Time is only a measurement of position within space, eternity is the force of continued perception to create the projection of what is between in and around to be in less or more dense form. The spirit world is felt and observed when we dream, mediate, fast, pray and find the ability to connect, the physical form is the environment, body of light/life supportive of the spirit and continues through the realms of creation
Time flows based on quantity of information enchange, not on seconds. While it may appear that your father is doing nothing and staying still, a tremendous amount of information is flowing within him, the outside and god. The seconds are still there, but your father is far away already. That is also why some people where nothing happens in their life, time seems to flow very slowly in relation to seconds.
