I think that whole situation hurt her far more than people are willing to acknowledge. The way she spoke about him, namely after he died, was very profound. She called him some of her highest highs and lowest lows. You can’t really fake something like that.

Lisa-Marie Presley feared, that if it came to a divorce with Michael Jackson, it would come to an ugly custody battle. That fear became reality with her later husband Lockwood. I think the BIG struggle for her happened after Michael died. As for the divorce, they were fighting over who would file first… they were both done with the marriage at that time. It wasn’t until after Michael achieved his goals of becoming a father that they rekindled their romance. Michael had no need for marriage at that point. But I do think they truly loved each other. Things just didn’t work out. Michael’s death most likely had a negative impact on her marriage at the time. It appeared that she fell in love with MJ all over again (and harder this time) despite fact that she was remarried with toddlers at the time. I remember watching that final Oprah interview and thinking ‘ummm… what does your current husband think about these newfound reincarnated feelings for MJ?’. I felt bad for Mr Lockwood at that time. MJ was the closest she got to being next to someone who was like Elvis and she was never gonna to be able to get over that after he passed. I don’t see how any man after that had a chance. New man, whoever he turned out to be, was going to be compared to both Elvis AND MJ in some form or another.

In a very passionate relationship with vibrant, complex, intelligent and dynamic personalities, especially in the limelight with trust issues, and high stakes it can be very dramatic at times. It’s easy for everything to feel amplified and magnified when really they could’ve recovered from the issues. They needed to take 6 months to adjust to marriage on a secluded island or an exotic location. Too many people were involved as well. Neither of them recovered from the split because they were meant to be together. God puts people in our lives that will trigger or accelerate our growth, especially because relationships highlight our blind spots and offer an opportunity for healing, accountability and change. Unfortunately, they gave up too soon before they could both experience that healing. Their relationship was an opportunity for redemption for them both. God gives us lots of opportunities for redemption. I was so sad about LMP’s death, I was just talking about her shortly before she passed. She was never appreciated as her own person, I loved her personality, her fashion and music. She was so talented and complex, a refreshing and candid person in the context of Hollywood is amazing. I wanted to send flowers to her house one day and a note saying she’s a beautiful person, but never got the chance (I live in another country). I think the BIG struggle for her happened after Michael died.
As for the divorce, they were fighting over who would file first… they were both done with the marriage at that time. It wasn’t until after Michael achieved his goals of becoming a father that they rekindled their romance. Michael had no need for marriage at that point. But I do think they truly loved each other. Things just didn’t work out.
Michael’s death most likely had a negative impact on her marriage at the time. It appeared that she fell in love with MJ all over again (and harder this time) despite fact that she was remarried with toddlers at the time. I remember watching that final Oprah interview and thinking ‘ummm… what does your current husband think about these newfound reincarnated feelings for MJ?’. I felt bad for Mr Lockwood at that time. MJ was the closest she got to being next to someone who was like Elvis and she was never gonna to be able to get over that after he passed. I don’t see how any man after that had a chance. New man, whoever he turned out to be, was going to be compared to both Elvis AND MJ in some form or another.

She was never appreciated as her own person, I loved her personality, her fashion and music. She was so talented and complex, a refreshing and candid person in the context of Hollywood is amazing. I wanted to send flowers to her house one day and a note saying she’s a beautiful person, but never got the chance (I live in another country). There probably isn’t a way to do that without it being creepy when it comes to a celebrity, though haha.
