There's always the possibility that the zoo level isn't a part of the base game, Payday 2 had a secret ending and upon completion it triggers a 2gb update for the game itself adding extra content as a reward. A similar system might be in play here. You can't find the zoo level files as they might not be there until you figure it out, In which they automatically download and install themselves.
Even then there must be a file associated with the link to download the extra file,with all this digging mat did there should be provided anything IN game codes that might lead to NEW files or sites.
Perhaps the zoolevel isn't in the game itself, but somewhere in the internet. Not putting the level in the game would be pretty smart of you don't want anybody to find it in the source code.
Yeah, that would be smart. Binding of Isaac made that mistake when they tried to turn The Lost into an ARG. Peeps were getting pretty far too, but then some wet fart cracked the source files and just posted all the pieces at once. It bummed out the peeps doing it properly at the time, too.
Matt, if you look above in the clown level, there is a pipe where an animal slides through in the first second. You have to break that pipe. Everything in that room is trying to distract you, that's why the clown is so hyped
I have an Oculus Quest. I bought the game, put my headset into developer mode, turned off the guardian boundary. Then I found a big room and went after the yellow and black cartridge on the floor that normally can't be reached. It scurried away from me like a rat.
MattPatt, try searching for bars. Specifically iron bars. You're not supposed to be looking for a zoo. The "zoo" is where you place some familiar animals(The Gang) after they got arrested. It's a prison or jail. Play the xylobone with Save the animals.mp3. Ignore the animal sounds and play the specific notes of the song. I think the frog in the car chase is the one we should be trying to save. After all, it's in the song. The frog is the clue.
I think the zoo level might be a paradox. If google is to be believed, there are 2 major definitions for "zoo", the first we all know and love: "an establishment which maintains a collection of wild animals, typically in a park or gardens, for study, conservation, or display to the public.". The second? Well, it's: "a situation characterized by confusion and disorder." That's the paradox, in finding the zoo level, and in particular failing to find a zoo level creates the zoo, you are the zoo level. The zoo level only exists when it doesn't, and discovering the zoo level causes it to cease to be.

Actually, just because there are no assets/code for that level in the game files does not mean the level does not exists. In theory they could dynamically download all resources from a server, compile and use them only when a certain event is triggered. And even finding the code responsible for downloading and compiling the resources could be really hard to find since it would take only one line of code but could also be created very verbose, hidden in hundreds of different classes and the different instructions do not make sense by themselves (or do something completely different), but with the correct control code hidden somewhere else it suddenly makes sense. Until someone has inspected every single line of code, nobody can really say that the level is not there.
There are lots of ways to do that. It is not even necessary to use any assets in the first place. They can be hardcoded in the game (unlikely because this takes a lot of effort and usually looks horrible but it is possible).
Can't you get a link from a website that dowloads the Zoo level, and automatically attaches to the game itself, beacuse if that is possible then Matt you need to find a link bye solving the 2 Things we got from the episode before this one

It is possible that the Zoo Level doesn`t exist, BUT its also possible that an update will come when the mystery is solved. EG. of what i mean is The binding of issac : afterbirth, there the players had to solve a huge mystery even including a reall world tresure hunt without knowing the prize after that we got an update with a new character (still had to figure out how to unlock him in game tho). it mighut be like this here too.
On the H3H3 podcast with Justin Roiland, Justin does say that the zoo level exists and the creators went out of their way to make sure you couldn't just go through the data to find the level.

the zoo level files dont actually have to be in the game. They could be hidden somewhere on the internet as a package that can be downloaded. Either manually by the player, like a mod. Or, automatically from a CDN or some other remote asset hosting service.
Once you realize there is no Zoo level, you ascend, you become the expectator of everyone else as animals trying to find something that dosn't exist, that why Matpat posted a comment saying it does exist, he's part of the crowd now, he's watching all of us like animal, he's letting the zoo to go on.
That can easily be tested by searching the game's code for anything that hints at this being a features, like importing certain libraries that are used for communications over the internet or a suspecious address of some sort...

