I guess this is where they got the term s***-faced? Because you're sure as hell got it! One hell of a video man that's why I watch you! Take care. Tony
Good Job on detecting the broken pipe so quickly. you definitely know your craft. Thank you for posting these interesting videos!! Watching from Seattle, Washington.
Watching roots be pulled from a pipe is not unlike watching parasitic worms coming out of a host body, especially when they just keep coming up and you wonder how all of it fit into the tiny space it came from. There's a certain morbid fascination with it.
As single women who is a home owner, I try to do most of my home repairs and maintenance. My son is qualifying to be an electrician, so he knows what needs to be done there, and I've always looked after the plumbing in the immediate reaches of the sinks and baths. There is a few things on my 'would like to do' list. If those folks had youtube channels I could watch to see how they work and ask what they charge for said work, I would feel a lot more comfortable getting in contact. What you do is so much better than some faceless recommendations and a calling card.
Great job as always. A lot of hard work but at least things are working and she knows what has to be done down the road. You always do your best for the customer and take pride in your work. That is something that is hard to find these days. Most just get in and get out with the least amount of effort possible. I was always taught to do it right the first time or don't bother doing it.
The best to this work is it is the rain flowing, you have with roots to to but this is agrotable. The rainwater in the garden to trickle away is the best. The video to show you have great working and in a pair year is it the to self. 🇦🇹
For the drain pipe not being buried deep enough, reminds me of the situation my parents had at their last house. The well company didn't bury the well pipe deep enough- it's supposed to be at least 27 inches deep here to be below the freeze line. We didn't know it wasn't until the guy running the grader broke the power line for it when grading for the front parking area. 🙄 The guy packed up his grader and left, without saying a word. Dad came home and boom, the whole system shut down, we had no water in the house. The well company tried to deny responsibility for the shoddy work.
Gavin you really need some better digging tools like, a trenching shovel they come different widths, and a good digging bar with flat chisel end. They will help. That flat end shovel isn't for digging!
The fact that you show all your work, good and bad, is the best calling card and advertisement for the type of work you do. You are the only person whom I would call if I lived in Australia. Wish you were in the U.S.A. I am checking in from outside Chicago, Illinois.
Really enjoy your TH-cam content! Grease traps are the same all over the world….wretched and evil smelling. We worked at Chicago’s O’Hare airport for a major International airline in the Buildings and Maintenance Department. Tasked with cleaning the trap for the kitchen in the “Sky Lounge” for VIPs, we set about the task. When we cracked the cover on the trap, we both gagged and dropped back several steps. N A S T Y! We did the job, and I threw away that uniform set as I couldn’t get the smell out of the clothes. They had to close the VIP lounge for a day to have an outside cleaning company come in to disinfect and deodorize the area. Tyvek suits are the answer!! Use them, peel them, toss them into an outside rubbish bin. Anyway, watching you clear the drain for the bakery brought back all those smells. Big respect to you for getting that mess cleared and I’m grateful you were outside for most of that job. Keep up the good work. “Cheers” to you from Dan in Colorado, USA!
Massive job, beautifully and thoroughly done. You may find clients unsure about how to proceed, and whether a tradie is truthful, because a lot of women don't know about these areas. The suggestion to watch your TH-cam is a good one, clients see your processes, problem solving, attitudes, quality of work, and your trustworthiness. Nice when a client offers you some sustenance.
Great job. Very satisfying. I keep having to tell my husband to not bother me in the evenings because I’m spending them with “the penetrator”. He laughs.
I run a stump grinding business and can tell from the sawdust and soil mix there that stump was machine ground and they may have hit the pipe. However by the look of the root ball the pipe was probably compromised already to some degree, the machine just made the hole larger..
Aussie drains are so different then where im from. Ours come from downspouts then straight into our gardens or anywhere we want it to go. Usually no farther than 3-4 feet away.
Where I live in America, we mostly do the same thing. Downspouts to the lawn, directed away from foundation, very little underground plumbing. We direct flow to yard and grade land to allow natural flow to storm drains.
Just a thought champ, what about putting more markings on your hose attached to the jetta. Maybe like you had the red tape as a warning your near the start so you can shut the water off, but then also yellow, blue and black tape at say every 2-5 metres. That way you can quickly see how far in the set-up is. Maybe even then put an epoxy layer over the tape so it stays on longer, not a huge amount, just enough to waterproof the tape to the hose.
Hey I have done a lot of digging ! The best tool for small hole /trench/ carefully digging. Is a hand held (short handle) pick axe.. sharp! Will make short work for hard soils and rooted soil! (Sharp axe cuts roots easy) I have used a lot of digging tools pick axe works best second a digging bar ! But you can get a hand held jack hammer drill with different bits as well but the cost over a pick axe ? Your choice!
I think you do an excellant job, if I lived over there and ever needed you to clean out my drains, you'd be the 1st one I'd call! Love your heavy accent. Oh! I see our little friend is with us today, yaye!!! 🐸 (ribbit)
Another good workout for you! Presumably the owner could claim the 2 drain repairs on her house insurance unless it is one of the many exemptions in the insurance small print!
Wow! Another seemingly impossible problem, solved again with a lot of time and effort. Those roots, are they indigenous to the Southern Hemisphere, or are they apparent in all parts of the world? Wherever, congratulations for another happy customer. See you on the next! Cher’s Gareth! 🇦🇺👍🙂🇺🇸
Australia seems to have some very aggressive tree roots. Maybe it's because they have a dry season and the roots grow to water. It also appears that some installers don't cement the joints and roots can wedge their way in. The pipes are installed very close to ground level where they can be damaged. Roots will find any crack. It would be a good idea to have a jetter run through them at least every other year.
@@tiredoldmechanic1791 Thank you for that information. I’ve been watching Gareth’s work on many homes in Brisbane, and surrounding areas, and my curiosity has been answered. Thanks mate! 👍
It’s amazing how decades and decades ago people just built these homes without knowing that someday nature would reclaim what was once theirs.
Just here to see the frog😂😂😍
Subbed! This fellow need to run for government!! Clean out all clogs! Very cool stuff.
Thanks for the sub!
Another great job!! You are the best!
Those pipes look like “toy pipes” they are so thin. No wonder they break and roots get in.
Thank you! Cheers!
With Drain addict not posting as much as he used to, you're doing a great job filling the world's Aussie -man jetters shoes. Congrats on 10k.
Ever seen Penetrator and Drain Addict in the same place?? Makes me wonder??
Not likely since Sydney is 9 and a half hours from Brisbane. How cool would that be to see a collaboration video though ?
@@user-vm3hz9vf8e Why would they need to be. They only do the same thing for a living, they aren't married.
@@yeahyouknowit176 I think this may be a reference to seeing Clark Kent and Superman in the same place!
Thank you 😊

Penetrator- getting to the root of the problem…couldn’t resist.
It always amazes me the size of the roots that come out of these pipes. Great job as always.

Some root problems there. Makes good watching though. Keep up the good work over there. Ken UK
Congrats on the 10k subs 🇳🇿🦺👌
I guess you could say that pipe is "rooted" ...... LOL
Correct 😂
I wasn't surprised by the size of the roots. And that they had gone into the sewer as well. Certain trees have very invasive root systems
Those roots are amazing.
Yes, definitely an epic!!
In the USA they use and auger with cutters on the end to cut the roots.
Gosh! she has a lot wrong around there! Surely, she would have noticed sooner. Ollie, you are a great drain fixer and paver!
