You have a good Buck he knows what he’s doing the Does weren’t lifting for him the first time! The second time you had a fall off which is a successful breeding two more of these and your Doe should be pregnant! 👍🏻
Thank you so much Paul! Our first time with rabbits, obviously. Lol
We must be copying y'all or something. We just serendipitously ended up with 4 rabbits! How neat! We miss y'all!
- James
How cool! What kind did you get? We definitely need to get together and share a meal soon. We miss y’all as well. 🙂
Great minds think alike 😅
🙂😊
Yes I’d say that was a success. We usually do at least 2 fall-offs.❤
Woot! Thank you! We are such novices. 😂
We intend to get rabbits in the next couple of years so I'm interested in seeing how this goes! Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Hi sdraper2011! Thank you. We have been enjoying the rabbits. We especially like the fertilizer. Let us know when you get rabbits. 🙂
I do not know about any other breeds, but my New Zealands were great moms. They are quite meaty but the bones are hard so your teeth know it when you bite down so we mostly de-boned before eating so we could get them past the kids. We are them in stews, casseroles and soups a lot.
I heard they were great for meat. That is good to know about the bones. 😊
My buck does not have fall offs and he always has a successful breeding
Hi Funnystuff! Thank you! We had a never heard or read about that. Appreciate it,
@@RenewedHomestead you are so welcome
My rabbits regularly fell off backwards to the side. What happened the last time was a good indication of a successful mating. I always gave them two to three meetings even if falloffs happened. You can even give them a breeding opportunity twice in the same day. Perhaps the first rabbit was not as mature as the other even though of the same age. Was she the recessive one and the other the dominate one? You did everything correctly according to what I know. I would try both does tomorrow and Monday and the first doe again in 7 days, but the second doe is likely bred and the second or third meetings will only increase the likelihood of a larger litter.
Hey Dwight, what kind of rabbits do you raise?
Thank you so much Dwight! We are such novices. 😂
The one that took was the more dominant one I believe. We will definitely do today and tomorrow. Thanks again.
Not every rabbit 'falls off', but it's 99%. They fall off backwards more than to the side, but I've seen both. Even if you don't ever see a fall off if the does start to whine when the buck is chasing them, they are already pregnant or having a 'falsie'. Always give a nest box as if the first breeding took. That was a very definite 'fall off' 😂🤣
Thank you! That is good to know. We hasn’t heard that about the whine. We are just glad it looked like a “fall”. Lol We are going to put them in tomorrow just in case. 🤞🙂 We didn’t know what what we were looking for exactly. 😂
We will definitely prepare a nest box. Thanks so much Heather!
Thank you for this information. We attempted breedings with our does and didn’t get a fall off on either one.
@AllOuttaSpoons good luck with your rabbits. 😊
Welp, that was a definite "fall off', LOL! I'd say you're gonna have New Years babies! And rabbits are not the only animal that has "induced ovulation" . . . ferrets and cats, as well as camels, llamas and alpacas are all induced ovulators.
Thanks Julia! How interesting! We had no idea. Nature is amazing!
Looked successful to me. Time will tell. Lol 😂 👍🏻 We normally give ‘em the chance several days in a row to make sure they connect. ✅👍🏻
Thank you! We appreciate you and Robbie Lynn. We are such newbies! 😂
When do the kits stop sleeping under the fur the mom pulled? We only had 1 survivor and hes 13 days old now. He's so big the fur barely covers him anymore lol. I cut up an old soft sweater to give him a blanket but I'm worried he won't be able to breath under it. He climbed out his nest last night and couldn't get back in. This is our first kit so I could use some advice ❤
Hi June, I am so sorry you lost the kits. That is difficult. We find about 2.5- 3 weeks of age they start hopping out and by 4 weeks they should be weaned from mama. The rabbit should have plenty of fur, so unless you are really cold I am sure they will be fine. What type of rabbit?
Hi June, a good channel about rabbits is the @therabbitrycenter

Great thanks
Thank you!
Yes! The fall off is what you’re looking for!😂
😂 he did it. 😂 Thank you Darla. 😊
This is a very timely video for us, as we have been considering getting rabbits next year. What were the reasons you went with the silver fox rabbits as opposed to some of the other breeds?
Also very interested to know what it costs to feed a trio of rabbits for a year?
We sold our goats earlier this year due to labor and high hay prices. So we have been thinking about another animal species that is cheaper to feed. Thank you!
Hi Justtom! We love having the rabbits. The fertilizer alone is great. During the spring and summer we feed them greens around the property or put them in the greens for them to eat. Now that things have stopped growing we are feeding pellets, hay, and alfalfa as a treat. We pay $20.50 for a 50 pound bag and that lasts about 2.5-3 months. The alfalfa is about $13 a bale but that is just a treat. It isn’t much considering the meat and the fertilizer you get. Does that help?
We get our pellets from the co-op or feed store. At TSC the feed is expensive, so don’t buy there. 🙂
We chose the silver Fox because we read they weee calm. So far they are. They are also cold tolerant which works during winter. That is why we are breeding them now. They don’t do as well in every heat, so we won’t breed them in the summer. Their fur is also very soft and beautiful.
@@RenewedHomestead Thank you very much! That does help!
She ain't ready
Thanks Buck, our buck got it done. 😊
What color kits did they produce grey/black
Hi americabutcher, they had white and black/dark grey. 🙂
Oh goody 😄 I have the cage but didn't take the plunge on getting one yet..thinking of harvesting them is cringe worthy right now for me😕 oh I'll be watching closely..
Hi lady ryan, processing those little guys is not going to be easy, you are 💯 right about that.
Let us know if you get some and what kind. I really like the fertilizer, lol
Hey I'm gonna breed my bunny with my brothers bunny and do they need to be bonded??
Hi Igotabunny, no, they don’t need to be bonded. 😊 Good luck!
Our rabbit 🐇 had a toy dog 😆
Hi RH, that is awesome! 😂
The doe is holding her rear down
Thank you! We finally figured it all out. Appreciate the help. 😊
👍
Thank you James Jessee!
They were New Zealands
We are getting 3 of the New Zealand’s from the Homesteading Pastor. 🙂
They fall every way
Thanks Buck. As long as they fall right? 😆
She has to raise her behind for him to get access. She did not raise up.
Thanks John. We appreciate it. This being new to us we are unsure still.
Ur does were not lifting there tails
Hi karahholder, thanks. She did eventually. 😂
Let him do that 3 times
Thanks Buck Reynolds.
1 lol
At least he got one! 😂
Don't believe everything you read
Good advice. 😊
Very inhumane meat
Hi, do you think all meat is born on a styrofoam plate?
