  • The drift truck gets Z32 front brakes! This a HUGE performance improvement, and I feel much better knowing that I have a braking system that can actually slow the truck down in a safe and effective manner.

    What is that adapter you used to get the rotors to fit the hub.

  • @Zukuri620
    @Zukuri620 ปีที่แล้ว

    I see some more beebani junk. Those adapters he made that simply adapt one bolt circle to another should be fine. SO as long as the pad properly locates on the rotor. I bought 2 sets of his brackets for 620, and neither located the pad properly.

    • @Inner_Sanctum
      @Inner_Sanctum  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not really sure how I want to respond to this comment. Calling something “junk” right out of the gate like that is a little misguided, and also makes it seem like I don’t know what I’m doing, but there’s some truth to what you’re saying. Plus, I understand your frustration.
      These Z32 front calipers do not bolt to a bracket, they bolt directly to the front D21 spindles without modification. This may be different for your setup. I DID have an issue with these rotor adapters because the inner hat of the rotor was not clear of casting marks which didn’t allow me to bolt it up right. Once I took care of that, it was fine. Both rotors are properly located now.
      As far as the rest of the Beebani stuff? I feel like his kits get you close, but the rest is kind of up to you. I was able to get everything I purchased from him to work for me. So, it’s definitely NOT “junk”.
      However, would I do it this way again? Absolutely not. For the price I paid, this stuff shouldn’t get me close. It should be almost exact with VERY little, if any at all, modification to the parts themselves.
      Every single part I purchased from Beebani required modification of some sort. In some cases it was quite extensive. Knowing what I know now… I would have just built my own setup entirely using s-chassis suspension and saved serious $$$ for a much superior setup.
      In fact, that’s exactly what I did already on my other D21. So… 😎

    • @Zukuri620
      @Zukuri620 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Inner_Sanctum I don't think your truck is junk at all. It sounds like you found out the hard way that Jason's parts are. Irrelevant of my setup or yours, the caliper HAS to be located properly WRT the rotor. Even though the Z32 caliper bolts to the knuckle, the adapter could very well cause an alignment issue with the pads, if the concentricity wasn't correct.
      What I was gettign at, was that out of all of Beebani's parts, this one should be the easiest for him to actually get right. All he would need to do is get the bolt circles correct in CAD, create a proper drawing with GTOL, and find a machinist who could deliver. Assuming that his material selection had the properties necessary to perform.
      The issue with Beebani has always been that he is not an engineer. He can stick stuff together in his garage until it sort of fits. But in terms of actually engineering a part by understanding the forces involved with its use, the selection of materials, proper FEA testing and real world testing, he has never been able to deliver.
      I experienced his parts way back in the day, before I was an engineer, and had nothing but issues. I wish I could show you how bad the pad misalignment was on my first set of brake brackets I got from him. Lol, when I got them out of the box, the newspaper he shipped them in was stuck to them because he put them in the box with wet paint.
      I think the guy always had good intentions of providing a good product to the datsun/nissan scene. Unfortunately many people have been suckered into buying from him over the years.

    • @Inner_Sanctum
      @Inner_Sanctum  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Zukuri620 yeah, I have definitely heard the stories. My buddy Meco in Canada had some really serious issues with the stuff he had purchased from Jason. He was not nice about it either. Haha
      I respect the hustle and willingness to make stuff, but you’re right. There’s just no replacing the scrutiny that comes with properly engineering a part, and these parts are just not in that category.
      As it turns out, I’m actually slowly working on my engineering degree right now. I can say, without a doubt, there’s a lot more that goes into this stuff than people realize.

    Have you mentioned what rear brake/brake master/proportioning valve setup you're going to run? Are you going to make new hard lines for everything? Also do you think it will be ready to drift Pike's Peak next year or are you shooting for 2022 to be safe?

    • @Inner_Sanctum
      @Inner_Sanctum  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I posted a video about the rear brakes already. Dual Z32 rears. A dedicated hydraulic e-brake plumbed separately.
      For now I am going to run the Z32 BM57 master with Z32 vacuum booster, unless I just decide to do a pedal box right off the bat.
      If I plumb everything like stock, I won't need to run a proportioning valve due to the way the Z32 master is designed. You have two dedicated ports for the front left and right wheels, and a single port that runs to the rear that you split equally.
      I need to properly vet the truck before any major competition. It's going to be a learning curve for sure. It will need several shakedowns under its belt before I feel confident in it.

      @JamesLee-oy6nt 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Inner_Sanctum you're right I remember you mentioning the brakes now .I was just thinking the stock z32 braking bias would be kinda wrong for the truck since the weight distribution is different. But I have no idea how that would effect handling.
      Pedal box would be cool and keeping the brake fluid away from the turbo/downpipe would probably keep it cooler and brake performance more consistent under "spirited" driving.

      Great question. Unfortunately, I'm not too sure. I don't have a lot of experience with Mazda B series trucks. Hope to change that in the future, but for now, I'm no help.
      I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to configure a decent Wilwood setup if you're after better stopping power. They make a wide array of caliper options that you could realistically adapt to your front knuckles.

    Do you think you could fit a 15in wheel?

    • @Inner_Sanctum
      @Inner_Sanctum  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends...
      1. The Z32 caliper face barely sticks out beyond the hub face, so offset will not be an issue, but is still important for overall caliper fitment inside the barrel of the wheel.
      2. The Z32 caliper's outer most point is ~6" from the center of the hub, so if the inside barrel of the wheel [the area that will be over the caliper] is greater than 12" (diameter), you are good to go.

    • @Inner_Sanctum
      @Inner_Sanctum  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a matter of fact, I just tried a set of 15" steelies the other day. They were Trail Master TM5 15x8 +0 offset and they cleared no problem.
      The hub face already sits out beyond the caliper so that spacing isn't an issue. The 0 offset allowed the caliper to sit in the outer barrel section of the wheel. It's close, but there's room.
      Just think about where they place the weights when balancing the wheel.
