    Since I left Russia, I've reacted to many different types of Russian propaganda on this channel - from Russian propaganda music to Z anniversary concerts. I've also previously talked about propaganda videos in which foreigners in Russia are paid by the government to star in videos promoting Russia, in which these Z Westerners say that life in Putin's Russia is way better and more free than the West, akshually. In today's video, however, we have our most unhinged westerner yet - meet Teddy Boy Greg, a 'former American' barber who loves Russia so much that he got a Z tattoo on his chin. He also seems to like Russia because he is a massive confederate. I wonder why. So, let's check out this Russian American's story and see what Russian propaganda is up to these days!

      @sps6374 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Justsomebodyelse235I’m Black in the US sense (biracial African-European) and went in 2012 and was told repeatedly by hotel staff, tour guides and a ship captain never to take the subway or walk alone in Moscow as there had been a slew of straight up murders of African students by neonazi gangs for about 5 years back then, getting stabbed or pushed under the subway by skinheads. Over 800 racist attacks in 2005 in St Petersburg alone, mostly on foreign students.
      I didn’t see as many WWII (and not the right side) graffiti or as many skinheads in Russia as in the Czech Republic, Croatia (that one was a surprise) and Poland (again, a surprise given WWII history), but I felt a LOT less safe knowing they were less into symbols and more into action. Thank goodness I don’t only have a Senegalese passport because my embassy would’ve been powerless had anything serious happened. Yet, I didn’t stray from the touristic attractions at all, which was a shame but a lot better than exposing myself to the possibility of gratuitous hate crimes. You can look it up, Amnesty International wrote about it

    • @sps6374
      @sps6374 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Justsomebodyelse235the Amnesty International report, which is from around 2006, is entitled ‘Russian Federation : Violent racism out of control’ and has a few specific examples like those of Liana Sisoko, Lamsar Samba Sall, Roland Epassak, Kanhem Leon, murdered by assailants with Swastikas, and other examples like the international students dorm of the Russian People’s Friendship University arson (which killed 42 and injured nearly 200), etc.
      There aren’t many Black people in Russia apart from African students, but there are lots of Caucasian (as in, from the Caucasus 🏔️ area, not as in “White”), Roma, South Asian and Middle-Eastern people, on top of Russia’s own ethnic minorities, and they are the ones who bear the brunt of violent racism there, not us (since there’s so few of us).
      Examples like Khursheda Sultonova speak volume: she was killed at 9 years old in St Petersburg by a mob of teenage skinheads with knives and rods, who also beat up her father and cousin to within an inch of their lives- all for being of Tajik origin. This happened the same month that Enrique Urtado, an 18yo Peruvian student was beaten to death by another racist gang in Voronezh, directly followed by Amaru Antoniu Lima, a student from Guinea-Bissau. The next month, Abd al Kader Badawie, a Syrian student, was pushed under a subway by another neonz. Then it was on to Vu Anh Tuan’s turn, a Vietnamese student, who was stabbed. That was just the beginning, in the early naughts, and it’s been going on since.
      Crime happens everywhere, but the frequency and severity of purely xenophobic and racist murders in Russia is truly astounding, and has been so for a good 20 years. I live in Western Europe, and here we hear of racism pretty often too, but it’s usually tomb desecration, graffiti, insults or denial of service. But not freakin *murder* and arson!
      I’ve been to over 45 countries as a tourist and there’s only a handful where I knew that being a woman alone was a potential issue, and even fewer where just having my skin colour show could statistically result in physical harm - Russia is #1 in that club.