Interesting how in the midst of this Zoo Level crisis, Crows Crows Crows is creating Stanley Parable 2, (which is at the very least additional game content paired with the original game). Here's where things could get interesting: PERHAPS the Zoo Level isn't even in the Accounting+ game, but in another game entirely, the game that started it all: The Stanley Parable. What if the zoo level has been in Stanley Parable the entire time? And maybe this new update coming sometime this year is in fact the way to see it? Or at the very least, the update includes the Zoo Level itself, hiding in a place no one would think to look.

Yeah, the zoo level is the entirety of the ARG imo. The whole thing is crazy and driving everyone crazy, merging our world and the VR world together, keeping you playing the game even when youre not. What Im saying is, the zoo level might exist, you just haven't found the right key to unlocking it, "unlocking it" meaning, discovering where it is or making the devs drop the level into the game.
Well on the recent h3 podcast charity stream, Justin roiland (after much interruption) confirms that the zoo level exists and actually comments that the developers managed to hide it from accounting + code, and says that it impresses him as he thought it wasn't possible

That's the only logical thing that would in theory make sense. There's no evidence for it being in the game after the games code was ripped open. There is probably something somewere and I'm gonna assume it's gonna be a big slap to the face when we do find it.

"Zoo" is sometimes used to describe something that's crazy or a mess, right? So maybe the zoo level is the chaos of searching for it. Rather than being a literal level it's a self imposed level. I don't know how common this is, but when I was a kid I made up levels within levels of Super Mario World. Things like making a shell bounce between two pipes and seeing how many times I can jump over said shell before it hits me or time runs out (I called this "deadly jump rope") became a new level for me to play when I needed a break from whatever real level I was stuck on. So the zoo level would be special because it gets players to set goals and complete tasks that they wouldn't normally do.

honestly i always thought that the zoo level is so hard to find EXACTLY because it’s not technically in the game, my hypothesis is that the zoo level is online and reachable with a link or something. most of the hints are not in the game but online, on reddit, discord or youtube, so why wouldn’t they hide the level on the web too?

This reminds me of the infamous Keeper ARG from the binding of Isaac community. After the creator of the game (Edmund Mc. Millan) hid an incredibly hard to find character in the game (The Lost) and dataminers skipped the puzzle completely and gave away the solution, Edmund decided to ad a new secret character for the game's first dlc (Afterbirth). However, when the dlc was released, The Keeper was LITERALLY NOWHERE; that's because Edmund had the data for the character, but WAITED to put it in the game until the fans solved the ARG. Numerous dead ends somehow related to the number 109, phone calls from the main character's dad and literally digging up a figurine of one of the game's bosses later, and BOOM! ARG complete, and what did all the dedicated people in the community unlock? What most people consider to be the most infuriating character in the game. Now THAT is a next level troll, and I love it!
But...what if the whole acounting+ is the zoo level? When you think about it, all the people in the "zoo level" are in the game, and what if the game says that you are the zoo level? Is the player the zoo?

I'm thinking of the museum from Modern Warfare 2 where there's just a bunch of the games major moments on display only it's a zoo so it's the characters on display, saying their usual lines, stuck in cages of existing assets for you to wander around
As someone who is currently learning 3D animation I want to disagree and say that you would still need some new models for the level, like cages and stuff, as new models need to be first CREATED as new models in order to be put into the game, yet I'm totally on the same idea as you in regard of reused assets. What I mean is that nothing is stopping the creators from just taking old models from official levels and randomly throw them into a new level area and reusing existing textures and animation keys for them. Heck, they might even reuse voice lines and audio files too, like game designers did in the good old days. MatPat did mention after all that there are two strange level files that doesn't seem to match any of the already existing 14 (15?) levels, so one of them could be the Zoo level, made up entirely of already existing materials. It would be strange tho for the creators to do something this lazy and stupid, but in a game that literally lacks any logic that would not be so much out of place. Especially if the so called Zoo level isn't a literal zoo, but rather some kind of randomly generated game area with randomly generated models and audio tracks all made up from stuff that are officially already in the game.

