My family loves the Xbox One. We have 5 so far in the house (one for each kid and parent) all because they are cheap on the used market and can be easily upgraded to SSD. Plus, they come with a disk drive which gives my kids the chance to play classic Xbox360 titles like Gears and BioShock.

Managed a GS a while ago and this is the case in many many families. It’s also the reason most Xbox fans views are skewed. Ex. 100 players 30 households creating false sense of being the majority or thinking MS is the best.
@@reelroyalevizion800 if I could buy a PS5/PS4 and insert a Rachet and Clank game from PS2 and it would play, then we would also have some PS5/PS4s too. Backwards compatibility of Xbox is the deciding factor for us
The reason why the ps4 and Xbox one is still being supported is because the ps5 and Xbox series doesn't have installed base to sell the most potential software which is where the real money is. The ps4 and Xbox one has bigger install bases so they'll sell more games there.

I didn't start seeing series x in store until like 2023.
I'm with you on these points. I'm one of the people who is still on PS4.
I think you missed 2 additional points:
- the push to digital games and not owning your games is rubbing a lot of people the wrong way. (Me included)
- the focus of developers on making games that keep sucking your wallet dry long after the initial purchase. Sure, this was already the case in gen 8. But it's gotten worse still now. These practices reduce the overall game quality.
And yeah, I'm one of the people that will play retro games after gen 8 actually dies. I'm not going to upgrade at all anymore. I'm not going to stop gaming, but I'm going to stop modern gaming.

Luckely On Playstation 5 majority of Singelplayer games do not require online connection just to play.
Online requirement is writen on the cover on thoose who do'

Online connection to download updates and patches isn't the same as online connection just to play.
After the updates and patches are downloaded and installed you can disconnect you're Playstation 5 offline and Continue playing with all updates and patches installed.

I bought a PS5 to play my Ps4 games the faster ssd loading times is worth it alone .
Now 155 ps4 games so far have the free 4k/60 fps patch.
Playing my Ps4 discs of "Mass Effect" and "Witcher 3" at 2160p/60fps on a Ps5 rather than 1080p/30fps on a ps4 with slow loading times . It is like playing a remastered game for free .
The Xbox showcase was the first time I felt like I was looking at next gen games
I still play oldies, indie games and retro games on my Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch
Many games are starting to be next gen exclusives at the moment. And a lot of cross gen games run horribly on PS4/Xbox One Eldin Ring runs 24-30 FPS around 900P and Cyberpunk runs 20FPS-30FPS on ps4 (I know the release was horrible but it’s very optimized right now) and for folks who say frames don’t matter it kinda does with a souls game and you can’t deny a smoother experience is just better my cousin bought a PS5 Slim recently it the difference was crazy to him when you see it you will notice.
Also back to cyberpunk the DLC phantom liberty was not released on PS4 due to it not having a SSD SSDs are becoming more important to games now.
On the other i totally understand not wanting to jump ship on the ps4 it’s a good console which is capable but the PS4 and Xbox One are moving out the door alot of games recently announced indie and triple A have been announced as next gen exclusive.
Also speaking on the “ps5 has no games things” yes Xbox is having more Xbox made games but they arnt really being made Xbox exclusives many of their games are being released too the PS5 as well which I think makes the ps5 the better console to pick.

