    We lived in Hanover Park in the Cook County section. Our children went to Schaumburg schools. It was a less expensive alternative to getting our kids into Schaumburg schools.

      All the above are peaceful affordable places Frankfort has one of the best school districts in Illinois. Palos heights and Palos park are also nice places don’t know much about the schools though.. Floosmoor has a good school district along with Olympia fields but Olympia fields is pricey. But over all a good place to raise kids. So is Orland Park and Tinley Park. I’m not sure where this moderator is getting her info but she’s leaving out a lot of places. Like I said statistics are opinions wrapped up in paper that is regurgitated by the person giving the information.

      @@StuckInTheKernfield the only reason I mentioned all those suburbs was I was just curious what people thought of them.. I'm from Palos and they have great schools they're a little high-priced but the towns are beautiful and there's hardly nothing as far as crime rate.. that's all I was doing curious of what you thought of those suburbs no big deal

    Do you know that you listed the stats for Grayslake in St. Charles?
    I have an aunt still living in St. Charles.
    I was born one town south there in Geneva, IL, and raised one town south of there in Batavia. The Tri-Cities area consists of Batavia, Geneva, and St. Charles. Any of these towns of the Tri-Cities are great to live in, and have a rivalry in high school sports.

Now I live an hour drive from New Orleans in Lousisana and spent most of my adult life here. I still love visiting my aunt and uncle in geneva though, it's an awesome little town. I want to move somewhere in the surrounding Chicago area soon.

    Warrenville has a slightly elevated poverty rate because of all the public housing that was deemed by the county seat of Dupage. It's actually sad...before moving to Schaumburg we were going to relocate to Warrenville. Passing through Warrenville it's all greenland and forest preserves. They have nooks and crannies of subsidized housing. For a small village that normally shouldn't be allowed. You have to thank Wheaton for making Warrenville have issues. Surprisingly they have an extremely low crime rate. I'm glad Warrenville is keeping that under control. Thank you for giving Warrenville some slack. All in all it deserves some recognition.

    • @StuckInTheKernfield
      @StuckInTheKernfield  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching! I put Warrenville on the list, because I felt like the positives outweigh the negatives. As you mentioned, there isn't much crime. Even the poverty rate, which may be more noticeable in a community this size, is actually below the state and national averages, so it's considerably better than a lot of the communities in IL. Their stats are better than that of my hometown.

    • @CrystalClearWith8BE

      The county seat of DuPage County, IL is Wheaton, IL while it's largest city is Naperville, IL.

    I am surprised that none of the Northshore suburbs made it - from Evanston up to Lake Bluff are all really friendly and safe areas to live. I rented in Evanston for years and finally bought a home in Highland Park and never worry about anything. Yes, the taxes are slightly higher than average, but the schools are pretty darn good. Also, being a Northshore resident, you get to enjoy the Lakefront that's only accessible to residents of that actual town. Which is great because you don't have the crowds of the Chicago beaches.

    • @StuckInTheKernfield
      @StuckInTheKernfield  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It was the housing costs that kept most of the towns off the list. The average price in Lake Bluff is three times higher than the IL average, and Evanston's is twice the IL average. I might do a series of the different suburban regions and break down which are the best for each area.
