  • Ask A Gettysburg Guide #35- Gettysburg Myth Busting
Tim Smith is back to bust just some of the myths surrounding the Battle of Gettysburg. This is a fun episode (gasp! "Fun", you say?) in which Tim clears up some of our Patrons' confusion about myths, legends and outright fabrications. Plus he offers advice on how to research these questions and answer them for yourself.

I toured Gettysburg in 1973 when I was nine; the LBG told us the equestrian story & the southerners were looking for shoes. I believed both for many years. I don’t recall the LBG’s name, but he had to be in his 70s or 80s. 🙂

Oh I know. I’ve heard them say it too. This was like 25 years ago, but I believe that equestrian story up until just a few years ago. I was crushed when I learned it wasn’t true. It’s funny how history changes. That’s why it’s good that historians keep digging on subjects that have already been written about. Keeps things fresh

The 4 history commercial is either one of the funniest I’ve heard in a long time- definitely memorable
