Lusitani has been my favorit faction when you play campaign on legendary. The units gets so freaking good when they rank up even if they cost very little and the versatility you get from them all having ranged attacks is great fun to play with.
The javelins the Iberian swordsmen carry always amaze me when they throw them into the back of infantry. It's amazing how devastating they are against cavalry aswell.
Scutarii spearmen have celtic wood shields, and not scutum which only gives them a missile block chance of 40% instead of 50%. Still the best Lusitani can bring - still crappy. Although the Iberian Swords appear to be throwing soliferrums with 32/20/12 damage, they are throwing craptastic 29/20/9 javelins like Thureos. One of the things that makes the Veteran Shields and Nobles good is that they have 6 AP, compared to 4 for alot of swords units. Fun faction, can be effective if you can overwhelm your opponent with swords but super fragile against the better melee factions like Tylis, Rome and Boii.
A cheap cost for Veteran Shields & the 50% ambush bonus has helped me enormously to expand and take out AI factions in multiplayer, although the Cavalry arm of the Lusitani is mediocre at best. My opponent is Boii however so I will have a real fight on my hands.
The Lusitani aren't properly portait, they lack on cavalary, weapons, armour and tatics that are found on historical documents, still better be there than don't. CA coud do much better job with them.
@@suomusintti They should have a lot more light cavalry, for one. All of the Iberian tribes had plenty of horses. Also, not one of all those barbarian factions (Celts, Thracians, Iberians) that fight mostly on foot ever used blocky formations like a Greek/Roman unit, but thats an innate game design flaw.
I suppose one could think of barbarian units in the games as groups of warriors who stick together out of familiarity and loyalty rather than disciplined regiments. Perhaps they all come from the same tribe or were raised by the same local leader. In any event, any halfway good warrior culture has some understanding of smaller tactical units, which the Romans may have missed or purposely left out of their accounts to reinforce the scary-pants-wearing-horde image they had of their enemies. So I think giving the barbarian factions more organizational credit than the Romans did is fair, even if the game takes it a bit further for the sake of gameplay.
If this game was accurate about Carthage, they would have access to Barbarian noble horse in MP, Heavy Horse, Celtiberian Cav, veteran shield warriors, some kind of heavy Libyan spearman, celtic units like short swords and naked warriors, and many other Iberian units. Carthage should be a power faction, their army diversity and cohesion under the Barcas was unbelievable and a key part of their success.
Any chance you would consider doing a campaign with the DEI mod? I know Attilla will be out soon but like an episode once a week or something would be interesting, maybe throwback thursday? =]
Only one problem, a campaign with DEI will take like half a year. I really like the mod but it wouldn't be so enjoyable to watch for most people cause it goes so damn slow
One word. Elephants. levy pikes, eastern slingers, superior cav and of course, my beloved rofl stompers will massacre a barbarian sword rush, which are actually very weak.
So they are heavily javelin focused. But suck against missile attacks? So basically their weakness is themselves lol. And they start surrounded by factions with the same unit types. That explains why they are such a headache to start out as despite being one of my fav factions because of their javs.
Arguably, Balaeric Slingers will fare SLIGHTLY better in melee than Rhodians, but I would say they might also come up as a draw. In ranged, though, Rhodians reload about 20% faster but you pay 40 more for em. The rest of the ranged stats are sort of equal.
You'll very rarely see more than 3 elite skirmishers outside of a box-situation, as they are very difficult to protect due to the rest of the army necessarily being smaller.
You've got 17 factions left with 9 days till Attila. How about the factions you haven't at all done yet (even not in the old run) like Carthage and the new factions?
***** I think what he means is he is asking if heir would like to see the polish that was in shogun and Rome I that made unit clashing surreal. When units are in formation they do not collide, however when they are takin out of formation attack they tend to smash into each other with a little more force. Rome II really brings out some of the best and worse in the warscape engine and I agree that the fluid robotic way 120 men move around in exactly the same motion is a little weird. In R one when two units charge, the front ranks of the men would run first and then the men behind them just like you would see in real life, like the whole unit was not a giant biological blob.
Why they make the Iberians/Lusitani too dark?? I mean....they look like egyptians....Iberians were a mix between Iberians and Celtic (celtiberian) and don't look at all a celtic faction ....the Lusitani were considered a Cimbrian tribe per Romans...and the Cimbrians in this game are Blonde...very funny
Thought the same. I've seen more tanned individuals within this faction than on my last visit to the mall - and that was after the Moors paid a visit. Common stereotype.
How is scutarii cav killing companion cavalry so easily....sigh... I 've just watched this out of curiosity, and this just proves what i 've felt and experienced for the first time i played rtw2: This game is fucked up on so many levels.......
OMG this was my match!! I've been wanting to play against Heir for months and I didn't realize! D:

thx bae
Yeah I totally agree, Lusitani is my favorite faction im pretty familiar with them.

Javelin day every day
I love throwing gold chevrons on Iberian swordsmen which turns them into javy throwing BEASTS that no one sees coming.
The Roman scutum was of Samnite origins as far as I know.
And also the pilum, they may have taken the idea of the gladius from the iberians
The Lusitani aren't properly portait, they lack on cavalary, weapons, armour and tatics that are found on historical documents, still better be there than don't. CA coud do much better job with them.
What they should do with them? That is alreadt historically accurate.

Cool battle Heir! The end when scrolled out was showing a very bloody battlefield. Was pretty epic!

yeah i cant even play vanilla rome 2 nowadays dei so much more fun.

I'd rather see him do a campaign with 'Constantine: Rise of Christianity mod'
Robin MX Different entirely. DEI is more optimization, Constantine is a complete overhaul.
KarstenOkk Hmm okay. So more like just unit changes and such?
Hey Hier have you played Besieged yet? I think it would be great if you could do a little segment on it plus we can see your engineering skills
love ur videos... keep it coming
HeirofCarthage I watched this yesterday and employed the same tactic versus Athens, thank you for helping me win my first quick battle.
really swift and clean rear charges. nice work heir.
I use light cavalry not only against missile infantry, useful against missile cavalry.
Super vidéo Heir !
Mais a quand une video focus on Carthage ??
Ca fait si longtemps qu'on l'attends
"mlg move" that cracked me up
Doesn’t make sense when it states “heavy spear” but has almost no armor? Like hello?
I may be wrong but I recall the Scutum having been adapted from the Samnites...
Silver Rush Romans were known for adopting lots of customs from other people you're probably right
600 javelins by Iberian swordmen
Love the javelin volleys :)
Can you do some more athani campaign plz havent do it in a while
Getting my body ready for the odrysians
I almost beat a barbarian sword spam by using pikes offensively and having superior cav. Is it a sound strategy to beat the meta?
One word. Elephants. levy pikes, eastern slingers, superior cav and of course, my beloved rofl stompers will massacre a barbarian sword rush, which are actually very weak.
Spam horse archers against sword spam
So they are heavily javelin focused.

I should hopefully be getting tis game soon!
This took a while to load O_O
No kiddin
Pretty sure Jav Day was on 17th April but I'll take it. :3
Man you are really crankin these out Heir! Do you ever tire, or do you subsist off the despair of inferior strategists? (; lol.
O my god look at 24:16 luisitani nobles base moral is 356
Its called Headhunt, it has a phase where the unit gains 356/Unbreakable moral.
Really? Cool
:D
What makes Balaeric Slingers worse than Rhodian Slingers?

Missile block chance and health mainly.
but you can bring, more balaeric than rhodian, so you can have a number advantage.
You'll very rarely see more than 3 elite skirmishers outside of a box-situation, as they are very difficult to protect due to the rest of the army necessarily being smaller.
Maximus Decimus Meridius i know, just pointing out they are not limited like rhodians
Scutum is of Samnite origin

You almost never do online battles anymore :/
your faction focus is much better, good use of troops in the battlefield , like the time taken to explain.
luv u heir...
What is the different of spears and hoplites?
hoplites are better but some spears can throw javelins
Hey Heir. Would you prefer unit collision in the games?

I dont really like Scutarii cav. I think carthaginian cav is better because they have more armor for less cost and almost the same stats.
how many accounts do you have with rome2 on?
i think he just changes his name
oh dident know u could
