do you need to wait for wood to dry out before you soda blast? and do you install any kind of vapor barrier while you dry out? do you have to clean the new vapor barrier if you soda blast and all that stuff gets on the plastic do you have to clean it?
If the crawl space already has plastic down we leave that plastic in place dry the crawl space out then remove the plastic after soda blasting and replace it with new plastic.
@@CrawlSpaceNinja but do you ever dry the wood without any barrier? The way I do it now is I install a 10 mil, put some lrg’s and tent them if needed. But I clean the vapor barrier after I get the mold out. any tips?
The dirt in the crawlspace may be important to the structural integrity of the foundation. You can start removing the dirt but if you find out that you are removing dirt below the footer you will either need to stop or figure out if the house can be supported enough while excavating and pouring a new footer and foundation wall. A retaining wall is a functional addition to your landscape. When these walls are constructed correctly, they will be able to withstand a lot of pressure against them. There are many retaining walls that hold back water and soil for decades without any maintenance.
DougMS, we seal all vents from the crawl space to prevent the soda getting into the living space. Inhaling sodium bicarbonate at low levels is unlikely to harm the body. It is however possible to sneeze or cough when large amounts of the substance are directly inhaled. You should still wear dust masks or respirators even if you're only blasting baking soda at it.

Why not remove the dirt? Also Why do you have to build retaining wall?

After soda blasting does a disinfectant still need to be sprayed?
Yes, soda blasting removes mold sitting on the wood, disinfectant penetrates the wood to kill anything deeper.
What’s recommended disinfectant for the wood after soda blasting ?