Talking about the generational leap, we can't really say there wasn't one, but the power that would be used to drive impressive graphics is now being used for resolution and 60 fps, there won't be a big leap, since we quadrupled the resolution and then doubled the frame rate, all the power this got needs to be used on that, and when they don't, we see either resolution bellow 1080p or 30 fps, and gamers nowdays complain if a game doesn't have a 60 fps mode, while complaining that graphics haven't advanced enough.
Yea, this is so true for me. I wanted to get a PS5 at the start of this generation, but instead build a gaming PC. Gonna do the same when PS6 comes out, if this is where the console industry is going. The main advantage of consoles over PC, was it's price. Especially when the physical market was bigger. I could always wait few months after a big exclusive released, and buy it for 40%-50% off, from a physical user online. But even if not, the PS4 PSN deals were also good.
But now the base prices are super high, and the discounts very small. As you mentioned. And this is where me going PC paid off. The discounts on Steam, or legal key sites are just insane in comparison. The current Steam sale is also a good example of this. Everything that i bough on it this year, is about 30-60% more expensive on PSN. More if I would have went to a CD-KEY site.
So yea, Sony have 100% alienated me from their ecosystem.
Yup. I haven't been on console since the Wii when it came out. I switched to pc gaming in 2009... I also got a series x... just try out new games via gamepass so I don't have to buy games.
Several reasons spring to mind. But the major reason is there isn't any real need or drive.
Jumping from the XBO to 360 or even 360 to XB1 saw a definite improvement in graphical capability and the capability of each console.
The jump from XB1 to XBXS, however...did not. There are many games on the XB1 that look great even a decade later. Ryse is one example. Still looks great. Still sounds great.
That's not to denigrate the consoles, but it is inevitable. The jump from 1040p to 4k is much less noticeable. It is jumping from near photorealistic resolution to slightly better photorealistic resolution. The power of modern consoles is much greater, but the effect and impact of that power long ago entered the realm of diminishing returns. There are few games today which show off the power and capability of modern hardware. Hellblade 2. Flight Sim. And very little, if anything, else. Even where the power is used to improve looks, the impact tends to be marginal. Hellblade 2 looks ruddy marvellous and is not possible on last gen...but it also looks almost as good as HellBlade.
If games from 10 years ago look almost as good as games today, there is no real drive to upgrade so long as games are being made.
The PS4 especially sold a lot of units. Half of PS4 owners still use their PS4. The PS4 (and to a lesser extent the XB1) are still seen as very viable markets. Games developed for those consoles sell enough to be worth making. But if you make a game that the PS4 can run, then it cannot make use of advanced current gen features and tech. If a game doesn't use such technology, again there is little drive to update your system.
Compounding this is an issue that was confirmed during the hearings around the ABK deal. Sony has enacted tech parity clauses with many devs and publishers. They are legally prohibited from using tech that the PS5 does not have. Any feature which allowed the XBox to outperform the PS5 was essentially verboten. All the advanced tech and features that one might expect to drive gaming forward - well, the PS5 didn't have them so they weren't used. Again, this led to a situation whereby the XB1 and PS4 consoles remained viable. The tech which might have driven games forward and prompted playerbases to upgrade was essentially neutered by Sonys lawyers because its engineers weren't good enough. Why were Xbox games often released performing subpar? Because devs were forbidden from suing the tools needed to optimise for the platform. Fun fact - although there are exceptions, games which use MSs DirectStorage solution often end up taking less space than Sonys Kraken. Similarly, for all the bruhaha and hype over Sonys SSD solution, in reality it simply moved the bottlenecks elsewhere. Games which managed to utilize the XBox Velocity architecture often outperformed the PS5. And overall....devs developed for a common base to lower costs anyway.
It must be recognised now that there are no real "next gen" games this gen. There is simply last gen games with a fresh coat of paint. There are no huge leaps in capability....just a boost in power which makes new games look SLIGHTLY better. Sony promised their magical SSD would revolutionize gaming. But it turned out even RACRA - the game impossible to run on even a normal SSD - could be used via normal HDD. Even without optimizing the game around a HDD, RACRA could run perfectly well using a modern HDD. The indispensable SSD was dispensable and shown as little more than marketing hype. Again, this is leading to a situation whereby modern games can very easily be transitioned over to last gen hardware....they just need to lose some graphical fidelity. 1080p instead of 4k. 30fps instead of 60. And they'd look and feel and sound just as good.
And finally - half way through the XB1/PS4 lifecycle hey got a "mid gen refresh". It was needed. Both the PS4 and (especially) XB1 had launched underpowered and needed to boost. The problem is that this effectively reset the clock on the entire generation. Rather than needing a new generation after 6 to 8 years, the XBXS and PS5 came along after 4 years of the PS4Pro and XB1X. Again this ensured that the PS4 and XB1 remained very viable gaming platforms compared with the PS5 and XBXS which again encouraged devs to continue to develop games for them and this in turn slowed down adoption of the new generation of consoles.
In addition...Covid played a major role. Covid impacted games development to a huge degree, slowing development and increasing costs.
In reality....the XBXS and PS5 should be launching TODAY. This year. 8 years after the mid gen refreshes.
Interesting. I didn't take into consideration the concept that the mid-gen refresh acted as the start of a whole new generation.
The whole issue is the core concept of a console is lost because technology has converged. A console is suppose to do what other machines can't do. That leads to exclusives. It's not just a platform holder locking up a game, that game is suppose to showcase what that platform can do that others cannot. The only company left that still gets it is Nintendo. The Switch was really unique when it released and still is the only machine like it on the market. The XB One, X, PS4, Pro, PS5 and PC are all the same. Same X86, HDMI, sound, general controller layout, general online experience. There's really nothing between them outside of some are a bit faster and snappier than the other that differentiates them and that's the real problem. Gone are the days of exotic chipsets, different controller layouts, different sound chips to showcase. When I was a kid and walked into Toys R Us a Genesis was obviously different than a NES. If you spin up a game on PS4 and another one on PS5 in a Best Buy, most customers are honestly not going to be able to tell the difference.
The PC is a Totally Better Experience when it comes to Gaming Hands Down, Better Performance, Actual Customization, Way Better Backwards Compatibility, Ect, Yes PC Gaming is More Expensive up front But it's Cheaper in the Long Run because we don't have to Pay for a Subscription to Play Games Online and We Have an Open Market for Games, Which means we are able to Get Games at a much Better Price Point a lot of the time
The loading times are a good enough reason (for me) to justify a switch to PS5/Series... I'm playing on Series X since a bit more than 3 years, I took my Xbox One X out of the closet not long ago to play with my family and damn, loading times are so long... unbearably long!
I simply can't imagine playing on it anymore, so sadly, for me, my beloved One X is dead (knowing that I'm able to play all games I owned from all xbox on my Series X...)
at the moment most console players are gaming just for great gameplay, combat, replay-ability and narratives, and sure next gen graphics are beautiful, but last gen games are getting cheaper too. So there's really no incentive to upgrade yet..
Even with a SSD on last generation systems stability on newer games are very unstable

