I know the video is 5 years old but saw you responded to someone around 5 months ago. I have a stock (besides exhaust) 2017 Golf 1.8t. And was wondering if there was any drone with the GTI Exhaust with the resonator deleted. I have a stock down pipe and not planning on changing it. Current setup is a 2.25” 10” Resonator and no muffler with single exit. But wanted a dual exit with bigger pipe. Not planning on tuning the car.
No worries at all, I do respond to most of my inquiries. By the way if you haven’t seen the rest of my videos with some sound testing and POV with the different exhaust set up. Sound is very different for all as to how we perceive it. From my experience based on the different combinations/transformations I have done with the exhaust system, I didn’t really noticed any drone at all. If you are able to see the rest of the vids, I even went full straight pipe on an aftermarket CBE and didn’t suffer from any drone. Again this varies from person to person based on their sound tolerance.

I wanna go dual tip so I may do full 2.5” straight pipe after the downpipe where it has the clamps. And then custom tips. I appreciate your response! I used to have a 2.0t FWD Audi and had both resonators and the muffler removed and it was perfect and those burble so much stock with the restriction gone and barely any drone. I get a tiny with my current 2017 Golf 1.8t but only during a super cold start and when I’m flooring it. I just have a small 2.25” 10” long resonator and no muffler. But want some burbles if possible and a little louder. But stock DP for sure. And maybe a short ram intake. Thanks Man!

Thank you 🙏 regarding your question, your rear diffuser is the same as any of the MK7 golf trims. You should be able to fit a GTI diffuser straight swap. Don’t bother with the R diffuser in my opinion. It will not fit your car. Hope this will help.

@@JamzOs it is ultimately up to you. I am not one who wants to do a permanent change on my original parts given I tent to collect my cars for life and I want my OEM parts intact just in case. I mod my cars in such a way that what ever I do it is reversible.

Hi you can get these diffuser if you don’t want to change your exhaust store.concept1.ca/Golf-7-Rear-Diffuser-GTI-style-EMO-7011-66264/ As for your other questions, the GTI and the R bumper as a whole should fit fine with the base golf. Just remember the GTI bumper and what you have now are technically the same and it is only the diffuser is the variance. Also note that your base golf type defuser will not fit on the R bumper.

I'm looking to do the same conversion on my MK7 TSI, but I'm having problems finding the correct diffuser.. Would you happen to know the exact part number that you ordered?
Sorry I don’t have the part number on hand, but the easiest way is to visit your local VW dealer, look for a MK7 GTI at the lot and write down the vin. Then use this vin to order the diffuser. Hope this helps In addition, make sure to keep the vin as you will need it again I guarantee you that! :-) I love that most of the GTI parts are interchangeable with the 1.8T
Removing the old diffuser is harder that installing the new one in. During removal you really have to yank hard and carefully at the same time given the diffuser might tear or break. Putting the new one in is very easy.
I just installed Mega Flow duel exhurst mufflers and I have trouble install the rear diffuser. It seems your car doesn't have mud flag. Did you removed those?

A good start would be is to convert to a GTI turbo back exhaust system be it a used OEM or an aftermarket one, or a combination of both. It will definitely opens your 1.8t for more options and possibilities long term.
Dan Clifford looking at a photo of 1.6TDI, the diffuser look exactly like the 1.8TSI. I believe the featured OEM GTI diffuser should fit just fine. You can also ask your local dealer for cross reference between TSI vs TDI to make sure! Part numbers should be the same. Now as for fitting your car with a GTI turbo back I would not know given I am not familiar with how the turbo and exhaust system are setup on a TDI
@@JNBTuning hi thanks for the reply I was hoping you would say that because my diffuser is exactly like yours in the video. As for exhaust mine doesn't run through the middle of the irs. My exhaust goes over the rear torsion beam so have to have a custom one made.
Yeah I just noticed how smoky it was before the retrofit. No the oil is all good, as you can see the following day after the switch it wasn’t smoking at all. Anyhow it could be some left over water precipitation in the pipe.

If I am not mistaken FWD 2.0T turbo back exhaust will only fit 1.8T. I don’t think it will work for your 1.4T. As your downpipe is totally different.

I am not familiar with 1.4t’s turboback system, but if that is the case you will need a reducer from the new catback to your downpipe.

As what I have done in the video! MK7 Golf and MK7 GTI bumper are exactly the same, there for the diffuser are interchangeable
Note the MK7.5 golf platforms all have the same bumper, so all diffusers are interchangeable

Since the diffuser didn’t come with the clips or bolts to hold/lock the sides in place I used a zip ties

It is ideal so that way you don’t need to use a reducer. Technically you will need a reducer otherwise

What parts do you need to buy other than diffuser, any additional screw or clips?

jiajun xu my Golf didn’t come with a mud flap to start with. I had to get the GTI version after the fact

You still have the VWR springs here, correct? Did you get the springs specifically for the 1.8 TSI or did you get the ones for the GTI?
