Tbf Miyamoto hates almost everything he's shown He initially hated Toon Link as well and wanted them to make a realistic game. I will never understand this man.
Twilight Princess had my favorite art style. It feels like an old painting. And it actually made you feel like you were in a piece of art rather than a brightly colored world.
It's like chiaroscuro style paintings! Very popular during the Renaissance - high contrast with deep shadows and vivid lighting. I've always loved TP for its style, ever since I was a kid, and then I learned painting techniques that correlate to it in college.
I think thats one of the best parts about TP the realistic design that made a lot of characters disgusting, weird or ugly. Because it truly shows the setting of a fantasy world. Such a dark and eerie twist to the series i wish i could see again
@@Acceos Not only this, they have said that BOTW was like an OOT. both share parallel eras. (1998-2017). The zelda formula in 3D games was dictated and the concept of (Temples/Adventure) has been maintained in practically all zelda games (MM, TP, SS, WW) until BOTW that although it repeats the same thing, I don't feel the same, the temples don't feel complex like temples and the map went from being "small" to open world. It revolutionized what could not be revolutionized... Now they will keep the formula Open world / temples in any order in the others... Even with a graphic engine almost similar...
I mean nostalgia is great, but if you take the rose tented glasses off, and try to look at the game objectively what would you think as a person who never played the game before, and has no stance for, or against it. At the end of the day nostalgia is great, but getting people into what you like is also great, so you have to be able to lay out the good, and bad, and explain why despite all that you still recommend it because... X, and X. For instance I know I love Xenosaga, despite the bad graphics, and choppy voice acting because once the story starts picking up you can get lost in the characters their motivations, the spanning lore, and world building I could go on, but the story is simply a gripping experience.
This game has some of the best dungeons in the series and sense of scale. None are contestants for the best, but there is a lot of solid ones. The architecture and art direction when it came to some of the buildings and the whole ambiance overall feeling is good, but the game has a lot of flaws in the moment to moments playing.
@RUSh as a kid playing through it when it came out with my siblings I thought it was the best thing in the world at the time lol I'm sure if I went back to it today I'd be like "wow this was good graphics back in the day?"
The Twilight Princess dungeons are hands down the coolest dungeon aesthetics and it was cool how they leaned so hard into their new link items. I bet the development team spent the majority of their time on dungeon development.
The dungeon quality was really good. I sometimes do miss the over-world thing like Manley Reviews stated, that it's chiefly only for getting rupees. However, Twilight Princess is a really great dungeon crawler, and recognizing that while you play the game makes the fun of Twilight Princess much more clear in sight.
I long for that in 3D Zelda games again. My favorite 3d Zelda dungeons are the ones in Majora's Mask but TP is a close 2nd. I also liked how much smaller the overworld in Majora's Mask was yet it was full of secrets to find. I've wanted the series to return to that smaller yet fuller world like most of the 2d games and Majora had (though the one exception where I did like a big overworld was in Wind Waker with the vastness of the sea).
The part about Midna's Lament was SPOT on. Easily the most engaging moment of the game, amazing music and all. A master stroke in an already great game.
@@bradleydsmeltzer2090 In that moment it works but I do think the game in general could use orchestra as the midi score isn't nearly as epic as later Zelda games that use a real orchestra or other games similar to it at the time like Shadow Of The Colossus and Okami
Just imagine Wind Waker and Twilight Princess switching art styles. Wind Waker would be some Cuthulu stuff on the ocean and Twilight Princess would be even more of a drug trip.
@@rynobehnke8289 You're making me think of those Chibi Resident Evil cartoons that Capcom produced a few years ago hahaha. Twilight Princess would be perfect choice for the "Nintendo version" of those.
@160sharp it's basically just a better botw. It isn't a whole lot different but the changes they did make are definitely improvements imo. I've enjoyed it so far. I'm not a long time zelda fan and haven't played most of the games though so I can't compare it to the other games much.
I really like the way that Jacob Geller puts it - he says that Twilight Princess is all about power - who wields it, how people claim it and control it. The cutscene of link being warned of the darkness within him is a reflection of what would happen if he sought the triforce, Zant’s crazed rise to power and Midna’s killing him are all evidence of that, and Ganondorf manipulating and ultimately discarding Zant as he returns are all evidence of that theme of “how do you get and use power.” That’s how it distinguishes itself from Ocarina, in that it isn’t a simple hero’s tale to save the kingdom with a plot twist in the middle; it’s a struggle to control as much as possible (or relinquish that control to others).
I would not say that Ocarina is a simple hero's tale. That's like saying Inception is a movie about falling asleep. 😂 It is all about growing up. The child Link is forced to grow up, both physically and mentally, by the end of the game. The ending is bittersweet because although the bad guy loses and the heroes win, only Link remembers what happened. He is now stuck in a past that is not his past, probably has PTSD that no one can relate to. All of these themes are reinforced or confirmed in Majora's Mask.
@@pspublic13 yeah but he didn’t actually get to live out those moments. He was just thrown into the future from his perspective. A one with his friends being dead. He didn’t really grow into an adult. I feel like link was shown to be a strong and kind individual. Kid or adult his ambitions as a character didn’t really change. He just needed to get the master sword to defeat Gannon. Which Un-ironically sounds like a hero tale. Majoras mask is more about healing which can get pretty deep. Helping those move on which demonstrates his kindness and selflessness more. Link may genuinely be hurt that nobody knows of his accomplishments but his kindness and morality is unshakable.
Another thing I like about Twilight Princess is that it puts an actual emphasis on magic. Games like Botw or Skyward Sword represent magic as random energies than can occur at any convenient moment for the sake of looking cool and flashy, Twilight Princess on the other hand made magic feel like actual paranormal effects on the world, like when Blizzeta was corrupted by the mirror she didn’t transform by being enshrouded by dark auras or anything generic like that, she was actually twitching like an invisible force was taking over her mind

