I just realized that Dave is a genius at getting amazing musicians for Megadeth. I mean just look at the line-ups over the years - Marty, Nick, Gar, Broderick, Poland, Kiko, Dirk, Adler and Young. I mean, even Jeff Loomis auditioned at one point. The versatility and technicality of the guitarists and drummers mixed with Dave's leadership is what makes Megadeth the most technical of the big four.
Mustaine is to Thrash what Miles Davis was to jazz. MIles did the same thing - he surrounded himself with the absolute best musicians you could find in the genre.

Damn man, it just made my new SOLID backing track for Mechanix. Dirk just fucking NAILED this song to perfection. What a honour to our late Gar. It just shows how great of a drummer Dirk is, and how versatile he is to nail those jazz-fusion parts that Gar put in. Fantastic.

Dirk Verbeuren is my current all-time favorite Megadeth drummer, with him and the rest of the Megadeth guys, the Megadeth sound is back, alive and kicking.
Kiko and Marty are very different, but his level is there. Even so, it's a different era. Mustaine is older now, so I'm not expecting another RIP or PS level record. The material itself just hasn't been there, regardless of the caliber of players. But I'd be happy with something akin to Youthanasia.
Dirk is such a beast... and Gar was so far ahead of his time... He was literally playing things that none of the other "Big 4" drummers could even play. Gar's rudiments, fluidity and jazz training put him in a different stratosphere from the other metal drummers of his time.
Flawless work Dirk, the double bass section during the solo? Mind-blowing and on point! Gar would be proud that his legacy has shined through since 1985. We miss you Gar, 20 years gone in July 2019 :(

I just saw Megadeth perform this yesterday in Arizona and all four guys kicked ass on the show. IMO the best lineup ever after Marty, Nick, and Junior.

I'm REALLY looking forward for the next Megadeth album! Had the chance to see the current band lineup back in the summer and Kiko's and Dirk's performance was amazing (and of course... Dave and David were simply killer! 🤘)!

They said they'll record and release it after the FFDP tour. So this summer. Which means we'll get the tour in winter. And next year maybe a festival tour

All I can think about how good this dude is. His kick drum attack is unbelievable and drives the song hard as shit. He’s kicking those drums HARD believe me I’m a drummer too. The tone is in your limbs in drums and he definitely has it.

But I really missed the double bass shuffle on the bridge. Everything else is perfect! Great Drum sound, by the way! Congrats to all the studio people involved with this amazing video! And obviously congrats to Dirk Verbeuren, for bringing back the classic Megadeth drum style! \m/
Thank you! Yes, while Dirk is a fantastic drummer, Gar had a swing to his playing that is missing. Gar wasn't a thrash drummer. He had fusion and swing chops. It's a feel difference.
I agree. I actually prefer The 4 Horsemen because there's room for the riff to do it's thing, and for the others to do their things in the spaces. You feel the swing, as you call it.
I just went and listened to the original. It has some fine swing in it, and I like both drummers playing it. I think Dirk's interpretation has more 'drive' to it with more straight ahead double kick patterns

What a beast ! Like a soccer team, Mustaine successfully merged the old school Thrash, represented by him and Ellefson, and the new era of metal with Kiko an Dirk. As a Brazillian myself and a Loureiro fan I can assure you, Kiko has much more to offer to Megadeth in terms of musicality and I believe Dirk has too ! I'm thrilled to next Megadeth album !
I've listened to Soilwork more than Megadeth over the last decade or so and was bummed at first he left that band but I'm happy for him that he got the gig and it's great to see such a great drummer playing for Megadeth.
