Nice let's play and strategy! I got so fed up with this mission that i cleared the whole base up using the spy XD For the big patrol patroling the bridge I actually put all the men together and make them fire at them at once.
I blew up both barracks in the south compound, used trap and distract to kill off the large patrol, then let the surveillance bunker see the marine while I put the last bomb as close to the dam as possible without using the boat, to get a fairly high destruction count.
From what I can tell, I only played a demo of this a kid, shooting is usually a bad given that the enemies are way too numerous and your guys can't take enough abuse, and that's ignoring stuff like machine gun nests and tanks that I heard appear in later levels.
you can leave the big patrol intact. my version was to clear the compound, then evacuate across the stream exept marine and sapper. spy can walk, which frees a spot in the boat. place the marine and sapper in the boat, row to bunker. bomb. row to dam. bomb, row to safe side. exit and wait for the truck. hurray :)