Isn’t magic just energy? Think about it, when goku shoots his energy blasts or when the flash runs, aren’t they just using magic? Sure, they call it different names but it’s still magic. A supernatural source outside of nature they can access for some reason. Magic like Timmy turner is mostly reality manipulation, or magic from a genie in a lamp is the same, maybe energy manipulation. Scientifically, science could just be a source of energy different from our world
Magic in current Zelda is intertwined with technology, it's more magitech than fairytale. Tears of the Kingdom was awesome, loved it, but I too would like a return to a more fairytale aesthetic for the next game. I enjoyed when Zelda was fantasy kitchen sink with it's magic variety, it wasn't just about gameplay like it is today
I love TP but it is painful to replay compared to ocarina unless you leave long enough breaks to forget everything because the dialogue and wolf stuff slows the pace to a snail’s pace
its my favorite for all the reasons everyone else says.. but to me it hits different because as a kid I could never beat the final dungeon, hyrule castle... and I recently was able to pick the game up again and, aside from loving the nostalgic throwback... I was so.. glad.. to finally breeze past the part I got stuck on and finally was able to beat this game from my childhood.. so fun. playing breath of the wild now
I feel the main reason why the twilight princess HD remaster sold so poorly was for two reasons, a lot of people had already played twilight princess and it was ported to a dying console at the end of its life cycle. I remember when it came out there were already rumors of the NX. I remember waiting for the inevitable port to that system... Infact I'm still waiting lol.
@@Carolina3489Panthers Okay to clarify what I'm trying to figure out is what aspect of this brought on amazement. Not trying to deny that it is warrented.
Twilight Princess is a masterpiece in my opinion, it's soooo good. The atmosphere, theme, and story. And I actually like the Zant twist. After we continually thwart his plans, his confident facade breaks down and we see him as the crazy person he really is.
Yeah, it was really nice seeing that the mighty villain who overthrew the kingdom of Hyrule was himself just a meek puppet to the Power that enabled him, and that we are almost single handedly going to stop Ganon anyway. This twist made Ganondorf look that much more powerful. It was one of the first games I played that made me feel really powerful, and that I can accomplish virtually anything, if I just keep pressing on.
I agree, I love the twist too. And for Ganondorf's motive, I think it's the same as when he was about to initiate his plan in Ocarina of Time, he was halted, but now he finally gets to enact it. Manley Reviews may have pointed out that a lot of the story was rushed and that some things were accidental or not fully fleshed out. Nonetheless: accidental or no it ended up being a cool tie-in with how Ocarina of Time's timeline paradox eventually created a really bad situation for Hyrule. It also enabled the player to see where the Hero of Time ended up. I just like those elements of continuity between games that aren't simply direct sequels.
@@dearthofdoohickeys4703 It's actually really good in this case. The whole game we see him as calm and confident. Like a real psychopath he is good at masking his real personality. Only after we thwart his plans and confront him do we see him break down and see him as the lunatic he really is. It's not bad writing, it's realistic
Fun fact: it took me 10 years to beat Twilight Princess. I first played it at a friend's house when I was 7. That friend moved away, but eventually my family got a wii. First chance I got, I bought the game and played it so much that it stopped working on the second to last level. Finally, years later during my final year of high school, I bought my own Wii because my family sold the old one just to finally finish the game. I beat it 30 minutes before New Years 2018. Twilight Princess will always be my favorite game.
It also took me several years to beat it. I was maybe about 15 or 16 when I finally beat it, and the only reason I didn't beat it was because I was stuck on the water temple and had to search up a guide on how to clear it.
I beat Twilight Princess 11 years ago and he's my favorite one, i am currently attempting to do it again, i actually beat it like 20 times and still enjoy it. Ik how to do the game at 100%, but it take me like 4 days to complete it now that ik every part and secret of the game ^^
This is seriously one of my favorite videos of all time. Not even for the content it just has the perfect blend of editing and entertainment. Great work
I *LOVED* Twilight Princess. It's hands down my favorite Zelda game. A combo of the art style, characters, story, music, and setting. Zant became one of my favorite Zelda games after I played Twilight Princess.
@@ManleyReviews I think judging off of story concepts it definitely does borrow quite a bit. I think the twilight concept added a layer of thought to be put in to the game and always found myself using wolf mode for puzzles and side quests. The items and dungeons were all phenomenal but I can see what your saying about some of the items being useless after with the exception of a few. Namely the spinner, bomb and arrow, and obviously double hook shot I found to be useful in many open world instances after collecting them in their respective dungeons.
@@ManleyReviews For some reason, its the most nostalgic for me, but it lacks interesting things happening in the moment to moment gameplay. It's more fun to remember TP than it is to play. Kind of like how I feel about grindy MMO's, where you remember all the good times with friends you had, not the hours spent killing boars.
@@ManleyReviews I heard the visuals where inspired by the lord of the rings which might explain some of its looks. I personally think it looks good its got a dark grungy feel and i love the fucked up characters and faces lmao zelda was never realistic so even if they look weird and off putting in a realistic zelda game i would piss and shit myself if they made everyone normal joe shmoes give me more of that chicken clown guy fuck yeah 😵💫
I think the biggest reason the Twilight Princess remake barely sold anything was because it was already on the wii. I bought the Wind Waker remake bc I never owned a gamecube, but the wii is one of the best selling consoles of all time and you could still find a couple used copies of tp around the time the hd remake came out.
I was thinking the same thing. Why did they remade Twilight Princess on the Wii U, even though you could play it on that console via backwards compatibility with the Wii?
@@ZeranZeran i still have my copy, i actually replayed it a few weeks ago bc i decided to replay the series, but I DID learn that I probably need some new wii controllers and nunchucks 😬 that's gonna be the hardest thing to replace 😭
@@traviscunningham7062 I guess they needed Wii U to have a game that made use of the HD that Wii didn't have, easiest option was to port and upscale the "realistic" Zelda.
I remember when my dad picked up this game in 2006 for the GameCube. I've played Twilight Princess pretty consistently for about ~17 years, and it is by far one of my most favorite games of all time. I grew up playing it, hijacking my dad's save slot for his stuff, asking him to beat the bosses that were too scary for me. This game was my childhood. It has an amazing sound-track, the GameCube graphics blend so well, I absolutely love it. I know nobody cares, but I'm glad this game exists
Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game. It was exactly what I wanted, A more realistic and bigger version of Ocarina of Time. I remember following the game's development since it's initial reveal like every week, hoping for more news and watching the same gameplay videos over and over. The E3 where they finally showed the first part of the complete game before it's release, was like Christmas. I even stayed overnight at my local Target to pick up a Wii and a copy of Twilight Princess. Good times.
I was in the exact same boat, except I camped out at Best Buy… And I was extremely disappointed with the game. I was also disappointed in Skyward Sword. I didn’t even want to pick up BoTW because I didn’t want to be disappointed again, but then my wife bought it for me for Christmas and my hope for the series was finally restored.
Damn so true. Hype for Twilight Princess was huge for me. The teasers were so epic. I had a uncle to import us from the US weeks after launch because GC wasnt very popular and were so expensive.
@@samgould8567 BotW was so disappointing for me. I play Zelda games for the puzzles and dungeons and it did NOT deliver lmao. Bored of the incessant shrines and repetitive koroks after less than an hour. Plus the armor is all pretty useless except for like 2 or three of the outfits. It’s not that helpful and super annoying to change all the time just to do one thing (which isn’t an upgrade from previous games, which it should be). Plus the characters were all pretty empty husks of anime tropes. I kept expecting more fleshed out story and relationships, but it was just Zelda “boohoo, I wanna fulfill my destiny and be validated as independent and intellectual wah”. Not saying other games didn’t suffer from similar story issues, but frankly, BotW didn’t do them any better and was even worse in some aspects. I was pretty unimpressed with Zelda in SS after how kickass she was in TP, and BotW was no different. Zelda bombed (not in a good way) imo as a character. And the world was WAY too empty, as someone who loves exploring open worlds, I was shocked at how monumentally empty the game was compared to its size. Just stopped trying to explore after a while because…what the heck was the point? Such a waste of time just trying to find dumb korok seeds or more rupees, when half the chests are filled with low-level equipment that won’t last long anyway. So disappointing. The art and music were nice though. And I did appreciate the horses. Always appreciate horses. That’s pretty much all I play that game for now tbh ;v;
Ganon is called the demon thief in A Link to the Past. That's also where we get that his name is actually Ganondorf until he became the pig demon thing. Zant, the twilight realm, transforming into animals, etc everything is being taken from A Link to the Past WAY more than Ocarina of Time. All the stuff you're confused by is because it's a recycling of that game.
Context is important. Games were becoming more *mature* and adult oriented in the early 2000's. After the realsitic Zelda tech demo, here comes Wind Waker with its cartoon graphics. It wasn't at all what people expected. Despite that, the game still sold well, considering the Gamecube wasn't a popular console.
I remember when it was released, I had the exact same thought process that he outlined in this video: It was a kid's game and a watered (heh) down version of a Zelda game. I still dislike the Toon Link aesthetic for similar reasons.
I was a kid when it was released and was not interested at all because of the graphics. I have since played it and it’s amazing. It was just the vibe of gaming around the time unfortunately
