This is a GREAT interview. Terry Carr did a great job here, professional interview. These guys, this band is GENUINELY close. You can tell. SADLY not like my favorite band I be up with, Journey 😢 Multiple internal lawsuit. The Journey singer Arnel Pinada posted in Twitter that if they want to fire me, he said go ahead. So sad. The drummer bass guys fired 2 years ago. That's the 2nd time both these guys have been fired from Journey. That is INSANE. Yeah, Strong bond. BA
They are an amazing group! Went and saw a live .38 Special concert about a month ago in Albertville, Alabama. It's was a very awesome concert. Even though the concert itself had a lots of energy and was loud, it still wasn't/isn't the same as when Donnie Van Zant was still with them. I saw them back in 2009 at Alabama adventure at the out door theater there and they put on they same show as they did back in Sturgis, 1999
Besides Skynard which by the 80s was over, 38 Special was big, real big. The first southern rock band besides Skynard, to penetrate the west coast airwaves. As a Californian stationed in Mayport Fl in the 1980s I was blown away by the number of titty-bars and well, Southern Style Rock. These guys could put on a hell of a show melodical to the extreme. They actually played the EM enlisted men's clubs which meant on the Naval Station. The EM clubs, there was one on every base, were huge Mayport's was massive. 5000 sailors Every night! There were bands in town but I think the drinking age was 18 for beer and 21 for hard stuff. On base, name your poison. BUBIT was another opener. They had a lady singer that was as good as Pat Benatar. No shortage of awesome bands in Mayport, 38 Special was however indeed special. So melodic, even then they were down to earth, polished, sincere. They took us home, even if it was for only for 15 mins you got transported away....... True legends.

Appreciate your efforts....But ....as far as your evaluation of her Southern Rock "Lifestyle" comment...your reaction surprised me a little... ...Sure , it was kinda naively silly....But I think that Don , and Donnie might agree with it , to some degree...I mean. ..These guys are still playing100 shows a year. ..?! And they sure ain't doin it for the bread...So , I think there must , indeed , be a big upside to livin like they continue to do. Her comment has more truth to it , than even she realizes .