Justin Roiland said (drunkily) on the H3 fundraiser not too long ago that the game was designed so that you couldn't just dump the code / files, seems like doing that was just a complete waste of time. It could be that they'll only release the zoo level as an update at some point, or that they're planning on making the level download once you do something.

even though assets aren't present doesn't really mean it can't be a thing. nowadays it's actually possible to store level data on a database. for example notch made a game called Caller's Bane. this game was created with only online assets making the installation of the game virtually nothing. everything was downloaded from the server before being used. though I highly doubt this is what has been done in the accounting+ it is plausible.

In the most recent charity episode of the H3H3 podcast featuring Alex Hirsch and JUSTIN ROILAND near the end of the stream ALOT of people were donating and specifically asking justin if there is a zoo level and he said that there DEFINATELY is a zoo level and according to justin the people from crows crows crows have worked very hard and hidden it extremely well and all he said was “good luck finding it because absolutely no one has”
I have to say, Gravity Falls did this sort of thing regularly and it seems like Justin wants to copy that sort of mystery. But he is horrible at it, he simply takes the fun from it and makes it into a lame joke that wastes the time of all involved.

How would this explain say a PS4 version of the game.
It is possible that the Zoo Level doesn`t exist, BUT its also possible that an update will come when the mystery is solved. EG. of what i mean is The binding of issac : afterbirth, there the players had to solve a huge mystery even including a reall world tresure hunt without knowing the prize after that we got an update with a new character (still had to figure out how to unlock him in game tho). it mighut be like this here too.

On the H3H3 podcast with Justin Roiland, Justin does say that the zoo level exists and the creators went out of their way to make sure you couldn't just go through the data to find the level.
Do you remember which podcast this was with him and roughly what part it was? I went looking and there's three podcasts with him and they're all very long.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and if you still didn't understand, my attempt of explanation is: You could've missed something because the game designers hadn't created it yet. Or you are just to quick to solve their mystery and decided to scrap it and tease the rest of the community.

the zoo level files dont actually have to be in the game. They could be hidden somewhere on the internet as a package that can be downloaded. Either manually by the player, like a mod. Or, automatically from a CDN or some other remote asset hosting service.
Once you realize there is no Zoo level, you ascend, you become the expectator of everyone else as animals trying to find something that dosn't exist, that why Matpat posted a comment saying it does exist, he's part of the crowd now, he's watching all of us like animal, he's letting the zoo to go on.

Interesting how in the midst of this Zoo Level crisis, Crows Crows Crows is creating Stanley Parable 2, (which is at the very least additional game content paired with the original game). Here's where things could get interesting: PERHAPS the Zoo Level isn't even in the Accounting+ game, but in another game entirely, the game that started it all: The Stanley Parable. What if the zoo level has been in Stanley Parable the entire time? And maybe this new update coming sometime this year is in fact the way to see it? Or at the very least, the update includes the Zoo Level itself, hiding in a place no one would think to look.
Unfortunately, I know for a fact that the Zoo Level is not in The Stanley Parable in its current state, but I like your theory of it being in the new version.

I mean, the binding of isaac did it in the past, the zoo level isn't there *yet*. When the developers realize someone found the zoo level the level will become available. Maybe the level isn't in accounting! maybe the level appears in a different game! Frog fractions has done it in the past where the second game was hidden in an entirely different game. What Im saying is, the zoo level might exist, you just haven't found the right key to unlocking it, "unlocking it" meaning, discovering where it is or making the devs drop the level into the game.

Well on the recent h3 podcast charity stream, Justin roiland (after much interruption) confirms that the zoo level exists and actually comments that the developers managed to hide it from accounting + code, and says that it impresses him as he thought it wasn't possible
On the other hand, he could just as easily be continuing the myth as a joke.
If the Zoo Level is a metajoke, confirmation means very little.

