I just started crocheting!! It's going ok haha but gotta start somewhere. Yeah I waffle back and forth on decisions so much, the great thing about doing youtube videos is that it really gives me a hard deadline for projects! But I could literally spend months trying to pick the perfect pattern for something only to have to alter it anyways 🙃
@@moth.faerie The nice thing about crochet is that a lot of the 3d know how for sewing comes in handy for all the stuffed animals and garments. Might I recomend looking up the African Flower Motif? It might be a bit much for a beginer but it is a good motif to practice working in the round, changing colors, and patern reading. There are also lots of videoes showing how to work it and lots of diffrent ways to combine the simple motif into anything from a elephant to a sea horse.

I just wanted to say you do in fact fit into the hobbit aesthetic. You don't need red hair to do that! You did a fantastic job and I cant wait to see what else you make! Perhaps a pair of hobbity ears could help the look feel more complete?
Aw well thank you ❤ I appreciate the encouragement! I have some elfy ears, maybe I will invest in a pair of hobbit ears too so I can live out all the middle earth dreams haha
aw haha well thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it 😊 please share your pinafore when you're done! feel free to dm me on instagram (@minjalinjee) if you have one, I'd love to see what you make!!
thank you! I got the idea from a pinafore skirt I bought from a Japanese brand - when I got it and found out the pinafore part was removable it blew my mind haha
omg same i'm super into knightcore and dark academia fashion rn because of her and similar instagrammers! after I'm done with my current project I definitely want to do some fashion projects!
Rachel Maksy's devil may care attitude towards sewing is 100% what convinced me I could see my own clothes, since September I've made myself a sweater, a skirt, a shirt and two dresses! Each one I made up the pattern for because I don't like trying to Frankenstein other people's patterns together, I've made some mistakes but, tbh I still love em 😅
Very very cute! I've been meaning to make a vest for some time now, but it's been put on the back burner... but now I'm like "hmm, does that vest need to be more Hobbitsy?!" Fun video, and you look SUPER cute at the end, even with the burnt hair!

You do look really cute and I think you pulled off the aesthetic very well! I also definitely feel that about Rachel Maksy making me want to be a hobbit. Hence me currently planning out a hobbit wardrobe 👀 Now you're inspiring me too!
Rachel Maksy is definitely a huge fashion inspiration for me. I’m slowly but surely building my own hobbit wardrobe, got two patterns coming in for some outfits.
I have a lovely green fabric with acorns and beige and brown leaves and this is exactly what I had in mind when I saw it, so excited to try it out now. ❤
I hope you're ok after the hair accident! it's happened to me too many times when crafting or else it's getting my hair caught into the mechanisms of the sewing machine 😬
The most exciting end to a video ever! Funny enough, I work in a high end bar & we have little candles everywhere… there has been so much burnt hair in that room… sometimes you’re just feeling yourself and you have to hair flip!! 💁🏻♀️ loved all of this! I just picked up a bunch of wool and linen from an estate sale & im thinking I really need to make a pinafore from the mustard check I found… thank you for the inspiration! Very relaxing and nice video. I’ve been trying to find videos/ channel on sewing and when I found your channel on SAI, I immediately able to connect with it. These are cute pieces. Love them all. ❤️ new friend from SAI. That’s a nice surprise blooper towards the end. I love the greenBone.
ah thank you so much! and thank you for subscribing ❤ glad to have you here! haha the flaming hair may not be delightful but it's definitely exciting 😅
I think you look very cute in all your outfits! You don't have to have a certain look to enjoy the and look good in it. Nevertheless, the issue you mentioned about not always fitting the look one likes is very true for me. I am a 61 year old lover of all-things cottagecore. I work at trying to dress cottagecore but a little more toned down so I don't look ridiculous for my age. It's always a question of how much I can get away with in terms of things like Ruffles or Gathers. I am wondering how you attach your different bibs. I think that is a fantastic idea.
Aw thanks! You should definitely dress as cottagecore as you want! Have you seen howls moving castle? Sophie is older for parts of the movie and definitely dresses cute and cottagecore! I’m trying to care less about not feeling like a suit the aesthetic and figure out ways to make it work anyways 😊
@@moth.faerie thanks for the suggestion! I haven't seen that movie that will look into it. I am wondering how your bibs are attached. Such a fantastic idea to make them removable and interchangeable. Love your clothes and love your sweet personality.
I love this! I'm desperate to make a lace up vest and some flowy shirts. I really need to get onto it because the lack of them feels like a huge hole in my wardrobe now
It’s butterick 3906, I listed it in the description. And the fabric I used is a faux suede I got years ago from Joanns , but probably any faux suede would work!
so.many.questions. First off, I'm still a pretty novice when it comes to sewing garments. I've just been focusing on learning different techniques while sewing dresses for my daughter, what is the what stabilizer you use in your waistbands for your skirts? Being a curvy girl, I definitely need more structure in my skirts!
Dear Minji. thank you for sharing your his video. I wish I hope see as well as you. Could you please tell me what this rods are called that you us to turn the straps right side out? And that apparatus you attached to your sewing table, which you use to beat rings in to the stay? Hank so uch. And you look beautiful. Hobbit is what you make it. Just look at the new series 😉
Nothing wrong with a wavy haired or even straight haired hobbit as long as you are having fun and enjoy the clothing. Lovely skirts. A slower demonstration of the zipper would be appreciated.
Love these and I totally have this thought all the time. In a sewing related question though, how you get your iron to press correctly? I have the same iron and I completely and utterly hate it. You seem to be using it just fine though, any tips on how to get that beast to behave? It keeps burning in the shape of the steam holes and I have no idea why or what to do about it. Just a random question, totally chill if you don't have an answer.
I haven’t had many problems with it aside from it leaking, but generally if I’m pressing on a synthetic I make sure to keep the iron moving and never leave it in one place, and if I do need to leave it one place like a stubborn seam or for embossing I use a silk organza press cloth. I hope that helps!
i love this so much Ive watched it at least 5 times this week and I will defintely be trying it out soon! Just one question before I do that, how do you attach the waistband to the skirt? thank you for the great vids
aw thank you so much! for the waistband, cut a strip of fabric that is your waist measurement + 2" (1/2" for seam allowance each end, and 1" for overlapping the closure) in length, and the width of your waistband x2 + 1" (so it'll be folded over and have 1/2" seam allowance on each side) so for example, my wait is 26" and I wanted a 1.5" width, so my strip was 28" x 4". Once your skirt is gathered, stitch the short ends of the waistband closed and turn them out, then stitch on of the long sides to the skirt with right sides together. press that seam open, and turn under the other long side by half an inch. Your skirt should be sandwiched inside the waistband, and just top stitch on the side that hasn't been stitched down yet. Hope that helps! if you need more clarification please let me know!
for this video i was using stash fabric so it's primarily synthetic suedes and faux brushed cotton, but typically i prefer using natural fibers like cotton, linen, and silk! my best advice is to go to clothing stores you like and touch the clothing and look at the fiber content on the tag
Omg. Finally sat down and watched it. Now I need to re-re-re-rebinge LOTR (I mean literally just watched all 3 last week aahaahhah) and make some Hobbit clothes at the same time :')