      It wasn't out in public, Nazi propaganda still portrayed Bolshevik Marxists as controlled by degeneracy, chaos and for years, troikas of Communists in Ukraine would kill any refugees who were exposing Stalin's secret crimes in collectivisation to the media as fascists, that were portrayed as capitalist democracies (the Weimar republic made by the allies with American investments in its economic reconstruction to the tune of enough money to rearm completely Germany's industrial factories neeed for war, the Wall St. investments in IG. Farben and so on) in the most extreme form of imperial decay.
      Whether fascism is risen due to Stalin's realpolitik and Communist's rising which scared and turned reactionary and far-right Western Europe, or because capitalism got so inefficient and corrupt, as FDR said, that Wall St caused a Great Depression that made Germany economically stagnant, while betting on fascist political groups to help turn the tide in Germany against its popular Communist party (which the brown shirts fought in the streets), the rise of fascism is due to the awful and unnecessary destruction of the world that the kings and queens of Europe embarked upon at the climax of the 19th century thus utterly changing the course of mankind, how war is waged and how propaganda is delivered to mobilize nations into ideologies of nationalism for war efforts and purposes.
      The war involved the whole world, so different narratives arise on how it started depending on the political points of view of the person explaining the second world war.

    THIS GUY LOST THE PLOT. He's not even from the Southern US (Alabama, Georgia, Texas...), but from New Jersey. He claims to be into rocknroll, but Southern segregationists denounced it as a "vulgar and obscene music", especially because African Americans played a crucial role in it. Soviet Russia denounced rocknroll as a "degenerate" music, too. The Soviets would not approve of this guy's "degenerate" image and they would sent him to a reeducation camp, but he hanged Stalin's portrait in his shop, what an irony. He doesn't look like a conservative to me. Not to mention his nonsense about "Russia giving him a freedom of speech". It is the iron cross, still used by the Bundeswehr up to this day, but it is 100% a symbol used by Nazis everywhere. It is more ambiguous than a swastika, but it screams to other Nazis that he is one of their boys, no doubt about it. If you did not serve in the german army, then having it tatood on your body is definetly a sign or rightwing extremism. Probably even if you served there. Like why woul you want that tatoo?

      to be fair though, people of the same ideological current change their cultural attitudes over time, especially with regards to music, clothing and methods of communication. Nazis didn't know about Metal and Rock and would likely have hated it, but lots of neo-nazis are into it today.
      Which by the way only shows how meaningless their views on "degeneracy" are, as what is seen as degenerate can be celebrated later, after it has become so accepted that people forget about having othered it.

    I grew up in Collingswood and went to school with Greg; we were in the same grade. It's been beyond disappointing to see how far he's taken his shit ideology.
    I always got the feeling he hated something inside of himself. He internalized the dysfunction of his home life, and by middle school, he'd started creating identities he could run from himself into-- punk, skins, rockabilly, etc. He never really fit in, but the irony is if he had just humbled himself and maybe gone to therapy or something, he could have just been himself and people would have liked him just fine. Instead, he alienated himself to such an insurmountable, alarmingly unlikable degree, while marking himself with permanent identifiers that will make it almost impossible for him to shake these darkest life-turns he's taken that ultimately brought him to Russia of all places.
    He has spent decades running to find the most extreme identity for himself, so that when his fear of social rejection inevitably materializes, he can blame it on his unpopular ideology, rather than his internal shortcomings that contribute to his interpersonal challenges and failings.
    Collingswood has been and continues to be a wonderful town of progressive working/middle class folks, Teddyboy Gregs notwithstanding. I don't know what more we could have done as a community to help him, but no one else we grew up with became an internationally clowned neon yahtzee, so at some point, there's only so much a community can do, the rest is on him.

      rock and roll was an abomination in 1950s society.
      although rock and roll sounds rather tame nowadays, despite its upbeat nature, it was very offensive to the ears of its contemporaries, and parents of children considered it dangerous.
      some studies published in the newspapers suggested that listening to rock and roll music reduced intelligence.
      in austria, it went so far as to ban rock and roll in one province.
      rock and roll's reputation as "black music" also increased its suspiciousness among white americans and europeans.
      many older people hoped that rock and roll would remain a short-lived phenomenon that would be forgotten in a few weeks.
      so. to be against "degeneracy", as he says many times, first he needs to burn his rock and roll stuff, and change it to things like 19th century russian classical composers, like The Five:
      Mily Balakirev, César Cui, Modest Mussorgsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Alexander Borodin.
      secondly, he needs to laser away all his tattoos. thanks to advances in laser technology, today's lasers can get rid of tattoos more safely and effectively.
