Great Video! Excuse me for butting in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you considered - Chireetler Earning Maker Rule (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is an awesome one off product for learning how to make candles for fund or profit minus the normal expense. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my BF at very last got great results with it.
I've never used bee's wax for this but it definitely works with paraffin wax. Instead of having your dipping container filled all the way up with wax have half water and half wax. As long as the water stays hot the wax will stay liquid, and the water always goes to the bottom and the wax to the top. The candle will collect wax as it passes through the top layer so hitting the water won't affect the length at all, it will also collect wax as it passes back up through the wax on it's way out of the container. If you keep the hot water topped up you will eventually use all the wax in the container so less wasted wax sticking to the sides as well.
It'll take me forever and a day to get enough stubs to do even two tapers, but honestly this video is the bee's knees, no music, no voiceover, just the facts. Well done. Beeswax is the best candles, bar none.
Today I thought, "Watching taper candles be dipped is probably oddly soothing." I'm glad I found this, I was so right! Thank you for posting! I may eventually try it out myself.
I have a whole lot of beeswax from candles I tried making the melt and pour way which were a disaster because beeswax cools so fast and needs a much thicker wick than I'd used before. Now I know what to do with them! Melt them again and make dipped candles! Thanks so much for your savvy and simple videos that not only inspire but entertain as well!
@@anumyassen8087 I know it's been a whole year, and I hope your friend's birthday went well, but the wax is purchased (this video uses beeswax) and then melted.
yes, in case anyone is still wondering: beeswax is made by bees! and sold to us the candlemakers.... or used by the apiarist themselves for candlemaking. best from Australia (Down Under)

This is why I never question the price of Beeswax candles when buying them. Much work goes into making them. We still have a set of very long tapers that we bought in Williamsburg, Va 20 years ago.
Something about your hands, they reminded me of my hard working grandmother, wish I got to spend more time with her before she passed..Thanks for this awesome video
Last time I checked candles are still made with wax. You must be talking about bees wax what was use here and paraffin wax which is made from crude oil.
This is my first honey and wax harvest. I find your method simple and effective, I love to watch how the candles form. Thank you so very much for uploading this video.
I have about 50 boxes of old brood wax frames. I just made your steam melter and now I am a keen follower of yours! I have 8 hives now, down from 40 a few years ago but this winter my plan is to do all things wax related. Melt the combs, make foundation, candles, creams, salves and wood finishes. I like your scale, simplicity and efficiency. Thank you for your lovely video's. Keep up the fine work!
+Peter Burritt Good to know that, Peter. Sometimes we get told off because we don't talk enough in the videos! Thanks for watching and best wishes to your daughter
When I was young, some 50 years ago, we lived near a bee keeper. Dipping candles was the way we earned extra money and there was a flurry of dipping activity in the weeks just prior to Christmas. We too used the nuts for weights and a water pitcher for a cooling bath. Thank you for this video,,, I have not thought of those dipping days in early winter for quite awhile.
bluemtnsman probably people have making candles for thousands of years - it's nice to be part of the line, isn't it? Thanks for watching so many of our little videos - you probably know us quite well by now! Best wishes from Ireland!
(smacks head) Thank you so much for this video. Had never even thought of dipping the candles in cool water between wax dips! This will save me so much time!
Thank you so very much for sharing this easy to follow, and to the point tutorial! I have a small container candle business I opened and have been running since October of 2014. I've been wanting to venture out into making pillars and tapered candles for quite some time now, and this video is definitely going to help me in this process! Thank you again! And I hope you have a happy and prosperous New Year!
Brilliant to attach weights with the wax itself! I have been tying them which seems so silly now!!! Gorgeous twisting 2 candles together! Thank you so much for sharing your ingenuity.
Beeswax candles are very expensive, and I use a lot of them to light a very big room, so I always make mine like this. Gives the beautiful warm glow if you light a lot of them in one room.
This video is just what I want! In my country, this dipping technique is not open and I have no choice but to take an expensive exprt candle class. I really appreciate to you.:)
These are fabulous. I burn candles all the time. Junk candles. You've given me a fun project!! Thinking shorter fat ones. Maybe 4" tall and the with of little less than a votive. Can make them when I'm not canning quail eggs or making goat milk soap. Thank you so much!!! (Mostly for keeping it simple) 🌷
This is amazing video! Your candles are so beautiful. I've been wanting to do this and you've inspired me to try it. Thank you so much for the information.
Hi, I am in Ottawa Canada and I think you have just inspired me to start dipping! I have moulded candles before, but always thought it would be nice to dip too! I will see if I can find time this weekend to try it. Thank you for the wonderful TH-cam instructions. The internet and computers really make "it a small world after all" as the song goes. Craig_m
Great video!!! Thank you for sharing.I have made homemade candles off and on in the past using molds. Obvious drawback is I am limited to the number of molds I have which is not many. I have got to try this when I get the chance. Looks fun and so simple at the same time.
Wonderful tutorial, and thank you for showing the whole process start to finish! I'll be getting some beeswax to make my own soon, I like the short 6" tapers but finding any nearby for a price I can afford is difficult... just buying the wax and dipping them myself seems to be the most economical option!
I apologize for the exact question (at the bottom of such a creative video), but I wonder how much time is spent on making such candles ... and of course, I am delighted with what you are doing I live in a big city and I think people forget and sometimes even feel shy about such activities Now you can buy everything. As a rule, what is sold is cheaper and has a more beautiful look. but How valuable that you do!
You folks amaze me, what all you do. Your tapers are elegant and the color ... can 'see' a candle holder (maybe uniquely hand hewn?) from a nicely grained hardwood than varnished, graced by a long slender taper :). Mrs. Tc
My daughter and her friend are using this as the basis for their transition year business. Somehow I don't think I'll get paid for my beeswax! Oh well, it's a good cause. Thanks for the post, I always enjoy them.
I'm a new beekeeper and was wondering what I would do with the wax (when I get some!) Thank you for the great video. Visited Ireland in 2005, loved it.. reminds us of Oregon, USA
“They float like tiny trees” was honestly the sweetest thing I’ve heard all week. Cheers from Co. Wexford!

Hi there. Do you sell that candle? 🤔 I looking for buy 300. Shipping un Germany
Wow. One of the best candle video and the easiest one
So true, it really is a simple process. No need to complicate it like a lot do!

I have been dipping candles for years. Mostly the same way. But I never dipped them in water between the wax dip. Good job. Hutch
I love the farmstead sounds of this video, from bees to cows...thank you! Want to try this with my students

Great video! Wax candles are so much better than whatever they make most candles out of now.

Brilliant. I don't have the fancy molds. Who needs molds when you got ingenuity .. thanks so much ... 👍
please respond love your silent video, my daughter is deaf so she can understand PERFECTLY!!
+Peter Burritt Good to know that, Peter. Sometimes we get told off because we don't talk enough in the videos! Thanks for watching and best wishes to your daughter
The reason I particularly love this video is because you DON'T talk. Simple, clear, no blah blah blah.
I’m partly deaf so I can’t appreciate the video enough for the same reason!
@@WayOutWestx2 I love this video because I mostly watch at night with the sound off, and with your videos I can understand everything!

Love this! My friend has a hive and does not know what to do with the wax. I shall show this to him!!
Beeswax is great for a number of things: Candlewax, polishing, lipbalm etc etc
