The idea that the dragon gym leader is the first one encountered is SO funny- its like Julia somehow beats her with her random pokemon but still has no idea whats going on, and Karina ends up tagging along because she just needs to figure out how Julia's brain works

so in the sixth generation they introduce the idea that pokemon are basically made out of pure energy. in legends they expand on that and introduce the idea that all pokemon are able to shrink at will, which is how pokeballs function. they don't do anything other than hold the pokemon. the pokemon itself just shrinks to fit inside. a very early art book blurb actually also supports this by implying that the first modern pokeballs were made after a man's primeape got scared and shrunk down to hide in a glasses case.
The fact Drawfee has more pokemon than new ones introduced in half of the official generations... now I want Drawfee to make their own Palworld not tainted by AI

@@cyanthropeNot all of them. But also there were a lot of actual model rips so it isn't really a defense. And models not just from Pokemon, but also stuff from Digimon, Yokai Watch, Pokemon fan art, and likely other Monster catching games I can't think of off the top of my head.

The only one I can actually say for sure isn't here (understandably) is the one they made during one of their Seattle shows!
They made a Flying/Poison pokemon based on the Space Needle named Spineedle and he was a freaky little guy.
Understandably not here but Spineedle cannot be forgotten!
I really love the shapes, particularly for all of the pokemon! They all look like they are doing delibrate actions and are each unique
Everyone is talking about the Scrafty but I haven't got to it yet. What I did see was Conkeldurr that is made blue and channelling Hitmontop. Conkeldurr is a real Pokemon that is literally the Gen 5 Machamp. Gen 5 also introduced Scraggy and Scrafty, whom I catch every gen I can and name after different types of pants or underpants consistently with few exceptions.

youre insane for this and it came out so good. the way to remember which one is a baguette and which one is a croissant is that croissants look like crescent shapes. i think of all you drew, the pumpkaboo is my favourite, you gave it such a fun energy, kind of hiding behind the legs of the big guy, still looking mischevous.

Just that background that you casually introduce in the first minutes, as if that alone didn't take you hours upon hours. Just looking at it made me dizzy, I can't imagine conceiving of something so complex. I bet Julia did an Obama impressed face when she watched it.
And then SO many people and creatures! It's taken four people YEARS to draw these. And you manage to draw them all, most of them even from different angles. In one huge composition that makes sense and leads the viewer along so many cool and cute scenes. And you coloured all of it! Added dramatic and atmospheric lighting!! And all of that in ONE video!!!

I am awed, frightened, impressed and delighted by the insane work that went into this!! It is beautiful and the steel scaffolding dungeon design is super cool. I love the little instances of the groups of Pokés interacting, like Monferno petting the Sealeo lump! Also, something about this Chunkizard makes him look like he belongs on a Little Golden Book cover and I am obsessed with him.

This is an absolutely ABSURD amount of Pokemon to be drawing, and that's coming from a guy planning to make a 151 fakemon pokedex of his own at some point. It's nice to see some of the old classics coming in, too, where they just... had weapons for some unknown reason. Wonderful job, I applaud your decision to place them all in a cohesive background--I would have 100% just. plopped them on a white background and called it done lmao. Backgrounds are hard and Annoying.

One of the things I'm working on and will probably be making a series on is me making a bunch of my personal beastiary digital, as well as making up more new ones~!
Me and my DM are working off and on with making one, the idea being that it's journal entries from like 3 different people and thus sometimes you get conflicting info on the same animal based on that person's interactions with them. Each of the 3 people have different art styles and such. In fact, literally 1 of the jokes is that 1 of them can't draw well and that way we get to include all my concept doodles XD
This is so much fun, I absolutely love the bit about how, since it’s three different authors, you have conflicting information! That’s something I really enjoy playing with in my games too! In the world we’re playing in currently, there are three different nations with conflicting creation myths that represent biases from each culture. Little things like that scratch my brain in a wonderful way. Thank you for sharing!

I love that! The NPC book we're planning is literally like a tavern keeper's log book so you only find out whatever was told to the bartender or inn keeper (we're bouncing between the 2) and because they're generally neutral about who enters the entire thing could just as easily be taken as gossip and not factual about each person.
I have this thing where I tend to draw horror characters cute and sometimes cute characters as horror and since I kinda bounce between styles it made sense to be able to just include all of them! And to justify how different their interactions are we're assigning them each a different class.
They all genuinely love animals and beasts but they all go about it in very different ways
Our Steve Irwin based author is a fighter, for instance. So he always ends up in trouble because he prefers hand on interaction to learn about the creatures.
