    UTC 140 Denier olive brown
    Pine Squirrel Zonker Sculpin Olive
    Pearl Flashabou
    Fish Skull living eyes
    Tiemco Hook #8
"The micro zonker is a versatile pattern that can imitate a number of different baitfish species often preyed on by tout. A variety of white, olive, and black patterns, weighted and unweighted, all have a place in my fly box. Try dead drifting this fly on a tandem rig under an indicator or retrieve in on a sinking line. The micro zonker is effective.

I caught some nice smallmouth with this pattern this summer. I needed a fly for a mid-water presentation because the bottom was really weedy. Thanks for the video! I'm planning to tie a bunch of these in various colors for next summer.

I teach a small beginner tying class each winter, always looking for something new and not too hard to tie. Thank you form my class.

after building the head of this fly I will add wings much in the way they are added to the head of a buzzer fly..add some flash there......

Everyone is all upset by the music lol. I just muted the video. All I came here for was to find a new streamer pattern, not to listen to music. Great video, I will definitely be tying a few of these up this winter.

Just checking the comments to see if I was the only one who wanted to perforate their eardrum with an ice pick.

Assuming I didn't want to mess with the resin head, do you think a cone or beadhead would be better?

      Hey Pat,
You could certainly use a cone or bead head on this pattern. Just note that in doing so you are weighting the fly. The resin used here is for appearance and not so much for getting the fly down in the water.
There is another product Flymen's Fish-Skull® Fish-Mask™ that is pre-made for this look. We carry these on our website so feel free to visit us and check them out. north40.com/catalog/product/view/id/33408
      Hope this helps.

Wow! This fly is dirt simple! I love it. Questions: 1) Would it help to glue the rabbit to the shank? 2) Where do you get that Clear Cure Goo? 3) Have you done this with weighted/lead eyes? 4) What all colors have you done?

Thanks for checking out our video and for your questions! You can always glue any step you'd like -- a drop of Zap a Gap would make the fly indestructible. I suggest using the Loon UV Resin instead of the Clear Cure. I now use the thin and build the head with several cures. The Loon UV Clear dries tack-free, so there is no extra step of adding head cement. The thin is also good for many other flies. You can tie basically the same pattern with dumbbell eyes and skip the head if you want. I don’t suggest using weighted/lead eyes though. The unweighted fly has more action and side-to-side swim. There are many colors that I have used - black, olive, brown, white, and yellow/red flash are a few favorites.

I personally like to keep my rabbit strip free from the hook shank. It really gives the fly a lot of fluid movement in the water, making it look more realistic, especially if you're dead drifting it.

Think I'll just tie on some dumbbell eyes.

I enjoyed the video, but the music was distracting. Looks like a slump buster but has eyes and a resin head instead of conehead. Nice!

Hi Nicole. Thanks for watching our video and for your feedback. Our choice of music seems to be a unanimous with our viewers and we certainly value everyone's feedback so we can improve. This is a pretty close resemblance to Slumpbuster, and can be fished the same way. Hope you tie a few up and them a try.

Forget him, this is a great pattern. Though I would probably substitute a cone head for the epoxy.
