First time I ever heard Converge was at this show. I still remember them setting up and the double bass hitting and my friend getting excited. This show was incredible and I loved this venue.
I was at this show. Great lineup. Fairweather, The Hope Conspiracy, Bane and Converge. Equal Vision showcase. One of the best times I ever saw Converge by far.
Man I really really miss old converge. Last probably 12 times I’ve seen them it’s been wildly boring. No crowd involvement (due to the fact of playing mostly venues with a crowd barrier), hell even at deathwish fest the security didn’t even allow moshing. Plus they no longer play anything from their older stuff anymore. Thank you for posting this!
MessyBlumpkin I saw them for the first time back in December and it was fuckin wild. I guess it depends on what venue or city you're seeing them(I'm in Richmond Va which has a lot of punk and hardcore history). In terms of their set, the furthest they went back was 2 songs from Jane Doe so that is kind of a bummer. I would luuuuuuuuv to hear the old metallic as fuck stuff, too.
I saw them live in 2003 ,you couldn't immagine the crowd, i was 15 or so, It was so damn wild, a whirlwind of a moshpit, "you fail me" was Just released, hardcore changed so much, woke culture ruined It.
yeah the older stuff up to jane doe def needs the double guitars. Hard to imagine what the new stuff would sound like w/ bedard. Im hoping someone digs up the footage high roller shot of them as a 5 piece in philly around this time

my first cd was unloved and weeded out and had a lot of old shit on it i fucking loved that cd next i bought was caring and killing. old converge is still as original and amazing as new converge.

Zach Carlin some says it was because of creative differences. Aaron wants to play something more “simple” while Converge as you know it was about to go more “technical”. I read it somewhere but forgot the source.
Dalbec had also been in ten yard fight at this point i think. He was more into the straight forward hxc scene and kurts playing was just getting weirder and weirder. Give Blood blew up at this pointtoo and i assume he couldnt do both full time. I know kurt has said he wrote jane doe for one guitar. im still not 100% sure dalbec tracked his parts or if he just got credit on the album.