It’s my favorite design. Here’s how I’ll rank them: 1. Twilight Link 2. Wind Waker Link 3. Time Link 4. Sky Link 5. Wild Link I’m too lazy to do the others.
I would argue that the hyrule warriors link with the blue scarf and armor shoulder piece is just as good in fact it feels like an upgraded twilight princess Link.
Completely agree about the overworld and large side quest. I absolutely love Twilight Princess, but I think that's what kept it from being something special. Side activities like figuring out how to get Epona or getting the Biggoron Sword in Ocarina are the most memorable parts of the game to me, and Twilight is missing that. Wonderful video!!
Thanks. That's why majoras and OoT felt so special. The optional side content gave an immense gravity and depth to the world that grew legs for the story to stand on.
@Manley Reviews the wind waker was dope as well btw. The gamecube did shit and gamers were a lot different back then. If you showed a game with that art style now older teens would be open minded about it. Wind waker looks a lot better than than twilight.
Look, you wanna gaslight yourself into thinking this game was "flawed", babe while nothing is perfect... This game was. Yes, it was a retelling of OoT, a spiritual sequel to OoT, an unloading moment for all gamers everywhere.... But sugar it sure as heck was not inferior to any Zelda game. And DAT SOUNDTRACK. HOLY F**K. They never got there again, we are 2 entries in after TP, and they never reached those highs again. Yes, I like BoTW's minimalistic soundtrack, so don't come at me, but TP had an epic one and it still hits hard.
@Sam F.S. the game was very dated by the time it came out that was the only negative I had. The 360 had been out a year and the game looked last gen but gameplay wise it was amazing.
This video was a ride from start to finish. I don't think I've ever laughed so much at any other explanation of gaming history, or had one of my favorite games both praised and ripped apart so perfectly. So thank you for putting this together, I think?
I actually really enjoyed the Hidden Skills and think they are massively slept on, they make some of the more annoying fights so much easier (though it's not very obvious). I also did enjoy Ganon's presence in the game, and I think it had some of the best dungeons the series had to offer.
True. Even though you CAN beat a Darknut without the skills, it makes it so easy and honestly cool to look at. A helm splitter into a great spin or a back slice great spin.
@@brandoncastellano1858 Yep. I've seen a few people claim the hidden skills feel out of place and don't fit well with the game, but honestly, I think they couldn't be further from the truth. Darknut first phase: You can shield bash (though only seems to work after you attempt to attack him and he blocks with his shield), and follow up either with the general four sword (no pun intended :P) slash/thrust combo or helm splitter. Second phase: Backslice is actually golden here: Back slice which even though eh blocks it, it breaks his guard, followed by a general four sword slash/thrust combo. Doing this twice takes out the Darknut (though the Temple of Time Darknut for whatever reason always blocks the last slash/thrust of the four sword combo, so you will need to do it again). And this is just for the Darknut, you can use hidden skills on other more annoying enemies also.
Twilight princess is my absolute favorite game to be honest. I genuinely adore that game and I find Midna to be the best and most lovable companion. I just love this game so much and I’m so glad it exists.
I m glad there is a beginning of consensus now that Zelda twillight princess is the 🐐 of zelda games Oot fan back in the days They were so nostalgic they couldnt accept WW and TP were so much better than Oot so they trashed them Now they are old nostalgic nerd, new generation are able to appreciate gales for what they truly are Oot isnt even top 5 zelda games btw, very far from the BGE reputation fans gave it
I'm forever a Twilight Princess fan, not just because of Midna, but I really loved it as a whole. It will always have a place in my heart. Though I do know it's flawed and that is fine.
When Midna was dying due to the light, I couldn't stop mashing the run button. I was that engrossed in the moment. Fucking love this game. It has my favorite dungeon ever. The one with the yeti at the end of the skiing course.
That moment was so impactful I put myself through the masochistic torture of learning how to play Midna's Desperate Hour on the piano. I don't play it anymore because it gives me rapid onset tendonitis, and leaky eye syndrome.
There's a lot of references to magic, spiritual and also occult knowledge in Twilight, which is why it's one of my favourite's in this series, Zelda's always been in a fantasy realm overall, but in this one they seem to draw more upon those references to explain to those who know of these kinda things what has been happening, possibly in their own reality too as Nintendo and their own turmoil with darkness and light, as Art is always a reflection of ones inner feelings. They bring in the Earthly realms, the Nether realms and also Higher realms in this sequel, which is the first time they've incorporated another idea of the Trifecta that is the Tri-Force. Which can explain the random occurrence of Ganon/Ganondorf, that I see as actually quite relevant, to the overall story arc, as he can actually be likened to King Solomon, in what I can see are similarities between them. Which explains the label of a "Demon Thief" as Solomon was said to have been known to possess powers that could make Demons "obey" his commands, used artifacts or enchanted objects like jewellery and Sigils and Symbols for spell casting (which Zelda's always been a Symbolic kind of game) and the likes, he kinda uses Zant's for his own means, as Ganon was captured and held in the higher realms, but banished to the Lower realms where Zant resided and used his own Occult knowledge to work with Zant and Zant's Magical knowledge to plot his own return, as this is what primarily the Zelda's games are about underlining, the Tri-Force and the return of Ganon, (usually), each incarnation of Link shows that he and Link are pretty much destined to repeat the epic struggle of balance, as he is a counterpart and possibly, a necessity to the Tri-Force's power. In this one though, it seems they wanted to make it more focused on the struggle each of them have had to face, including Ganon, as he is more like a lost wondering soul in this one, more than a Villain in power. Which when you know of that kind of knowledge, it makes sense why they chose a more realistic look too and you can see how Nintendo incorporates knowledge about reality, magic and that into a fantasy based game, which is pretty neat. Sometimes i feel that Nintendo also take more of a break away to explain some more story depth about what Zelda, Ganon's and Link's incarnation represent each time, more than the gameplay itself, which makes TP one of the greatest in my play through of them, maybe lacking some gameplay as even I didn't know they were like "Okay man, now make it play on Wii" lol but Skyward Sword covered what TP missed for that time anyways, just thought i'd share that as when you know of it, you can see it quite clearly . . . Kinda like you've shifted realms ;) You def 120% Zelda ahah made me laff
@@Scatmanseth yeaa man & they get overtaken by the shadows energies for a shortwhile until Link restores the balance of light as well, which is a big topic in spirituality when it comes to ones own balance and self-development i think that's another reason it's so aesthetically pleasing on the eyes as a realistic Zelda as well, it's almost a dream-like and ethereal experience
Twilight Princess is without a doubt my favorite LoZ title. The atmosphere, characters, emotions, and music all come together for a beautifully dark story that leaves you crying at the end. Forever glad this game made it through all the turmoil.
Dude, this is my first video I’ve seen from you and I’ve already subbed. The writing, the delivery of your jokes, the editing and production, and all the funny references just land with me. Even if they never intended to make this game, I am so, so glad they did. This was my first zelda game as a child and the atmosphere had me fully hooked.
Wind Waker was my first Zelda game. Twilight Princess was my first favorite Zelda game. I still remember getting a gamecube from Gamecrazy inside the Hollywood video store.
It would've been my first Zelda game as a child, but the initial monster invasion freaked the fuck out of my toddler self and I didn't touch it again until I was 10 or 11
@@labeilleautiste6318 I hate BotW's combat because of that. It's so stiff - as soon as you swing you're rooted in place doing a jank 3 hit combo or whatever. The whole combat feels nerfed to accommodate the flimsy weapons and mostly useless powers of the slate.
@@phant0mdummy lolllll. Useless powers of the slate? Breakable weapons and the slate was literally the best addition to Zelda's gameplay in years. Dude, I liked twilight princess, favorite in the series. Loved the moves you could learn, all that. But guess what. Breath of the wild is WAYYY more complicated with way more depth and skill involved in it's combat. It's not remotely clunky. The slate is a complete game changer. It makes combat this intelligent dance. You have to plan things out, use the right weapons and manage all that, combine the slate with an item in the environment, use a giant piece of metal to smash them, so on. Like wtf. Its definitely the best combat in the series with the most depth.
@@bobdylan1968 sick opinions, and I have played the game for over 200 hours. So I know the game. Outside of the Great Plateau, there just aren't as many viable opportunities to use the powers. Stasis and Magnesis are fine. When do you use ice? When water is around, and it's never necessary. Everything they did was intentionally to push players away from using traditional melee, which would be great if it all weren't gimmicks. But anything you do with the slate and environment typically takes more time and effort to kill foes with. It's a fun gimmick but really, the majority of the slates toys are not that fun to use. Bombs and stasis are easily the most useful tools. Anything else is there for style points, and the game doesn't rank your combat on style. So unless you post gameplay to TikTok, nobody cares how much slate you used. I think the next game needs combat more resembling Hyrule Warriors. Fluid combos. Different combos and chains. Etc. Fun experiment, but weapons that shatter constantly to make way for lesser strategies, which the majority of the world design doesn't support... Not great. Plus master mode is not fun so much as it is miserable. So that could use work too. Having to constantly farm up weapons after a difficult fight is awful. Going to battle with a difficult enemy, like a Llionelle, is a net loss. You break 8 weapons and walk away with very little for the effort. I want Hyrule warriors combat mechanics to make it into the next game not 1:1, but enough to enhance the true Zelda combat. Trying to waggle a metal box around to smack a few bokoblins is just not fun combat. Rolling a tree down a hill and maybe taking half their health off is not worth the trouble to take twice as long to kill enemies. Using bombs to blast them into water for an easy kill is a neat gimmick, but boring.