The PlayStation portal has me playing the Ps5 a lot more than usual. The new update made it a must buy.
I will acknowledge, that update fixed a serious flaw with the device. Glad you're getting enjoyment from it.
When the Xbox one and the PS4 is finally dead it will save a lot of development time.

I'd say for $350 for a series x it's worth it.

Also wanted to bring up The Part where you said Sony and Xbox aren't giving enough Reasons to switch to The PS5 and Series X/S ummmm I think 60 FPS and Faster Loading Times are a Pretty Good Selling Point, There should be more of a Selling Point than just Games Locked to a Plastic Box, Maybe Hardware could also be a Selling Point? You know Games Performing 60-120 FPS, Faster Loading Times, Ect.

Xbox One and PS4 will be supported for years. Not just new games but the online for these consoles will be supported long term with all the popular free to play games like Rocket League , PUBG and Warzone that the 360 and PS3 didn't have.
The Xbox One / PS4 generation is completely different from any other generation before it.
Sure some new games run and look rough on Xbox One and PS4 but they are playable and most casuals don't care about a slight downgrade in graphic fidelity or FPS if they can play the game on the console they already own.
I've never wanted two system to die so much because it's ruining my gaming and from what I'm seeing and hearing this might be the final year for them.

over 55+ million xbox one consoles , xbox stop making them , I bet you many places still have some new ones to sell especially xbox one X version.
Both these consoles are easy and cheap to make make just like switch and you can port games to them. Just like PC games even older hardware , you can still play many games on it especially indie games.
The ps5 only sold 50 million units and Xbox Series X|S only sold 28 million units. Both of these consoles are lagging behind and should have sold more in the past 4 years but thanks to Pandemic supply shortage and most gamers aren't rich enough to drop $500 for a new console most stayed on old consoles, the switch or moved over table or PC gaming.
IMO both ps5 and xbox series consoles need games that push more units especially the xbox console in Canada, Mexico, UK, EU and China & japan just to name a few places that xbox is lagging behind and we see many devs skip the xbox not just japanese devs like we saw back in xbox one generation.
I think there will be games. But it won't be announced until the ps5 pro is announced.

Definitely this gen should last longer. At the very least they shouldn't release the next until there's a strong demand from devs.

I would also blame scalpers hoarding the inventory of both consoles that enabled the slow adoption rate of the next gen consoles.

I used my PS5 mainly to play PS4 games. It was nice getting 60 fps and upscaling to 4K. The only time I actually used a PS5 version was if that was the only way to get 60 fps otherwise I'd save SSD space by installing the PS4 version to an external HDD. They really should keep making games for both platforms but only if those games don't need the additional power. There's no reason for 2D games that a PS3 could run to be PS5/SeriesXS exclusive. If it's runnable on PS4 and Xbone it should be available for those because really they are the same consoles as PS5 and SeriesXS just with lower specs.

Look it up there are currently 669 games that can play on a Ps5 but not play on a Ps4 .
You absolutely right about there being plenty of games that last gen can't play. But third party isn't leaving last gen yet. Sony finally confirmed that Lego Horizon (whatever it's name is) will be the last Playstation studio game released on the Ps4. Third party devs will probably be another year or two before they are going to start sticking only to next gen.
I have a PS5, but I keep buying PS4 games. I blame covid for fucking everyone up. GTA VI will change everything tho
Ps4 gamers are better off getting a steamdeck rather than a ps5. The device is in a discount and summer steam sales are popping.

