I have the TK850 and love the BenQ line of projectors. Their throw ratios worked great for my setup since I could place the projector behind a soffit and make a clean installation. 145” screen with the projector about 13ft away. As you stated, they are great entry level projectors! Weird to say a couple grand for a projector is entry but we all know how expensive this hobby can get. I’ll be looking for my next step up soon, so keep up the projector reviews!
Proud owner of the W2700/HT3550. Got it in Jan 2021 and still running strong!
Nice
I've had the ht3550 and still love it. I'll eventually upgrade to the 4550 or the Sony 5000. But for now I'm pretty happy. I just got my back for sending it in for repairs...which cost me only $150. I just had new color wheel installed and had the firmware updated and projector cleaned. I also bought a new bulb (which I do once a year). Picture looks even better that when I first got it, truly amazing.
Where do you send it?
@@satii24 back to the manufacturer. They did a great job.
Just got the W4000i for right above 2000$ on Black Friday. Pretty excited about it. I'm upgrading from a 1080p W1070 which served me very well for many years, so I expect the quality bump to be substantial! I'm also happy to move on from bulbs over to LEDs.
On my W1070 I had to change the bulb every year and a half on average and at least a 1/3 of the bulb life came with slightly decreased luminosity.
That said, before I found this offer I was ready to pull the trigger on the TK860 which I think is an amazing projector 95% of people will be super happy with.
The Infocus X1 was my very first projector. Broke down very quickly. Then I switched to the BenQ W500, followed by the W1100 and finally the W7500. BenQ projectors are super reliable. The W7500 is a great projector and friends who came to watch movies on it thought that it was a 4k projector as the pictures were so detailed. It's still running strong but I'm very tempted to upgrade to the W4000i.
Late to the party here but for 100" light controlled basement I picked up the 3560 10 days ago and its pretty good. I do movies at night and also mixed sometimes with dim lights. I have the 5050ub coming to see if I am missing put on blacks. At this point wouls it be bettwr to go with the 5050UB or benq 4550i? I dont have the budget for jvc or sony. Thanks anyone it would be a great help? Spare Change as always great job and thanks!
How does the 4550 compare to the Epson LS12000 or Sony 5000es?
Can you compare the HT4000i with your NZ8?
Why did you decide to compare the HT4550 to the TK860i and not it's cheaper counterpart the HT3560 Which is much better for HDR and movie watching in general?? That would have been a much better comparison as both are for home theatres while the TK series is more for bright rooms with ambient light
Thanks for the review.
4550i - will it shoot 180 16:9 without any issues - moderately light controlled room
And you guys say Shane doesn't review budget gear. BENQ makes some fantastic budget projectors❤❤🔥🔥
I have 2. Great working units
I mean they are good but I've had two fail on me and one caught fire well turned off BenQ tk700 great projector but terrible quality control on it
@@SirQuacksalotthe1st Hmmmm. Do you recommend it for 1000€ or the Viewsonic px701 4K for the same price? Tk700 was more interesting for me,but now you're saying this Is have doubts.
@@muharremuzel6106 I'm pretty sure I just had terrible luck both are great projectors and BenQ has great colors tho if anything goes wrong you have to send it to them for RMA and three in Asia so what should of taken a few minutes of chatting was a hole week instead was great for gaming I'd personally say go with your gut
@@muharremuzel6106 I did respond but TH-cam decided not to allow it great 😃
First for the price to performance you can't beat it it's colors are good and it super responsive for gaming with 240hz at 4ms lag at 1080p it's perfect for competitive play with a controller
Mine did indeed catch fire and my second one blew a hdmi port and damaged my av receiver because of that how ever that was a RMA unit aka went in for repair and was sent out once they believed they had repaired it they didn't they fd me over massively
And there responses took a week to even send it in for a RMA would I recommend you by one ? Honestly yes but at the same time make sure you get a good warranty and make sure the company you by for replaces the unit if anything goes wrong as for the other one you said about they make good stuff and there decent but for the price the tk700 has no rival's in the price to performance battle you want to see what I've experienced check my channel as I made my RMA videos public showing what happened and I now own a Benq w2710i and no longer need to worry about rma
Is the bulb on the 4550 replaceable when it finally dies after 20,000 hours? Or you have to throw the whole unit away and buy another projector?
It'll start to dim at 20k hours not completely die.
Yea but once it starts dimming can the light source be replaced like a lamp projector?
Great Video, Shane! If you don’t mind, how would you compare the 4550 to the Epson LS10000 overall and specifically with perceived brightness? One of those will be my upgrade from the HT3550 soon. Keep up the good work!
@jamiljoyner7785 there is another content creator that did a review of the 4550 and the LS11000. He did actual measurements. It was a really good breakdown. You should check it out.
@@percybedford6266 How does "another content creator " help?! Just name it.
It is evident that the new W4000 gives a better image with its 0.65 DMD chip, but the problem it has for me is the reduced projection distance (throw ratio), unlike the LG, JVC and SONY that you can place in the back of the projection room. It's not for me.
Great comparison...
I'm debating between the 40 550i and 6040/5040Ub.
I'm all about blacks and 3D.
Not a gamer and watch way more 3D.
What do you think?
Better if you consider Epson 5050ub or 6050ub
@@jovidec6274BenQ is better, or Epson is better?
Eh. I have a BenQ monitor and while the picture quality is very good, it absolutely does not like uncommon video frequencies. It loves 60Hz or 59.94Hz, but 59.19hz, 59.92Hz, 60.1Hz and the like may cause it to blank out for a few seconds every now and then. So not good for videogames.
Any rainbow effects on benq 4550i?
Depends on how sensitive you are to it.
@@therealshanelee thanks
@@therealshanelee There are ..No rainbow effects on their ..ht4550i..It has ..No color wheel, nor lamp..4 led's..I just bought it, a great projector
Does 4000i support a 200inch screen
Depends on your screen gain and the size of your room. But it'll work.
I know this projectors have optical zoom so using that option can we enlarge the image size from 150 to 180inch will that affect the image quality ( i mean optical zoom not digital) can u plssss give a clarification on that
At 17:06, is this a rainbow effect and "in reality" does it look as bad as on TH-cam?
I'm not sure about that as well but it could be the projector displaying 3D mode as Shane was speaking about 3D at the time.
Yo Shane😊
Oppenheimer review soon? Was actually undwhelmed with the IMAX experience
Some day 10 years from now, projectors will be 10000 likens for $10000. A dollar a lumen is great…until then my eyes will never be satisfied and have to settle for an 85 inch oled (sigh) 😅
I can tell in your voice you are not interested in these models.