Yo I'm here a year later, and that "I heard they were grooming children... oh I thought we were talking about youtubers...." aged LIKE A FINE WINE. Holy shit man was ahead of his time. Great review on this game btw! I'm a newer Zelda fan so I'm just binge watching stuff about the old games and lore
The amount of effort put in this video is insane. Searching out clips, the precise timing of some of those sharp edits, the effects. Love it. Enlightening and hella entertaining. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I can understand not liking the story telling, but having come from reading tons of books at the time I played, the story felt epic and tragic. Maybe that's because I was accustomed to non game story telling, but I still loved it
Even a decade after first playing it, Twilight Princess is still my favourite game of all time. It was one of the first ever games that I really remember liking a lot. I was around 6 or 7 when I played the game for the first time and since then it is always in the back of my mind. The dark atmosphere and the designs of the characters are impeccable, and Midna is still probably my favorite fictional character. Her character development and relationship with Link is absolute peak. I could talk about this game for hours!
my nostalgia for this game is so deeply intrinsic to me as a person. Even thinking about this game makes me want to cry over how much this game means to me.
I'm pretty sure you're misunderstanding the scene in which it looks like Princess Zelda dies. The way that scene is described in the game is that Zelda gave her "cherished power" to Midna - that is, the Triforce of Wisdom. Then, without the Triforce of Wisdom to protect her, Zelda is abducted by Ganondorf or Zant's forces, and is powerless to resist them until Midna returns the Triforce of Wisdom to her just before the final battle.
As a member of the 2000s loving Hot Topic shopping Alternative Heavy Metal teenager scene I've gotta say you 100% nailed it lmao this is one of My favorite Zelda games (2nd to Majora's Mask, ofc) Shoutout to you for being actually funny & atanding out as a genuine dude making videos about stuff he likes during the 'I'm rich n already famous & working with a corporation' age of 'broadcast yourself' TH-cam, this rocked
While I recently played BotW and think it's a masterpiece, Twilight Princess is my personnal favorite, I played it so much back in the days. I really loved the "kinda realistic" graphics, the fight against Ganon at the end was legendary, best ganon fight ever
I agree with of the points within the video, Twilight Princess does falter in many aspects that I wish it didn't. Also, since no one I can see mentions it; the Twilight Princess Manga Adaptation is really good. Definitely deserves a read.
@@stavrosbegetis2173 not really. With WW only the last stage of the fight was really cool. The whole puppet thing was meh. Ocarinas fight was frickin awesome though and is definitely up there with TP
@@-siranzalot- In general, OOT's boss fight is considered one of the most iconic final boss fights in video game history... (just talking about your wording, but I am tired and not goingeirghiuehtiuerhwtjfhis)
I loved the snow peak ruins dungeon. Walking around in their house, helping the yeti make soup, was such a cool theme for a dungeon. Really stood out for me as a kid for some reason.
Funny, it was my least favorite. I was a bit older when I played it, so maybe that's why the theme felt a bit off to me. You're not actually trying to help the Yetis make the soup IIRC, that just happens by accident as the wife keeps remembering incorrectly where the boss key is, so you stumble unto the ingredients. It felt like a pretty artificial way to unlock more of the level as you play. Not really getting an item, or changing the level to open a new path, but just the game telling you to complete a random path, then the wife going "Oopsie" and unlocking a different door. No reason why she couldn't unlock all doors after remembering it wrong twice, except then the level might get too short. And the boss fight comes right out of nowhere too. The mirror turns the wife into an evil monster, just so there can be a boss. This evil power of the mirror was never mentioned before, and never comes up again. Personally, I think it would have fitted a bit better in Wind Waker.
I definitely think Ganon has a place in this story. Your opinion that Midna is the main character of this game is spot on...she and Zant both exemplify different ways of reacting to the curse of the Twili. Ganondorf's power gave Midna and Zant the opportunity to showcase their personalities. Zant's greed left him completely vulnerable to Ganondorf's influence. As Link, you're there to help facilitate Midna's character arc from indifference to proactively defending the land that banished her people. God, I love this game too much 😂😂
Honestly, I love Twilight Princess. It was one of the first Zelda games I ever played but I can't help but feel a little bitter about it these days because I just LOVE Wind Waker way more. It frustrates me that there are so many people who have never given it a shot because of the way it looks. I have cousins and uncles who are big Zelda Fans but almost 20 years later they refuse to to touch Wind Waker because it's a "Children's Game."
Wind Waker has far superior items than Twilight, but IT IS Aonuma's fault he made WW look kiddy and I laughed that all his effort went to waste as many Zelda fans refuse to give WW a chance, Aonuma deserves it because he is not a worthy Zelda developer like Koizumi who made Majora the best Zelda game within only 1 year
@@chadliterutherford9198 People need to look past the cel shading. WW has a great story and is actually quite dark in parts. Stupid for people to make themselves miss out all because of how it looks. The only drawback to that game is all the sailing, even after learning the Ballad of Gales you still need to do a lot of sailing cos you can’t just warp straight to wherever you need to go, and one warp is only used for one thing and is not a fast travel point (mother and child isles). That’s more off putting than the cel shaded graphics, but it doesn’t take away from the story and gameplay
@@PBL187 It's not so simple to see past the cel shading, even I can enjoy the game despite the cartoony aesthetics but yet I still prefer Koizumi's art direction with Ocarina and Majora which was a nice balance of dark realism with bright colors
@@chadliterutherford9198 It should be easy to look past it enough to give the game a chance, unless of course those graphics are bad for your eyes, that’s the only exception
I didn't liked Wind Waker, but it wasn't because of the cel-shading look, it was because of the Sailing idea of traveling. I found it really slow and boring compared to traveling on foot or with the horse. I just could not get into it and I'm glad it didn't caught on.
It's also not at all unusual for Ganondorf to be the "real" villain, behind the secondary villain, like with Zant in the case of Twilight Princess. Plenty of Zelda games have done it. A Link to the Past had Agahnim, Oracle of Ages and Seasons had Veran and Onox, there's the Magician in Adventure of Link, etc.
Twilight Princess has a special place in my heart as it was the first Zelda game I played (on Wii). Such an amazing game. Twilight Princess is to me what OoT is for most people since I never had an N64 as a kid. I played the Gamecube version in an emulator because I wanted to replay with a normal controller but the entire game being mirror imaged felt very strange.
Hands down the best Zelda game - BY FAR. Best items, dungeons, story, everything. I can't stand designers being selfish with style choices. It's like a home designer designing someone else's home for themselves.
Twilight princess is hands down my favorite zelda game. The plot? Amazing. The enemy designs? Terrifying. Ganon's boss fight? Difficult as all hell, as it should be.
It's also my favorite but was Ganon's boss fight hard? I kind of remember the game turning to mush after killing Zant. The only thing that stands out in my mind is when big goblin boi comes to fight you in the courtyard of Hyrule castle.
I think we have very different ideas of difficulty here. Unless you played this game as a 6 year old, this was probably one of the easiest Zelda titles.
@@HRIgnomious BOTW is harder, especially if you don’t get as many heart containers and aren’t familiar with the food items, but which games are harder than twilight princess? OoT?
Twilight Princess is so "gritty and realistic" that Aonumas toy arrow turned into a real one at the moment of impact. What beautiful storytelling in one thumbnail Mr.Manley, bravo!
I'm one of those who loves this game. I never really thought much about ganons shoe in, but I have to say I enjoyed him being in the game anyways. I also just liked running around as wolf link, because I'm weird that way and just thought link turning into a fricking wolf was badass. Midnas Lament is also one of the most memorable Zelda songs I have to say.
@@jrpgplayer I love Twilight Princess, but Ganon was entirely shoehorned in, foreshadowing or not. He did not need to be there. The player, and Midna, had a real antagonistic relationship with Zant. He had genuine compelling motivations. He had had a visible impact on both Hyrule and the Twilight Realm, on Link and Midna personally. Ganon only has a relationship to the player if the player has previously played Zelda games and can say "LOOK AT THAT! I KNOW WHO THAT IS!" and gets to pat himself on the back for being such a rad gamin' dude. The end fight with Ganon, while excellent from a gameplay perspective, just felt so much less impactful because we hadn't spent the entire game building up an antagonistic relation with him as we had with Zant - or as we had with Ganon in Ocarina of Time and The Wind Waker.
BOTW is not far superior in many aspects. Sword combat is a regression, same for dungeons and the quality of the plot even if you compare it to it's predecessor SS (Skyward Sword). In BOTW the champions that are the main characters die off-screen and the main story is hidden in collectables instead of actual varied gameplay like other games in general, and i pretend it's a reboot of The Legend of Zelda because the lore doesn't make any sense, the scale of the sheikah in particular is a pandora box. At least the physics and the scope of the world are good, nice argument for game of the year award but Twilight Princess is still a more well rounded experience.
Twilight Princess is absolutely my favorite Zelda game, the dungeon were so difficult, the story, all the character were original, and the final fight was amazing
Twilight princes was among the most emotional games I’ve played, but the lack of quests in the open fields of hyrule makes it feel quite empty sometimes
