Thank you for this video. My daughter is going to China in January and honestly I’m terrified about not being able to reach her and her not being able to get around. She speaks no Chinese. Just wondering about bring those large containers of product on flights and going through customs, is there any problem with that?
Rogerio always talks about how amazing charcoal is for your stomach lol and that is a lot of nutella!!! The mint thing is interesting, I wonder why that is?
If I am only staying in China for 2 weeks, but I still wanna have access to Apps from Google and will be using the WiFi of the hotels etc.. What App do I need? Can I use VPN when I only have public-ish WiFi?
Do you know if FaceTime and iMessage work over the Internet in China? I am going in October with my school and want to contact my parents to check that my animals are okay.
Running on Plants Yep. As far as I know they do. Skype works as well. It's mainly Facebook, snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and anything Google that doesn't.
I'd recommend getting it in the States. I've had too many friends with hair problems from Chinese shampoo, even name brand ones. But I also have friends who use Chinese brands with no problem. I always brought my own over just to be safe.
I'm going to Tsinghua University so would you recommend me to have an adapter? Also, do you know or think that universities have different rules in regards to the internet and wifi?
1313fina hey! I found that I never needed an adapter as they usually have US and European plugs every where. But I would bring one just in case. You don't want to get stuck. And technically vpns are illegal in general, so I don't think there would be any different rules regarding them in Universities.
The adapter can be extremely easily bought in China, especially in Taobao. About the internet and wifi, you can easily find VPN services in China, but NEVER buy and service for the whole year or longer time, because these VPN services can die at any time and your money will gone. Of course you can ask help the foreigners in beijing for help, they will know everything. If you cannot have the access to the google, FB or something, just calm down, you will find everything has its replacement in China.
I had an alternate yahoo account. However, just make sure you have a VPN before you go over there and you can use your gmail account. Express VPN is your best bet. Its a lot of money, but totally worth it if you're in China for any period of time.
+Christy Ray I'm not exactly sure how it all works, but it acts as a third party connection and reroutes your ip address so it looks like you're connecting to the Internet from a different location.
Isn't there a store that sells western products, more expensive I'm sure but better than having a suit case full of products if you are staying for a long period. I don't plan on coming back to states for a long time once I get to China, so I thought I saw some video's where you can buy hygiene stuff.
I Walk, You Lead It depends on what city you are in. Beijing and Shanghai will definitely have American cosmetics. Smaller cities most likely will not.
Rachel Into Asia ok I was a little confused there, I am wanting to teach in Beijing. So I won't need another suit full of all my beauty stuff. Girl, I'm old so that suitcase would weigh more than me. LOL
The shoes are really important. Interesting points about things you need in China!
You can easy to buy everything online in China. very convenience

Would you recommend getting shampoo and conditioner in the States or getting the same name brands over in China?

If the world universalised the plug it would HAVE to be the UK with all its additional safety features
