Hello! I have an idea for a video(s) .. just gonna list some issues I’ve experienced and questions Breed: Brittney Spaniel (very high energy/ sporting dog) {Female, four month old pup} Issues: #1. digging (she’s starting to sniff an area and bites/rip up the grass and then she starts to aggressively dig up whatever it is she’s after) … I like that she likes to dig but I rather it be she digs on command vs. dig holes all over the backyard #2. Biting : ofc she’s a puppy but I’ve never had a puppy that bites so hard and sooo much … she’d bite so bad I’d end up bleeding, now I’ve got her to a point where she doesn’t bite me nowhere as much nor does she bite as aggressive as b4 (more of a nibble or licking) but she still acts badly towards everyone in the house and especially meeting new people. The only time she isn’t all over a person is when they have a dog. (I want to train her to be calm , there’s a time to play and time to relax) Peeing when excited: idk if this needs training or she’ll grow out of this but it usually happens when a person starts to pet her Jumping up: on the counters / the table and on people/ on my five yr old French mastiff .. he tolerates her but I can tell even for him she can be overwhelming when he’s not trying to play anymore Picking up or biting / eating things she shouldn’t: I already know I’ve messed up cause when she picks up somebody’s shoe, sock or something from the yard that might harm her if consumed…I’d tried to chase her to get it out of her mouth. But for her it’s just an opportunity to have fun having me chasing her around as she eats up whatever it is she may grab Hunting / fishing : I wanna know where to even start when conditioning her for that kind of lifestyle (locating or pointing and retrieving etc.) Questions: is there anything I need to do before I try to take her camping w/ me Q: should I not take her on walks anymore until I can get her to walk nicely on a lead? Q: how do I socialize a pup that wants nothing more than to play w/ people but just bites and jumps on them Q’s : what are the signs that my pup may have separation anxiety? Qs: can she learn certain behaviors from other dogs Qs : I want to take her on bike rides when she’s older, is there anything I should do know to ensure it’s done safely and she doesn’t drag me on the ride? Q: what’s another treat for train that my pup will love that isn’t meat? Or do I just need to test out what she may love the most?
Hey, Thank you for this, you have definitely given me some great inspiration for some video topics. I would like to help you out specifically though as I won’t be able to cover everything here in videos. If you would like a chat with me you can book a video consultation on my website or come see me in person if your able to do that ❤️
To build more good drive the best way I find is to restrict food down to only being offered during training. Might mean they skip a few grams a day but once you start getting the drive for hand feeding you can introduce bowl feeding again. I tend to only feed my dogs once a day in the evening as they get a little throughout the day when we are out and about
Do you know any balanced dog trainers in/near Cambridge by any chance? I follow you and Tom Davis online, but it would be great to have a fellow trainer close by to learn from each other and brainstorm or recommend.
I'm at 1/10 and my dog is 1 so its game over. How do I get to 7/10 if my dog has been used to pull the leash since 8 month?(I got my dog at age 4 month).
Hi Ben another great video but I'm a bit confused. Please could you tell me if i should not be walking my dog on her usual hour long walks down the canal and only focus on the training in the garden until she's a 10 there first thanks.
@@St-91-3 if they can walk for an hour without overly rehearsing unwanted behaviour then that’s fine. Or you can spend time building up your an hour walk focusing on quality over quantity. Might take a day might take a week but it’s important to set consistent boundaries to being on a lead walk
I walk a rescue dog terrified of kids, so she pulls on the lead whenever she hears kids' high pitched voices. It's out of fear. No matter how much work I do, her intense flight instinct comes from being mistreated before adoption. She won't take a reward in this state.
You get what you are willing to tolerate, with dogs and life.
The learning to drive analogy is awesome! Spot on! Thank you. ❤️
@@saraandshe ❤️ no, thank you!
Thank you so much, Ben!
You say exactly what I say to my clients! Love it! Great advise! ❤🐶❤️🐶❤️
Love that!

Hi Ben, what treats are you using?
Enjoyed your videos. Any tips for a non food motivated dog or even toy motivated?

@balanceddoguk Thanks for the reply and all the great videos you're doing
How much time per day do you spend training a dog on this one problem?
Listened for nine seconds and that was enough.
You missed a really informative video😮
great knowledge ,and love the black alsations face ,so alive
hey mate, what lead or leads are you using? they look like to perfect length
@@iainallchurch1059 hey, I make these leads myself for my in person clients and myself to train with
What food do you train with?
@@jamestaylor9480 usually kibble. The dogs everyday food, sometimes high value meat of some kind when training around higher distractions