I remember being 8-10 (I can’t remember when the wii remake came out) and sitting through the intro with my cousins, waiting for the “scary masked monkies” to come on and we’d scream and cry and then do it again. It took us weeks to eventually Google how to progress - the fact you need to catch several fish was so confusing for a bunch of 9 year olds who never played Zelda before.
Okami was that game I played when everyone was shitting on SS Seeing a game tackle a similar gameplay while polishing different aspects instead made me look at Zelda games in a very different way almost making me wish Zelda focused more on things like different weapon styles, areas and cultures
I've been thinking about this lately, did some scenario designer jump ship from Nintendo to Capcom or vice versa? Those two games were made at the same time, are based on the Zelda formula, and have you play as a wolf.
It was a WAY more mature game and I LOVED it sooooo much. It remains my favorite in the series and was the only one that has made me cry. A totally amazing game.
@@mattia1026 it is also more edgy, but it is more mature. It has some dark themes like poverty and suicide but mostly its the overall bleakness of the twilight that sets the tone. For a Zelda title it's practically a horror flick.
@@ActionBob It's much more edgy than it is mature. It was made for the fans craving that after all: a cool, adult Link and a game with the same vibe of the late 90's/early 00's. If you think TP is a horror flick then MM is sheer nightmare fuel distilled from the depths of the collective unconscious.
@@mattia1026 now your moving the goal posts and yes MM WAS nightmare fuel when I was a kid. I enjoyed TP because it was MORE mature than a typical Zelda by quite alot and it being edgy doesn't invalidate that.
@@ActionBob No, I'm not. The point is TP is not particularly mature even when compared with other games in the series, only particularly edgy. Not only it is obviously nowhere near MM, but it's also on par with OoT, which it was inspired by. The only thing more mature than either is the graphic style.
He forgot to mention the painful escort mission before the Water Temple where you gotta escort this Zora to the temple, and enemy horses will knock your escort off track with no return and ruin your life.
When I did it, I saw a piece of heart on a tree. I stopped defending and go to grab it. I thought I would lose but I was very far from it when I finished the escort ! LOL
I tried to beat it for 3 weeks in the GC version, but I just couldn’t do it. It made me rage quit for 5 months until I crawled back to it. I bought myself a wii copy, played again from the start to that point, got stuck again for 3 days but finally I DID IT!!!!🎉🎉🎉
that mission feels like "the big heist" and beyond how easy it is when you actually use the items available to you, it is one of the best escort missions i have done.
I thought having Ganon as source of all of this was a genius twist. Otherwise Zant would have felt like a random enemy out of nowhere, but this grounded his power in the greater narrative.
Twilight princess reminds me of the feeling of playing OOT for the first time. I remember losing sleep when my friends and I slowly realized who the Hero’s Shade was. Playing OOT as a kid was magical Playing TP as an adult was also magical but hurts me right in the childhood
I played Oot as a little kid and played TP as an older kid and they were both profound, TP is so dark and adult themed I way preferred it’s style to the cartoony GBA, DS games
@@SeanLives Played TP as a young adult and got stuck on the sky temple. Came bacc to it again in 2018 and said F it, I will beat it this time. Made sure to stream it so I can always go back and watch/relive my progress.
Twilight Princess means a lot to me, and it’s position as my favorite video game of all time stands because of how comforting and amazing it is both replaying it and in memory (for me). It’s the game in the franchise that shines so brightly in my eyes, that I don’t think I’ll ever let it go.
That Ganon manipulated Zant from the start is something I actually like about the plot. Makes his character even more tragic and for all his badassery early in the game he's quite pathetic. Now unredeemable as a servant to the devil. Easily the most compelling henchman in the series.
I think Zant is a pretty tragic figure. I think there was a time when he really wanted to help his people and saw Midna for the spoiled brat that she certainly was at the time (she matured over the course of the game through her experiences) and when he was passed over as the ruler, he felt as if the last chance for his people to return to their rightful home had passed. Ganondorf just used him for his own purposes of course.
Is even crazier because you didn’t even know ganondolf was in the game until you meet the sages and that when everything made sense what happened after ocarina of time
The most underrated part about twilight princess is the fact that it has brought some of, if not arguably the most interesting lore inside of the entire series. How was the snowpeak mansion frozen over? What is Stalord? How is the triforce moved between Midna and Zelda? It's all so interesting to look at
I always felt TP was a nice conclusion to the story arc Ocarina started. While Wind Waker did a great job establishing a new world where Ocarina's events had faded into legend, TP did a great job having narrative similarity to Ocarina, remastering its setting and design and reminding you of past deeds of the hero of time. The final defeat of Ganon after he was sealed away for so long. It felt epic, and climactic, and like the stakes were far higher. At the same time its time shift / asymmetric gameplay mechanic of link / wolf link brought more variety to gameplay than Ocarina's young link / adult link mechanic that, while narratively interesting, mostly just changed your gear limitations and setting more than anything else.
I have no idea why people call TP's artstyle "realistic", it's just realistic compared to windwaker before it. It's a very unique artstyle and still easily beats most games coming out today unlike oot
It looks more realistic compared to not only Wind Waker but Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild which also have some of that cel shading that make them look more cartoony than TP.
23:21 thank you. Finally someone else that praises and loves the lakebed temple. Man i loved that one. ominous music, great atmosphere, and no bullshit like the OoT water temple
Maybe it's because i was younger, but both times i played TP i got stuck in that temple for hours and had to look up a guide, so i ended up hating that temple
Dude your vids are the shit. Pure comedy goodness encapsulated in a really informative and interesting video. Keep it up. I'm always looking forward to every upload you make. 😁✌️
Twilight princess give me the feels like no other game in the series. The end of Skyward sword kinda forced them on me with fi’s song, but the ark that Midna goes through gives me as much feels as Undertale. I spent hundreds of hours replaying the game just for the story alone. I also came across it at a very vulnerable part of my life as a kid and it helped me get through it. This is my favorite game in the series because the people I meet are so kind and I want to be in that world and live with these people. I felt like I was there in that game every step of the way.
Both Twilight Princess and Wind Waker are INCREDIBLE games that were misunderstood during their times. Edit: I just re-played Wind Waker on GC. Bruh, it was tough. It did NOT hold up. Sure, it was fun most of the time, but the Tri-Force quest and the slow water travel made this game nearly unbearable.
The problem with Ocarina Time that *most* later Zelda games fixes is that it has a lot of “how do we progress through this dungeon?” moments that require genuinely good ideas like lowering water level, blowing shit up, and warping existence. Yet so many times the way you do that is a pressure sensitive switch. An interesting premise doesn’t make up for lame execution. Pushing switches can only be so stimulating.
Yeah this might be blasphemous but i find most Zelda dungeons a slog. Even though i like cool new abilities, genuinely clever puzzles and obstacles/gauntlets the dungeons never really gave me that. Might be why i prefer the more overworld explorative Zeldas like WW and Botw. With little (sometimes big) challenge rooms. Seeing all the regions/DBs from afar and going to them uninterrupted is also just awesome.
Twilight Princess is genuinely my favorite Zelda game. The music is amazing. The plot is interesting. The puzzles were cool and the boss fights were intense. And the game didn’t look cartoony. And, naturally, I was 10-12 ish and Midna existed. I’ll admit. Hot damn. I’m 24 now and it’s still my favorite. Even found out it had a manga and currently reading it. Zant was awesome until he had his little breakdown. I loved his fight since it was basically reliving each battle up to that point and using the very gimmicks from those bosses to fight like a final exam. But overall, yeah. This game is amazing and it kind of puzzled me why some don’t like it as much.
The only consistent thing I hear is: Long intro with wolf forms. And I was like: "Fair." But wolf form, to me, is like detective mode with the wolf sense. Getting that heart or ruppees when you're broke, (In master mode on the HD version that's important anyhow because milk or potions are the only way you can heal outside of hot springs,) mean that scorunging every cent counts.
I'm on the fourth one and the manga is gorgeous! I can't tell you how many times I've said "wow" out loud when looking at some of the art. It's a lot darker than the game in some parts and so far I'm enjoying the extra story.
@@Blonde_Uchiha the manga is not written by the same people who did the games, so they're just trying to stay faithful to the game story as to avoid pissing the fans of the game, instead of rewritting it entirely. Still, i'd disagree with the ''zant goes nuts without any build up'' part.
I love how they go from doing whatever nonsense they want, bleeding money, giving the fans what they actually want, getting tons of success, then immediately going back to doing whatever they want and bleeding money again
Imo Twilight Princess is the best Zelda game. It has wonderful and memorable characters and a heartwarming amazing story. The locations are varied and beautiful, the dungeons are creative and unique. Of course there are many fair criticisms of the game, but I’ve replayed TP many times and carrying a dying midna through hyrule field hits my feels every time
Twilight Princess was my childhood Zelda game. It’s such a beautiful, sophisticated work of art. It’s definitely the game that turned me into the quality snob I am now.
It’s insane to me really, to see how TP was going to make or break this iconic franchise. I was 9 years old when my brother bought this game at launch. The first Zelda game I ever played. My favorite Zelda installment of all time. While it does have its hiccups it’s truly a masterpiece. Im so glad the devs decided to go through with it’s release, we wouldn’t have the same Zelda franchise we know and love today
@@mariobenedicto3582 this! I felt like twilight princess was the first Zelda game that actually made it believable that all the other games take place in the same world at different points in time.