"Zoo" is sometimes used to describe something that's crazy or a mess, right? So maybe the zoo level is the chaos of searching for it. Rather than being a literal level it's a self imposed level.
I don't know how common this is, but when I was a kid I made up levels within levels of Super Mario World. Things like making a shell bounce between two pipes and seeing how many times I can jump over said shell before it hits me or time runs out (I called this "deadly jump rope") became a new level for me to play when I needed a break from whatever real level I was stuck on.
So the zoo level would be special because it gets players to set goals and complete tasks that they wouldn't normally do.

This reminds me of the infamous Keeper ARG from the binding of Isaac community. After the creator of the game (Edmund Mc. Millan) hid an incredibly hard to find character in the game (The Lost) and dataminers skipped the puzzle completely and gave away the solution, Edmund decided to ad a new secret character for the game's first dlc (Afterbirth). However, when the dlc was released, The Keeper was LITERALLY NOWHERE; that's because Edmund had the data for the character, but WAITED to put it in the game until the fans solved the ARG. Numerous dead ends somehow related to the number 109, phone calls from the main character's dad and literally digging up a figurine of one of the game's bosses later, and BOOM! ARG complete, and what did all the dedicated people in the community unlock? What most people consider to be the most infuriating character in the game. Now THAT is a next level troll, and I love it!

This will probably be debunked, but what if the zoo level is a mashup of the other levels? This might explain why there's no new things, you wouldn't need to add new features if you're just recycling features from the other levels. It also might show why it's called the zoo level - like a zoo, it's a collection of things (like animals) from different places?

I'm thinking of the museum from Modern Warfare 2 where there's just a bunch of the games major moments on display only it's a zoo so it's the characters on display, saying their usual lines, stuck in cages of existing assets for you to wander around

As someone who is currently learning 3D animation I want to disagree and say that you would still need some new models for the level, like cages and stuff, as new models need to be first CREATED as new models in order to be put into the game, yet I'm totally on the same idea as you in regard of reused assets. What I mean is that nothing is stopping the creators from just taking old models from official levels and randomly throw them into a new level area and reusing existing textures and animation keys for them. Heck, they might even reuse voice lines and audio files too, like game designers did in the good old days. MatPat did mention after all that there are two strange level files that doesn't seem to match any of the already existing 14 (15?) levels, so one of them could be the Zoo level, made up entirely of already existing materials.
It would be strange tho for the creators to do something this lazy and stupid, but in a game that literally lacks any logic that would not be so much out of place. Justin Roiland said (drunkily) on the H3 fundraiser not too long ago that the game was designed so that you couldn't just dump the code / files, seems like doing that was just a complete waste of time.
It could be that they'll only release the zoo level as an update at some point, or that they're planning on making the level download once you do something.

@@gemstrange1598 Megalovania IS Sans´ Theme AND the xylobone doesn´t have enough keys to play the N or S in Sans (if you took the number of the letter in the alphabet ) and S and N aren´t notes either.

The intros of this and the last theory on this game really remind me of this weird VR game I watched a playthrough of a long time ago...unless that was some kind of fever dream...
even though assets aren't present doesn't really mean it can't be a thing. nowadays it's actually possible to store level data on a database. for example notch made a game called Caller's Bane. this game was created with only online assets making the installation of the game virtually nothing. everything was downloaded from the server before being used. though I highly doubt this is what has been done in the accounting+ it is plausible.

You do realize that there can still be a zoo level right? They can for example have an external site, that when reached triggers an steam update witch causes the zoo level to be added. They can keep the level from being datamined before being discovered that way.

In the most recent charity episode of the H3H3 podcast featuring Alex Hirsch and JUSTIN ROILAND near the end of the stream ALOT of people were donating and specifically asking justin if there is a zoo level and he said that there DEFINATELY is a zoo level and according to justin the people from crows crows crows have worked very hard and hidden it extremely well and all he said was “good luck finding it because absolutely no one has”
