    Is there any device you can connect a computer into your repeater (between interface cable). I got my zello channel linked to my repeater, but I`m using a portable radio. I would like to not use that portable radio.

      I only had to make a special lead because it was an Icom radio. Most other radios you can use something off the shelf. I've tried this with a TYT MD-380 DMR/Analog radio without the little VOX box on the lead and it works fine.

    I have an existing radio network using vhf and uhf bands. And I am planning to add this PoC LTE radio to my network. Can you suggest how can I integrate my analog radio network to that PoC LTE radios.

    My thing is. HOw would I use just my HT and/or mobile unit while I am driving around out of range of the actual repeater but still be able to transmit/receive via Zello without actually using my phone to transmit/receive ? I want to use my radio equipment to where I could PTT and transmit/receive with the assistance of Zello to extend range. Is that possible? I hope i've made sense - this can all get a little confusing.

    Do you keep that radio in charger 24/7 ? Doesnt that destroy the battery after awhile. ?

    Is it legal to use on CB UHF ??
    As people have been abusing the service to block other operators ???

      Probably not legal for UHF CB.....although there are a few Aussie UHF CB repeater channels connected to Zello this way

    Wait i dont get it. You are connecting LINE OUT to MIC IN. How does this even work? Dont you need a DI box to attenuate the signal?
    I wonder if I could jerryrig a downconverted signal to the mic-in 2.5mm plug on the iCOM.

    Won't it burn the radio out to stay on the charger? I'm a ham of 14 years. I've done this, and I like it. The problem is, I really don't like my town or the people in it. I do plan on moving ASAP, but I'm not very community oriented.
    The reason I might do this up now is to put the local electric company frequency in, and then anyone listening on Zello would know where they are when there's a power outage.

    • @fssaustralia6058
      @fssaustralia6058  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats correct....it would eventually bugger the radio battery, and the phone battery if they both left on the charger all the time.

    Hey, I came to the same cross link idea, tried to build it myself, but can't get it working. I think, the problem is, that 3.5 jack has only one GND, and the other end of my cable - Kenwood 2 pin connector has two separate grounds, one for the headphone and one for the mic. So, my walkie talkie is activating itself via vox and never stops transmitting. Or I might be wrong. It would be great to take a look at your wiring scheme.

      You can use Zello on the computer and just run a 3.5 mono cable from the computer mic port to the radio speaker port Works great and vox works fine on the computer.

    Could you use radio to radio through the Zello app?

    • @fssaustralia6058
      @fssaustralia6058  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. For example, you could have 2 x radio users and 1 x Zello user on the same "network". The two radios could talk direct to each other, whilst the Zello user listens to both transmissions. The Zello user could also talk to either of the radio users.

      So let’s say I have one Motorola radio VHF and I’m on one side of the city, and my friend has the same radios on the other side of the city, say 10 miles... if we have this hooked up this way would those radios work and cover the distance? Just trying to understand before I attempt it.

    This video fails to get to the substance. Everyone knows what a transceiver is. Everyone knows what Zello is. The UNKNOWN, is what sort of phone or device can run Zello, and how is it powered. This scenario has no power supply. The radio and the "phone" will run out of power and go off. There is no mention or chart of the connections, which can be converted to any other radio. In a nutshell, this video is nuts.

      Not really. The phone is on a wireless charger. Fine. The iCom is on a fixed charging cradle.... though using the iCom while charging will damage the battery long term.

  • @ramjet4025

    Who is interested in ACMA or what frequency it is on? Your "Activation" is for the AUDIO from the radio to Zello. You failed to show the audio from ZELLO to the radio and how, the Transmitter is turned on. Then at 3:35 we see that you are cheating, that the 491 Mhz Radio is actually using its own VOX.... Another uselss ROIP video that should be removed. It fails to show the basic elements. I get sick of hearing about the Galaxy phone, the lighting you failed to check, the Frequency you use or the radio authority or your licence that you seem to be obsessed with.

      Not sure what your point is?
      I'm not trying to sell the thing, just showing people that it can be done! I mentioned the commercial frequency I'm using is ACMA licenced....... firstly, because it actually is, and secondly, I was hoping it will stop the clowns out there like yourself from whinging about it being used on an illegal frequency!
      There's always one absolute TOOL out there that chooses to waste their time by commenting on videos with some stupid remark or opinion - sadly this time you were the only TOOL that felt the need to do this!
      What I normally do if I think someones TH-cam video is crap is MOVE ON to another video and not waste my time bagging them out!
      I suggest you use your time more productively and worry about things that are actually worth worrying about! And that 3" wide stick that's jammed up your arse, well I suggest getting someone to pull it out for you.........maybe you might smile a bit more if its gone!
      God bless your charming soul xoxoxoxoxoxo :)

  • @ramjet4025

    This video only refers to a hand held radio with an inbuilt VOX. This is the typical moron's set up. The reality is most people will want to use a mobile radio that does not have an inbuilt vox. Its getting that VOX circuit working with audio isolation, and more importantly power isolation to prevent AC hum getting into the system. VK3FTOM, yes, I have a ham call. I don't put it on youtube.