I personally loved everything about twilight princess, it's not often I don't find fault with a game either gameplay, visuals or story but for me I can't say I found one, it was everything I wanted at the time.
Personally, I think Zant being the main villain would have been a detrament to the story. He is menacing, powerful, and intimidating - at the beginning. As the story goes on he begins to crack, losing his grip on the status he thought he had, until eventually we truly see him for what he is: a jealous, desperate, pathetic man who's thirst for power was ultimately his demise - an admonition that the lake hylia goddess had previously warned Link against. I think the ending is a great testiment to him as well. After defeating Ganon, yes it was our sword that downed him, but Zant delivered the final blow. With their minds still connect by Ganon's power, Zant could see that he was only a puppet to Ganon's inclings. And so, in perhaps an act of revenge, Zant is the one to finish Ganon. A lot of my opinions derive from Internet Pitstop's Twilight Princess video. He does a great job describing the story and impact of the characters. Would highly suggest it if you wish to check it out.

Considering how lackluster and boring the overworld was, I'd say you're absolutely right about that.

Love Greller's work.
I would not say that Ocarina is a simple hero's tale. That's like saying Inception is a movie about falling asleep. 😂
It is all about growing up.

Games like Botw or Skyward Sword represent magic as random energies than can occur at any convenient moment for the sake of looking cool and flashy,
Twilight Princess on the other hand made magic feel like actual paranormal effects on the world, like when Blizzeta was corrupted by the mirror she didn’t transform by being enshrouded by dark auras or anything generic like that, she was actually twitching like an invisible force was taking over her mind

