- Guitar cover/play through of Dark Stone by Holy Fawn from the album "Death Spells".
Sorry no tabs - learned by ear and also added some subtle improv during the verses. Leave a comment if you're a guitar player and are having trouble figuring out any of the sections :)
This album is truly a groundbreaking release, if you’re a guitar player I definitely recommend learning the notes behind these tracks :)
Thanks for watching!

My brothers the guitarist in Holy Fawn, damn near flawless
Oh wow! I had the pleasure of shaking that man’s hand when they were in San Diego 2 months ago. I absolutely love his writing. Thank you for the comment, it’s an honor to have done it justice!
oh man, awesome work, must have listened to this track 100+ times since release, unrivalled
Same experience my dude!
Wonderful track, thank you for watching!
Brilliant cover! Holy Fawn is such an amazing band, and from my home state of AZ. 🖤🖤🖤
So sweet! I wanted to drive out from California to see them play a home town show when they were touring with deafheaven but didn’t get around to it. I love their songwriting. Thanks for watching 🍻
@@Corykurk My pleasure! And, Distressor is so incredible! I have to buy that one very soon. Your band is so talented!🖤❤
@@midnightvega1971 Aw thank you! I can’t wait until our album is out. It’s almost done, I think you’ll really enjoy our new tracks :)
@@Corykurk I just picked up your entire discography on Bandcamp. Very impressive!!! I look forward to new music!
@@midnightvega1971 omg wow thank you so so much!! It’s truly appreciated. Our album will be out next month on February 17th :)
DUDE, you nailed it ! Great job at matching these hauntingly beautiful tones.
Thank you!! This album is so under appreciated. Was a pleasure diving in and trying to mimic everything I could
dude you’re a master of tones man
Hahaha thanks dude 😝
Cory Kurkierewicz are you gonna cover any of the new Whirr record?
I’d like to :) gonna spin it a few more times and see which ones are doable!!
Cory Kurkierewicz the album is on bandcamp for $5 but idk... the production on this album was sorta weird I guess... maybe it’s just me but the songs are amazing and include songs I now consider my favorite Whirr songs!!
Ross Meyer yea I def dig a lot of them. Others I’m not so crazy about. I’m glad they didn’t just do a sway2.0 and tried something new instead. I think after a couple more listens it will really grow on me :)
Jesus Christ this good!
Yo thanks!!
Inspiring 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for watching!
Flawless man. Nailed the tone.
Thanks for the words dude 🖤 this song hits harddd
Loud !!!
Nice job!!!
Thanks dude!!! Love this track
Que música, senhores!
Obrigado!!
Dude, perfect cover!
May I ask how you got these tones? Especially that deafening Intro chord. It’s so close to the album
Hey man! Thanks for watching.
So I used the fuzz on a keeley darkside and then I double tracked all the rhythm chords and just panned them hard left and hard right. The track playing underneath is also probably helping to beef it tf up as well!
Tracked with just an sm57 through a hot rod deluxe III
@@Corykurk thank you for the reply! Insane to get such a massive tone from a pedal.
But as far as I know, the Dark Side Fuzz I based on an Op-Amp big muff, so I‘ll tinker around a bit at home with some fuzzes I have lying around
Forsure dude! I’m not totally in love with the dark side fuzz especially when playing with a full band as it doesn’t seem to cut through the mix very well but for tracking at home I think it’s great!
Would there be any difference in equipment for tone for a humbucker?
Nice tone BUT how did you get that fully washed out trem picked tone? I'm finding it hard getting a washy sound without lots of gain to obscure the pick attack
I used an xotic compressor with a good amount of reverb and I’m very lightly trem picking instead of killing the string. It’s a weird feeling cause the string almost wants to take the pick out of your hand if you’re not forcing the trem picking as much but you can find a soft balance if you let back some force.. if that makes any sense lol also use the middle switch or neck pickup on your guitar so it’s not as treble-y and brittle.
Thanks dude. I think my problem is I'm used to picking hard as fuck. What kind of levels were you using on delay and reverb? Super washed out or more of an even blend and letting the light picking carry out the bulk of the sound? Multiple delays as well?
@@tarkenton3895 kinda late reply but if you have a reverb with a mix knob, you can turn it up and obscure the attack a little
what tuning are you playing in?
Drop B my dude :)
Cory Kurkierewicz appreciate it majorly. Is is an open tuning as in B-F#-B-E-F#-B or just a regular drop B?
I’m playing it in regular drop B :) B-F♯-B-E-G♯-C♯
Nice
Thanks for watchin!
brooo what's the chord for the tremolo part???? I've been trying to figure it out and I just can't get it.
What’s the time stamp?
@@Corykurk4.20
amazing cover man. shame there's no tab because the verse chords get a little muddled in all the 'gaze but great job nonetheless.
Thanks dude!!
I can try and write them out for you! It’s super straight forward with some string skipping. I’m pretty sure they play it a little differently live though
Amazing!!!!🖤🖤🖤whats the tunning please 💪
Thanks for watching! This song truly is amazing. Drop B is the tuning
@@Corykurk thanks a lot man !!! 👽🖤
You got it! Have fun jammin to it 🤘🏼check my cover of Arrows I just uploaded!
Jeez dude how're you getting this tone haha
Recording two tracks panned left and right a bit with a keeley dark side fuzz! Also having the track playing underneath I think is beefing it up a bit as well. Using a hot rod deluxe III through an sm57..live recording > direct input imo
which gauge did you use bro?
I usually am using 11-52’s.
Which jazzmaster is this?
What tuning is this
Drop B
@@Corykurk do you think they use drop b on their other albums realms and dimensional bleed?
@@natetischer8664 perhaps! I haven’t sat down with those songs yet and tried to figure them out. Likely a combo of drop B, half step down, and some open tunings.
