Best years ever working for Southend Transport - even on a grey dreary day with dirty buses the memories came flooding back - Great camaraderie between all the drivers and other staff. Thanks for posting.
Wow, some old stuff kicking around near the end of the century in that town. It could almost pass for 1989 . I was wondering if we'd get to see the pod and still had it's 510 motor no less.
Classic. Loved Southend. Leyland Engine Fleetlines still going in 1999 wow!. I remember the mass influx of Leyland Nationals too earlier on. Coincidently,Southend had connections with Cardiff as they loaned Cardiff some Leyland PD3s for a time in the 70s. In turn Cardiff loaned Southend some Olympians in the 80s and ended up with some Cardiff Nationals in the early 90s! Great video mate. Thanks
I drove some of those ex Riverside Olympians after their LT use, they were not as nice as the LT specified ones. I found the brakes to a bit 'all or nothing' which made for interesting driving!!!

Great video mate. Thanks
Thanks for the info, this was one of my mate's videos, i wish he had filmed more!
1999 was, in a way, the best year ever, I think some or a lot of those buses are fortunately still around, preserved at fields.
Any info where? Not many of the fleet lines are still around
The NC bodied fleetline with their low height body looked a neat and tidy bus ,I drove Olympians for LT on the 237 for a while not bad .

OK, but seeing that Skyline at @1:39 is probably the highlight for me ^^
i hate these new lampposts back then they actually had pretty decent ones and it sort of mixes well with the whole concept of the video and the buses
Southend Buses 🚌 1985 And 1999
👍👍👍
Similar to West Midlands Travel colours, except with a thinner red stripe.
Thinking exactly the same!
I tend to forget there were still a few Atlanteans knocking about in '99.
The last ones in Sydney were in 1986! Only a few remained for expresses by then out of an original 200 delivered 1970 -1972.
Anyone know when the fleet lines left the fleet.
I don't i'm afraid. I was amazed they were still running this late!
@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus Arriva Southend retired the Fleet lines (which were still in the old Southend Transport livery) in early 2000.
Shame no routemasters 🙄but still interesting video none the less
The Routemasters had gone by the mid 90s sadly......
Are they x west midlands travel
I'm not sure, maybe other views may know?......
Please, PLEASE, PUH-LEEEZE!!
. . . move your bus vids to THEIR OWN channel!
Bus fans are not healthy people.
Yes, i know what you mean about some bus enthusiasts but my whole channel is about transport and classic vehicles......