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Mark 1.15
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

That console was never alive :D

I just don’t like the bloat I hate picking up those tear shards as wolf link
The Zant twist is objectively terrible. Having a character do a 180 with *zero* setup or foreshadowing is, not subversion, but _bad writing_ .
Really? I found it to lack style quite a bit comparing it to the games that came before and after it. Although I do like some of the design choices

I was thinking the same thing. Why did they remade Twilight Princess on the Wii U, even though you could play it on that console via backwards compatibility with the Wii?
Wii U also sold like complete shit too, so it's not like there was a big playerbase there to begin with.

GameCube version master race checking in
Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game.
Yeah it’s like Ocarina of Time but with the story from A Link To The Past (with some differences)
@@samgould8567 BotW was so disappointing for me. I play Zelda games for the puzzles and dungeons and it did NOT deliver lmao. Bored of the incessant shrines and repetitive koroks after less than an hour. Plus the armor is all pretty useless except for like 2 or three of the outfits. It’s not that helpful and super annoying to change all the time just to do one thing (which isn’t an upgrade from previous games, which it should be). Plus the characters were all pretty empty husks of anime tropes. I kept expecting more fleshed out story and relationships, but it was just Zelda “boohoo, I wanna fulfill my destiny and be validated as independent and intellectual wah”. Not saying other games didn’t suffer from similar story issues, but frankly, BotW didn’t do them any better and was even worse in some aspects. I was pretty unimpressed with Zelda in SS after how kickass she was in TP, and BotW was no different. Zelda bombed (not in a good way) imo as a character. And the world was WAY too empty, as someone who loves exploring open worlds, I was shocked at how monumentally empty the game was compared to its size. Just stopped trying to explore after a while because…what the heck was the point? Such a waste of time just trying to find dumb korok seeds or more rupees, when half the chests are filled with low-level equipment that won’t last long anyway. So disappointing. The art and music were nice though. And I did appreciate the horses. Always appreciate horses. That’s pretty much all I play that game for now tbh ;v;

Yo david! The master shredder is here!
ocarina of time for the n64 was also open world and had a day night cycle
@@flintfrommother3gaming I truly don't get how people think that. Look at most games from 2006. They don't even look that great either.
I still don't get why so many people hated Wind Waker. I thought it was amazing.
Twighlight Princess has probably one of, if not, the the best design for Link in the entire franchise.

