Wow! He does great with that! What a blessing that we have the technology that makes it possible for Max and others with special needs and communications challenges to communicate in this way.
I read about you and Max in (I believe) a Woman's Day article the other day, and I was so touched by your story. I felt like my heart grew three sizes seeing his smile and hearing his gorgeous laugh!
Blessings to you and your family.

I love this video. I wish I could afford an IPad for my 6 year old, Teddy. He is non-verbal and has a PECS book but he uses and IPad at school and it would be so much easier to update than having to find images, makes cards and laminate them.

Kirsty above has a good idea. You can also crowd-source funding via sites like GoFundMe. I know this is obvious, but definitely Google "Ipad giveaways" as there are sites that do these; a reader once asked me about these, I did a quick Google and found a site that was having a contest, and she won.

Hi. Max has cerebral palsy. But I think the app is helpful to children with a wide range of communication challenges. I hope her speech therapist can give this or other speech apps a try!

His interaction with this gadget is awesome to watch and see how smoothly he flows in maneuvering but my son will need something maybe more basic with less maneuvers i believe. Do you have any suggestions? Any will help and thanks for sharing!

I am happy to tell you that I am working on something way more simple. I am working together with a kid with only a 3% functioning brain on a simple app like this.

Ingodseyes H Hi. The Proloquo2Go can be very simplified. Does your son's speech therapist know about augmentative communication? Could your child get an evaluation from a communications specialist who can help you pick what's best for him? I wrote a relevant post, Google Love That Max how to encourage a non-verbal child to communicate. Sara Almeida So cool you have that in the works.

When you have a child with a disability it is too expensive to buy an Apple product. Is this available on android??? If not why not?

Hi, Joy. I believe the Proloquo2Go is only for iPads-here's their website, www.assistiveware.com/product/proloquo2go There are grant programs that help parents buy equipment for their children, including technology. Here's a post that lists several: www.lovethatmax.com/2015/04/free-things-for-kids-with-special-needs.html

This is a little late, but if you search proloquo2go on the android playstore you'll find quite a few free options compared to prolo. It isn't the same but that doesn't mean it wont help give someone a voice :)