Yeah it's weird what does and what doesn't get ported. XBone didn't get a RE4 remake port but Ps4 did.
Why did they design the xbox one as a generic dvr/cable box/dvd player. maybe not to look intrusive in the living room? the look doesn't age well. I'm glad that they did a redesign on the series X generation. I always remember the PS having iconic design starting with the PS3, The PS4 was a little tamer on the looks but it looked great vertically.. Even the PS2 has a unique shape.
I still use my XB1X, i have a Series X bnib, and I don't plan on opening it anytime soon. When Warhammer comes out, I will probably switch to the series X.
I mean if you already have a series X you might as well use it. The dashboard is almost identical to the Xbox one and you can play everything the one can play except for Kinect games.
All Sony and Microsoft care about is money and the mindset of the “old gen needs to die” is simply for Elitist gamers who HAVE to have the newest and best thing on the market to feel superior over everybody else and look for reasons to justify their 350-500$
I’m Still on ssd ps4 and couldn’t be happier no reason to upgrade whatsoever. Graphics and frames are not big enough of a difference I’ve played both and the ps5 did not impress me AT ALL faster load times is the only advantage and it’s only 40 sec faster than my ps4 and considering ps3 is still being supported 20 years later ps4 is here to stay
There is a Big Difference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS, 60 FPS being a better and Smoother Gaming Experience and as for the Graphics and Load Times they are a bit of a Step up From The PS4 Pro to The PS5, But you can't call People Elitist just because they want Better Performance

the ps4 and ps4 pro can both hit 60 fps just one at 1080 p and one at 4k just depends on what game your playing it’s not a matter of hardware on the old gen just specific game and ps5 is not truly locked at 60 fps either sure games are made to play at 60 doesn’t mean they hit it or even come close so for 500$+ your not getting that much of a performance boost graphically and 40 sec difference in load times Definitly doesnt justify the cost imo

The xbox one and ps4 have good games and from what I tried pc gaming isn't bad but it's so hard to get into because it takes a while to load one game when on game console it takes 2mins to launch a game

I'm pretty sure I said that there are currently 7 exclusives. If I didn't say that in this video I have acknowledged that in past videos. If I overlooked that for this video thanks for bringing it towards my attention. My main point was that the list is slim this gen so far.

I liked playing Alan Wake 2 on a Ps5 better than Spiderman 2 .
Point is most new AA and AAA games play on the ( PC ,S-X and Ps5)

@@Crashed131963 Exclusivity matters when inticing new buyers. Once you got a console sure you can have loads of fun with third party games. People stay for third party games but they come for first party exclusives.

well we can aslo blame covid for the huge disruption it did to all developers lots of games got pushed back years and made game developement longer , even after already long development.
You realize that Sony is no Longer doing Quote on Quote True Exclusives anymore right? Yea they kinda went the Xbox Route and are now Releasing all of their Exclusives on PC Maybe not Day and Date like Xbox is Currently doing but you Bet your Bottom Dollar PS Exclusives are coming to the PC in the Near Future, Console Exclusives are kinda an Old Business Practice at this Point and Sony realized they could Make Way More Money Porting PS Games over to PC instead of just Locking their Games to their Consoles that and Sony also have High Hopes of PC Gamers Potentially going out and Buying a PS5 but that's a Topic for another Time.
You're probably right. I don't hate that their exclusives eventually comes to PC. But they need to step up their game like the past 2 generations.

Absolutely. Don Mattrick drove the brand into the ground. However the Xbox one did improve over the generation and now is a pretty decent console.

Xbox one and a Xbox series x is the same console series x is just a better version of a Xbox one people don’t believe it but they haven’t actully released a new Gen console yet

They won’t die because people are hurting and they only play Fortnite, Apex, Warzone and whatever free offering they like. No need to upgrade at all they’re on 1080p Vizios that are over 5 years old. Remember you’ll need at bare minimum $1000 plus to actually upgrade. No need in getting the new console if you don’t want/have the funds for the correct TV/Monitor. That latter part is why the majority of gamers haven’t a clue as to what they’re speaking on. Would love to see numbers on how many users have 4k 120hz+, VRR, HDR, ALLM, HDMI 2.1 with a proper HDMI cable, if your set up doesn’t have ALL those specs you haven’t experienced the “next gen” as of yet your opinions are irrelevant respectfully
Generally you're right about the 1k entry. If your willing to drop one of the TV options you can get a decent 4k for 200 to 300$.
@@EleventhHourReviews I was really being generous, I caught one with all the specs on sale for 600… but if you drop specs it drops your experience. They’ve done under the hood updates that keep making the fidelity higher if you have the specs. If you don’t it’s like what are they talking about?!? My game stutters, I’m only getting 30-40 fps, can’t take advantage of FSR, etc. etc. I feel the Companies were not clear and loud enough about this it’s like forgetting to put the two eggs in your cake batter, it may appear to look fine, but once you taste it🤮🤢
@@reelroyalevizion800 I get what your saying. My set up doesn't have VRR or 120htz refresh rate. I'm pretty happy with 4K and HDR and my TV was a pretty good deal.
