Am genuinely still surprised at the size of it. We're in the middle of a bitter cold front at the moment so am actually glad it came unrooted as I think the shock would've been a problem! It's happily rooting away so should be ready to pot up in Spring. Rosie is so ridiculous, so much character in such a small body.
Thank you for your video. I love to see your excitement and totally relate. I just ordered this plant from Indonesia and can’t wait to get it! Would Love to see a progress video if you have the chance in the future 🙏🏼
That's so exciting! Can't wait for this to get rooting, we're in the middle of winter here so rooting is happening very slowly but will definitely give an update on it, probably once it's ready to pot up!
Did you really mean 8:50 $ ? Wow I just paid 118$ but for a rooted plant , that was a deal within the US unless you have really good plant friends lol tfs 👍🏼
Hi! I live in South Africa, can't remember how much I paid now, think it was R150 (rand) which now comes to $9.62 according to Google. An absolute steal 😂
Hi Liffey, would love to see an update video on how the rooting is going for your Dark Lord. It’s a wishlist plant of mine as well and I’ve been looking for a good deal online. With the current plant craze online your ~$8.50 equivalent now seems spectacular cheap compared to current prices. 😂 You also mentioned in a comment that you moved it to leca- what’s your experience been using leca for propagation so far? I’m just getting into using it myself and would love to hear your take on it.
I really don't know how this one was so cheap. Our prices have skyrocketed here since I filmed this but a mature dark lord went on auction a few months ago and only went for about $40 in the end. Bizarre. Then other random stuff is auctioning for 10x that. He's all rooted now but took foreeeeever. It wasn't enjoying rooting in leca so moved it back to water. We did have a very cold winter too so don't think that helped. I'm terms of leca the only thing I've actually enjoyed rooting in it so far is hoya linearis. Everything else I still prefer water. But growing in leca is going really well! All my hoya bar a giant publicalyx are in it now and loving life. Had one root rot casualty with an anthurium but it's rerooting fine in water. I don't know if I'd want to put larger plants in it in the long run. Also not sure if I'll keep my anthurium in it but it's leca or nothing for hoya from now on!
So I've been doing a bit of research but from what I can see it's a hybrid between erubescens and and unknown philodendron. It seems the horticulturist who developed the hybrid didn't keep a record of the cross and has since passed away so no way of knowing without doing DNA testing (found this on the international aroid society page so I believe it's a trusted source!)
@@LiffeyJoy wow, that seems interesting. I’ve realised that there isn’t sufficient information around some of our favourites, Florida beauty, Magnificum etc. it’s interesting!! This dark lord is so incredible and I was curious to know it’s parentage.
Hi there! Nothing exciting to report yet. We're in the middle of winter here so rooting is happening veeery slowly. Have got it in leca now as I want it to be in passive hydro long term. Hopefully we'll get some more rooting action once Spring arrives!
@@alancerino7546 I'm so sorry I missed this. My understanding is that the leaves start out orange/red and get darker. Rooting update, this winter has been freezing so it's only just starting to root now! We're getting there though
It's gotten completely ridiculous! Even here the prices have skyrocketed. And everything is auctioned now... Have stopped buying plants entirely at the moment. Can't compete with some people's wallets! Even this was a really lucky find to be honest
Not really related sorry but 3:16 gave me very much needed serotonin and made me literally smile oml 😭
Rosie has that effect on people. So glad she could help! Should just turn this into a cat channel really!
What a great cutting! It'll do fine in water 👍😊
Rosie's just saying "hey, gimme that box already!!!" 🤣🤣🤣

Beautiful colors on those leaves! Rosie in her chair at the end so cute and funny!
The red is really impressive!

It's really handy to be able to see the parentage but I guess the not knowing just adds to the mystery sometimes

Ugggh $8.50... SOOO Jealous, people are charging like $150 for something that size.. it’s all a money game now!
