budget is £10k , automatic, petrol?
Feel free to laugh away, but. 1 series Msport. 125d. Cheap to tax, 40mpg, 215bhp and good looks,(Subjective ) and provided you change the oil and filter on a regular basis it’ll run forever and don’t believe all the b*****ks about the timing chains breaking, I’ve ran mine for over 107k miles. Still pulls like a train. PS. Also run it on Shell V Power every other fill up and no DPF issues either.
Issue with the 1 series is insurance it costs so much more than another hot/warm hatch. I can insure fn2 type R or astra VXR cheaper than my 2010 118d. Also to note mine on 184k and still going , there not all bad But yes I'd agree as long it's a looked after example with good history
Terrible idea, I have owned two of those engines and both basically shat itself, consider yourself lucky and basically just never buy a BMW if you aren’t prepared to pay a ton for maintenance
its not all about power, i light weight car good tyres and brakes on wet back road you can play with performance cars they hate it when you see then try get ground but cannot. my old 1.2 78bhp but only 1.1 ton with tank fuel, had bmw m3 boy racer try push me through a town i knew road out the town for few miles every corner gained a tad the frustration must got better o him and pushed to hard he lost back end i slowed but never caught up but he did save it, a wet twisty mountain road and tyres were spot on for very wet roads and lightness. car was so basic it had steel wheels that one thought i have play. many ive not had issue staying with after they did dodgy pass. now i got newer version that car top spec but only 5bhp more but 100kg more so less nippy at gaining speed but bigger and wider wheels and tyres and slightly wider the car a lot more stable at higher speeds. the fun with that bmw at the time abs censor gone so no esp no abs and no tc it was very playful car for low powered city car. im no boy racer but every now again if i get annoyed i keep with then and every now again , not often out pace them, i like underdog cars and lightness helps a lot and keeping with something 3x power or engine but twice the weight its fun ive surprised a few . its rare i do go mad but most time im always catching up slower traffic even if im in less power car ive never needed more power to have fun and tax £35 for now so cheap and fast cruise 40mpg plus. i like lightweight small cars they just fun to drive as most 95% plus my driving on twisty back roads and 150bhp you be only using 1/3 that , lower power up and down gears using more of the gear they not going any faster unless above speed limit
Wouldn't bother with the 2.0 e89 model Z4 as the timing chain guides are horrible and blow up the engines quite commonly. The e85 3.0 model is far better value and drives better

Civic or Focus. Owned both, top cars. I would have either again

Saab 9-3 Aero, 2.0T with a stage 1 remap to 250bhp (300bhp with mild mods) Nice looking, reliable if maintained correctly, quick, and DIFFERENT.
Love a Saab! 50-70 acceleration like nothing else! Jet fighter for the road
Suzuki Swift Sport zc31/32 has to be in this list. Mk6 Firsta ST also. All fun reliable cheap cars.
Great videos mate, very informative, would you recommend the GTI MK5? I was planning on getting one but been reading horror stories online about them
Such a great channel

Great knowledge and hugely valuable videos - Thanks!
I own 1.5 litre petrol 2019 Octavia. (150hp it seems) manual 6 forward speed gear box.

Disel 😂😂
Have you just compared an oil burner to a hot hatch (or mild hatch in today's standards?!)

Could even have said a 123d if it weren't for the poorer reliability.

Outstanding content. Authoritative, accurate, knowledgable - to another level. Subscribed, so impressed. Time to trawl content...
That fn2 ya showed was a great price especially if it has a lsd
@@danielhasahondaandtriumph agreed! So many aren’t aware the late ones had an lsd
Problem is that they didn't boost the power when adding more weight to the FN2. Reliable but not rapid
How do we feel about mk2 suzuki swift sport? I know its low hp but everyone raves about them?

Had a 55 plate st3. Loved it. Cried when I had to sell it
Alfa Romeo Mito/Gulietta
We need a video about best old cars under 3000 pounds, please.
Not a hatchback but there are some 2010 Bmw Z4s out there for £5000 and under

Swift SPORT
The sound was dodgy on this one.
I'll have the S3 👍
Mazda 3 mps
That wasn’t a biased opinion at all 🤷♂️ can’t believe you stuck a French car in front of a mk5 golf gti 🤦🏼♂️😂😂😂