1. Twilight Link
2. Wind Waker Link
3. Time Link
4. Sky Link
5. Wild Link
I’m too lazy to do the others.
I would argue that the hyrule warriors link with the blue scarf and armor shoulder piece is just as good in fact it feels like an upgraded twilight princess Link.
I still think his actual in-game design was a downgrade from the official art as shown in the thumbnail
Man I tear up everytime I see that Twilight Princess reveal. One of my favorite gaming moments in history.
@@ManleyReviews very true. I was hyped for years waiting for TP to release and when it did, I liked it. But I never really loved it.
@Manley Reviews the wind waker was dope as well btw. The gamecube did shit and gamers were a lot different back then. If you showed a game with that art style now older teens would be open minded about it. Wind waker looks a lot better than than twilight.

The thing that ruined that moment was the combat music getting in the way
the dungeons in twilight princess were so unique and interesting, especially snowpeak ruins and city in the sky
They bring in the Earthly realms, the Nether realms and also Higher realms in this sequel, which is the first time they've incorporated another idea of the Trifecta that is
the Tri-Force.
Sometimes i feel that Nintendo also take more of a break away to explain some more story depth about what Zelda, Ganon's and Link's incarnation represent each time, more than the gameplay itself, which makes TP one of the greatest in my play through of them, maybe lacking some gameplay as even I didn't know they were like "Okay man, now make it play on Wii" lol but Skyward Sword covered what TP missed for that time
anyways, just thought i'd share that as when you know of it, you can see it quite clearly . . . Kinda like you've shifted realms ;)
You def 120% Zelda ahah made me laff
Hmm
More occult? Guess that explains why some of the characters from it look demonically possessed
An interesting interpretation... 🤔

That was actually originally supposed to be in OoT but was cut during development.

Nice to see a Genshin fan being so fondly about Zelda.
She's already kidnapped when you meet her, though

I LOVE the mix o realism with the crazy character designs, It feels like a Tim Burton movie, which totally fit this game IMO.
While I recently played BotW and think it's a masterpiece, Twilight Princess is my personnal favorite, I played it so much back in the days. I really loved the "kinda realistic" graphics, the fight against Ganon at the end was legendary, best ganon fight ever
that sequence that nobody stopped during when midna was ill was so spot on lmaoo the sense of urgency was insane as a kid back then
I played it as an adult and legit wanted to cry.
I agree with of the points within the video, Twilight Princess does falter in many aspects that I wish it didn't. Also, since no one I can see mentions it; the Twilight Princess Manga Adaptation is really good. Definitely deserves a read.
I really enjoyed the LttP and OoT mangas, so I can't believe that I haven't read it.
That Twilight Princess reveal was absolutely insane. Still getting goosebumps twenty years later. ❤
one of the top 10 moments in gaming history
To be fair, TP probably has the best or second best final battle in the whole franchise at the moment. It was pretty epic.
the boss fight was arguably the dopest fight in the series.
@@ManleyReviewsocarina and wind wakers Final battles were better
@@stavrosbegetis2173 not really. With WW only the last stage of the fight was really cool. The whole puppet thing was meh. Ocarinas fight was frickin awesome though and is definitely up there with TP
@@-siranzalot- In general, OOT's boss fight is considered one of the most iconic final boss fights in video game history... (just talking about your wording, but I am tired and not goingeirghiuehtiuerhwtjfhis)
OoT was insane. TP is definitely up there though
A Link to the Past had Agahnim, Oracle of Ages and Seasons had Veran and Onox, there's the Magician in Adventure of Link, etc.
theres also ganon in wind waker. whoda thunk that he was actually ganonDORF the whole time
@@tardigreattv I didn't get to beat any of those games yet ;-; spoilers

@@indieramus it was easy
Facts. Ganondorf in this game was one of the scariest we've had in the series
The end fight with Ganon, while excellent from a gameplay perspective, just felt so much less impactful because we hadn't spent the entire game building up an antagonistic relation with him as we had with Zant - or as we had with Ganon in Ocarina of Time and The Wind Waker.
so happy i found your channel. havent felt this excited about a new channel in at least 4 years.
This is my favorite Zelda game, even to this day, when BotW is far superior in many aspects, Twilight Princess has a special spot in my heart.

Twilight Princess is absolutely my favorite Zelda game, the dungeon were so difficult, the story, all the character were original, and the final fight was amazing
facts best dungeons and story in the series
Twilight princes was among the most emotional games I’ve played, but the lack of quests in the open fields of hyrule makes it feel quite empty sometimes
I remember being 8-10 (I can’t remember when the wii remake came out) and sitting through the intro with my cousins, waiting for the “scary masked monkies” to come on and we’d scream and cry and then do it again. It took us weeks to eventually Google how to progress - the fact you need to catch several fish was so confusing for a bunch of 9 year olds who never played Zelda before.
My favorite remaster of Twilight Princess was Okami.
Yep. All True
Okami was that game I played when everyone was shitting on SS
Seeing a game tackle a similar gameplay while polishing different aspects instead made me look at Zelda games in a very different way almost making me wish Zelda focused more on things like different weapon styles, areas and cultures
I've been thinking about this lately, did some scenario designer jump ship from Nintendo to Capcom or vice versa? Those two games were made at the same time, are based on the Zelda formula, and have you play as a wolf.
Change remaster with sequel. Link's Crossbow Training never happened (thanks Miyamoto).
@@Vmac1394 I played Twilight Princess for the -Twilight Princess (Midna)- , i'm not a furry.
It was a WAY more mature game and I LOVED it sooooo much. It remains my favorite in the series and was the only one that has made me cry. A totally amazing game.
It's more edgy, not more mature. Big difference. Majora's Mask is much more mature.
LOL
I liked those missions!
Playing OOT as a kid was magical
Playing TP as an adult was also magical but hurts me right in the childhood
Ikr. Its still very stylized and looks like a painting as opposed to the more cartoony style of the previous games.
It's closer to dark fantasy, no ?
It looks more realistic compared to not only Wind Waker but Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild which also have some of that cel shading that make them look more cartoony than TP.
@@wtcvidman Skyward Sword doesn't have cel shading only Botw does
@@cashwin45 Yes it does. It's more subtle than Wind Waker or BotW but it does have it.

@@DanielMazahrehtwilight is amazing, wind waker is boring
It was my first zelda game as a kid, and I still remember how my parents got me the official guide one day I was sick. I remember it very fondly.
I'm 26 now and....Midna still exists.....
@@shadoukingu3730 indeed she does. Actually got this really cool poster of Midna from an convention last year.
The funny thing is that the writers did run up against a deadline. It only took them 16 years to finish it with a manga series.
I'm on the fourth one and the manga is gorgeous! I can't tell you how many times I've said "wow" out loud when looking at some of the art. It's a lot darker than the game in some parts and so far I'm enjoying the extra story.
